Hi Kathryn - You posted at VF about Mauricio Gonzalez - Kick box. check out: khmmultimedia.com for info about this workout. Looks interesting. Don't know if it's advanced enough though.

Thanks! I had never heard of him, and when I did a search, the only Mauricio Gonzalez I came up with was a notice about some carpenter killed in the Twin Towers on 9/11 or a musician.

Edited to add: I checked out the site, and after seeing that the workout is 55 minutes long, and is described as "thorough, intense and vigorous" (some review by a magazine) and seeing that it incorporate Capoeira moves (though I can't see myself doing cartwheels on the floor!), I decided to cave.

Upon previewiing only, I can't see where the "intensity" is or how it is vigorous. The warm-up is awful (starts with twisting your neck to the sides), the workout itself looks intermediate at best, and Mauricio counts EVERY SINGLE REP (8 counts, except for a couple of exercises that are 10 counts). There are even some times when they rae doing ab work when they are lying down facing away from the camera!!

The "jinga" moves from Capoeira that are used are unique and may be more intense than they look. Other than that, I'm going to have a hard time trying this one out (though it may be better than it looks?...one can only hope). :(

The twisting of the neck and incessant counting are reminiscent of Billy Blanks to me. Oh well, once you actually bring yourself to do the workout, let us know how good or bad it is.

Thanks

Mar

Does remind one of him, doesn't it? Especially in his earlier workouts (for the neck thing). But somehow, when Billy is counting, he adds in a bit of extra motivation, doesn't he? Mauricio just counts, and counts, and counts. And he also goes all the way up to 10 at one point!
