Oh! Just got back from our city council meeting and they accepted our offer on a commercial building in town! YIPPEE!! We'll be moving the sporting goods to the "main drag" and off of a side street..It's almost twice the square footage of our current location, so we'll be opening another tanning salon as well (I know, I know...)...

Now, I have some ideas for the current location...What do you ladies think??

-Thrift store with proceeds going to local youth sports associations-the only revenue that would NOT stay with the store would be utilities, taxes, building payment and payroll

-Women's boutique-I have found CRAZY deals on some liquidation websites...Coach purses to brand name cosmetics-We're in a rural community and the nearest shopping area is 45 minutes away...

Congrats on the new, bigger, better space. I like both ideas for what to do with the current space. I like the charity idea. If you decide on the women's boutique you could always donate do a domestic abuse or women's sexual abuse charity. Just a thought! Or, even do a "Charity of the Month" where its a different charity every month. The tax paperwork on that may be a nightmare, though, I don't know. Maybe change every quarter.

Think we've decided on the thrift store idea, knowing we could have a boutiqueish (is that a word?) area in the tanning salon...Also believe we'll keep the proceeds in the local youth sports community (will keep in the theme of the sporting goods stores)....Can't wait! Do any of you remember a couple of weeks ago, bored to tears and needing something to do?? Well, here it is!

The greatest part? We get to have our living room back! Get to set up a workout space/bathroom in the basement that's mine! All mine! No sharing! The basement isn't "sales worthy" but quite usable...

Sounds like everything is falling right into place for you! It's wonderful! I also like the donation idea! Keeping kids active and doing positive things is a great way to contribute to the community!

Don't think that would go over well in our community...That location is a small, rural area with the "meat and potatoes" kind of crowd...Have thought of opening a deli, though...There are 2 storefronts adjacent to our current location on the market for (gulp) $99,900 TOGETHER (not each)...That's less than 1/2 of the loan amount for the one we have now! The one was a deli, the other a small salon...Joe and I have a hard time keeping only one project going at a time! We just opened the dollar store in March, and are now taking on the new building remodel and revamping the old one to open by the end of July...If they're still there in September then those 2 will be revisited...The gerbils are running through my head like crazy today!
