July Jogglers

Jane - I did see a video of an American Swing at kettlebell cafe. Do you think that's a good place to learn or practice form? I don't want to mess up! I know form varies from one method to another. I like that they break down each exercise as opposed to showing a mini-workout where you have to keep pausing and back tracking to get it because they're moving from one exercise to another.

Alisha - Nice joggle! What is HsCkt? Hope you get the job at Radio Shack! I love that you have such great film/editing skills! I'd love to be able to do all that, not that I need another hobby on my list! lol

Well, my attempt at mixing things up is a huge failure! I've hardly workout other than golf and the occasional regular workout! It's because I keep changing my mind before I can even get to a workout and then I just get frustrated and don't do anything. Lesson learned. Have to have a format and rotation. Decided to do 3 weeks of Turbo Fire exactly as scheduled on the rotation card. Next up will be P90X/Insanity hybrid to the letter! I do so much better that way at staying on schedule and making sure I work out every day.

Today was TF HIIT 15 and Sculpt 30. I hadn't done the sculpt workout before! OMG! Those resistance bands are killer! It was short, but really did the job!

I'm so tired! Peanut kept stretching out last night and shoving me in the back with her paws/claws. That was not comfortable! Guess she was hot. Hopefully, I'll have a better night tonight!

I'm taking a rest day, its ttotm, I will do High Step Circuit (aka HsCkt) tomorrow.
 
Alisha - LOL! :eek: Took me re-reading your note to figure out what you meant by Hot Dogs! I'm so slow sometimes! Thanks for explaining HsCkt! I could not figure that one out!

I ended up with a rest day today. Was starving less than an hour after lunch which was a salad. Could think of nothing but food for the last hour and a half of work today. So, I came home had a small snack and started dinner! Tomorrow is supposed to be my rest day, so I'll just pick up and go from there!

This was my workout from Monday. It's a long one but I really enjoy doing these types of workouts. This was from Gym Jones. I really liked the speed weight work. I was using 15# and it really got my heart rate up.

Workout:
4x (15sec Work/15sec Rest) Mountain Climber
Then:
2x20 Squat
2x10 Jump Squat
Then:
Jump Letters:
3x “T”
3x “W”
3x “V”
Then:
KB Swing Progression:
10 reps @ 35#
10 reps @ 44#
10 reps @ 53#
Two times through
Then:
Dumbbell Complex (SPEED):
6x Biceps Curl +
6x Bent Over Row +
6x Upright Row +
6x Press +
6x Front Squat Push Press +
6x Pull up
Max Rounds in Two minutes
Four total sets


Last night I took an active recovery. I went over to the pool lady's house because her daughter and granddaughters were over. Two years ago my sister and I played with the girls in the pool (we were the evil monsters and they were the mermaids) and they wanted to play with us again. They were very shy with us but once we got in the pool, they were laughing and having fun. So we were in the pool for close to 2 hours.

I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight but I will post it later.

Alisha ~ Hope you get the job at Radio Shack. Have fun with the High Step Circuit workout. That's a good one!!

Tricia ~ You are correct in what you are doing regarding your workouts. Some people need to do rotations and some don't. You have to do what works for you.

Kettlebell Cafe looks good. I have heard of them but just checked their website. When looking at videos on form, I always check to make sure they have some sort of kettlebell certification, like RKC that way you know you are watching correct form. I think Lauren Brooks does American Swings and she RKC certified. You probably can find videos of her doing an American Swing as well.

I did a 3 mile hike instead of HsCkt, I will do that one tomorrow. Its sprinkled on me! We don't normally have summer rainy weather. Its foggy too.

Tricia-Instead of hearing from RadioShack, I heard from CalEMA, apparently I'm getting to the next round of exams for that AV Tech job. Neat, right?

Jane - Thanks for your insights! Playing in the pool sounds like so much fun! The best part is that you don't really realize how much of a workout you're getting!

Alisha - Gotta do what you feel like doing! How exciting that you hear dback from CalEMA! I'll continue sending positive energy and keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

I went to the grocery to pick up a few things I was needing. Today is my scheduled rest day and I'm taking it by golly! Will pick up again with my schedule tomorrow. On a good note, I've dropped my weight back down below 130. I had gotten up to 132.8! Ouch! I'm at 128.4 now, so I feel better! I'd feel great if I could get back below 125 though! If I get my food back under control I shouldn't have a problem! I also know that I do better on P90X and I wasn't even following the meal plan last time. I think I'm going to try it this time.

Now...here is my workout for tonight. I think this one is going to be bad!

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 reps of Thrusters
20 sit ups each round
200m run each round


Alisha ~ Congrats on the call back (or whatever) from CalEMA!!! How exciting! You are going to nail it, girl!

Tricia ~ You look great no matter what the scale says. I don't even want to know what the scale says for me. When I was doing all cardio I was down to 128 pounds but then I started adding in weights and things and it went up. I eat better now than when I did then though.

I never got to HsCkt this past week. I could do it tomorrow. We shall see. I did go for a jog and then did 15 minutes of a Tai Chi stretch with Kathy Smith from the Aerobox disc. Only thing is Kathy Smith didn't teach it, rather some of her friends did but that was fine. I will definitely do some Cathe tomorrow.

I have slacked a lot this week. Not used to Stephen's reduced night school schedule. He's home now except for Monday and Wednesday nights. I have to acclimate and get to moving even when he's home! I think I still get that panicked feeling that I won't have time with him if I take that hour to work out. Only a few more weeks and he'll be home every night. Woo-hoo! I expect to do better next week! I'll have kettlebell DVDs to work out with! Can't wait!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I can't believe it went so fast. :(

I took a rest day on Saturday. I went over to mom's house and helped her around the house. We were suppose to work in the yard but we ended up having an all day rain!! We haven't had an all day rain in months! It was nice for a change and we really needed the rain.

On Sunday I was up early for a 9 mile run. I felt a bit winded in the beginning but felt better as the miles went on. The air temperature was in the low 70's but the humidity was 100%. Luckily it was mostly overcast so that was nice. Everything looked so lush and green!

I am working out today but have to find a workout. I try to prepare but sometimes I am overwhelmed because I have so many workouts to choose from!!

Alisha ~ How was you weekend? I hope you did something fun.

Tricia ~ A whole tab to myself?? I feel very special!! Hope you had a fantastic weekend!

This is my last week of work before I go on vacation. I'm so excited for a week off. We are only going to be 2 hours away but we have a beach rental for the week. Mom promised that she is going to get in the pool. We have a private pool and although she can't swim, she is at least going to sit in it or walk around in the shallow end.

I bbl with today's workout.
 
I took a rest day on Sunday because we went to see Harry Potter. This morning I did 3.5 miles. Tomorrow will be Yoga Today (which sounds like its happening today but its actually happening tomorrow.)

Jane- That sounds like a lovely vacation.

Tricia-Does Stephen know just how popular he is? It takes a lot to get a Cathlete to skip her workout:D

Jane - Enjoy your vacation! How wonderful to have a pool and the beach! I'm sure your mom will enjoy it as will you! Sounds like you're really enjoying that sandbag! I have one on my list now! Yes, Jane, you are now a favorite instructor of mine whose workouts get special treatment!

Alisha - Stephen has no idea what that really means when I opt to spend time with him instead of working out! lol Hope your yoga workout was nice!

Well, I pulled a muscle in my neck last night flipping over in bed. Go figure! Don't get old ladies! This is what happens! I've been downing Advil all day. It made snatches and presses difficult at best tonight. I ended up having to use an 8 lb. dumbbell instead of my KB for my overhead work and it still hurt. I hope it will be better in a couple of days! I really want to be working my kettlebell and getting used to the form!

Tomorrow, I'm going to do an IMAX just because I miss some Cathe! Wednesday, no workout unless I can get up early (yeah, right) since I have an appointment with a new BB customer after work. Thursday is golf, so no traditional workout again after tomorrow until Friday. Darn neck better be completely healed by then! I'll be ready for more KB!

Since I'm solo tonight I did Gym Style Legs. Wow...I have done this one in a while. It felt good!!

Tricia ~ I'm not sure I classify as an instructor but I'm glad you are enjoying the workouts. I hope your neck feels better. My sister is having the same problem. Enjoy IMAX tonight.

I did enjoy my yoga yesterday. Today is a 2.5 mile joggle plus some Desi beg. yoga. I spent yesterday putting in job applications.

Tricia- I hope your neck feels better soon. Have fun with that Imax!

Jane- GS legs seems like such a tough workout, are your legs screamin??

1 - (right) 1-arm swing/1-arm swing left repeat for 30 seconds - transfer to left side - 4 sets

Workout #2
20 seconds work/15 seconds rest - 3 sets
Strict Press R/L or double kettlebell/barbell, etc.
Swing
Thruster R/L or double kettlebell/barbell, etc.
Triple Crush
Squats
4 - Driveway Runs after each set
Hi Alisha - I hope you hear something from your job applications. My legs were wobbly after I did the workout yesterday but they don't feel too bad today.

Jane- I got a second interview with the elderly care facility. Its great because its so close, just 20 miles away, rather than working in town which is 35. I hope they like me!

I am taking a rest day. Its trash day and I hate to run on trash day. ewwww.:confused:

Tricia-Hi!! Don't let Stephen distract you too often. Better yet, let him crew for you on a long run. You know, he can bring you cold drinks, snacks, and fresh socks. That would combine the two, workouts and Stephen time. :D;)

Alisha ~ Good luck on the interview!! I'm keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed (only maybe not my eyes). How could they not love you??? The location is always important. I'm so glad my company moved closer to my home. It's only a 25-30 minute drive compared to a 40-45 minute drive and only 5 stoplights and a couple of good restaurants nearby.
