I'm in the same boat as Laurie. I teach classes and do personal training so I am at the gym quite a bit. I have made so many wonderful friends at the gym where I work. I love the comradery there. However, I equally love working out with Cathe at home. She is the BEST motivator.
I do understand what a lot of you mean about not feeling comfortable in the gym. I have worked at other gyms and was not happy there do to a very competetive atmosphere. It was not a very positive or healthy atmosphere. Actually, the all women's gym, where I taught, was the worst. It made me so sad to see women comparing themselves to one another and being very critical of themselves and others in a very unhealthy way.
One woman, another instructor, actually became anorexic and her doctor advised her to quit the all women's gym and join one with men. I can believe it.
I'm so glad that we have Cathe, and one another, to support our goals, lift us when we need it and provide positive feedback, information and encouragement.
