Just did IMAX2 in full for the first time...

...and I am not sure why I was so afraid of it for so long!! It was so much fun and not nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I bought it before I knew Cathe step, so I think that was part of the fear problem.... but I have been successfully stepping (and little else, lol) for the last few months and I found that I had no problem with most of the step portions. Some of the power moves, now, that's another story! I didn't get all of the reps on a couple of the blasts (particularly 9! that one is a killer!), but I really loved this workout and now I must go buy IMAX3, lol. I also have IMAX1 so I will give that one a try next time.

Cheers,
Marie

That's great!!! I love IMAX 2 it's hard but fun. Lately though I've been doing only half. I have really not been focusing on cardio much and it makes it difficult to get throught the whole thing.

I really like IMAX2 as well. Tough, but fun, and not too dancy.

I find that if I do it regularly (once a week, maybe twice some weeks), I get a little better every time (though my jumps still aren't as high and wide as Cathe's, and I don't think I'm made for doing the tucks on the tuck jumps, LOl!).

I just reacquired the RS+ DVD with Interval Max (aka: IMAX1) on it (I'd gotten rid of it at a time when I hadn't figured out that I can substitute some torquey moves in RS with non-torquey moves, and when I hadn't started using puzzle mats to cushion higher impact moves). It's on my schedule for today (I LOVE the music: very fun stuff that's all intstrumental and NOT top 40 recognizible stuff. One tune sounds like the theme song from a 1960's spy series!). IMAX3 I'm not as keen on, so I'm hoping we'll get an IMAX4 sometime!

Catherine, previously I was also splitting the workout and doing only intervals 1-5... I have found that I have had to be determined and firm with myself in saying "I am NOT shutting this off until it is over." Which seems to be working - lately I have really broken through a mental plateau!

Kathryn, I really value your opinion, so let me know how you think it compares to IMAX2. I haven't done it (IMAX1) yet either; I also recently got the RS DVD but of course with this step obsession of mine, have been focusing mostly on RS!

Thanks,
Marie

Congratulations Marie! That is such a fun workout and don't you just feel "oh so good" that you completed it? I really love the Imaxes - right now however my favorite is Imax 3. Maybe just because I did Imax 2 so much last year that I can do it in my sleep! All in all they are high on my list! :) :)

Marie,
You are so right about breaking thru that mental plateau. I just need to make myself DO IT. Although some days it's more than mental. I know it's physical when I keep falling over my step cause the legs just won't work LOL.

You might want to try using a lower riser when doing it the whole way through the first few times. When I started doing IMAX2, I started with 4" and did the whole thing (not doing the whole workout just wasn't something I had even thought about. Modifying, or doing an easier version of the whole thing, was.)

Hi, Marie!
I just got done with Interval Max. I don't know if I'm a good judge of it now, because I'm still coming off some cold or crud, so I'm not up to par, but here are my impressions:

Compared to IMAX2, I think it feels a bit more athletic, almost "drill" oriented. It reminds me a bit of Gin Miller's Intense Moves because Cathe shows several levels of many of the intervals, and you can choose which one you like (I like that aspect of it, and the fact that Hope sometimes ends up doing the less intense version...which is what I did today!)

The intervals seem a bit more intense than those in IMAX2, because you are basically doing one move (or maybe a couple of slight variations on a move) for the entire time. The non-interval step segments are rather basic, but some of them seem more intense than those in IMAX2.

I really like the music, but it's a bit muted, and the picture not as crisp as what we're used to (because the workout wasn't originally filmed for DVD).
