Wow, am I actually starting the thread today?!

Chris, that's so nice that you're making the trip to Dylan's calling hours. I'm sure it'll be a comfort to his family. I know, I just can't imagine the pain.

Kathy, you're probably off on your vacation already. Hope you're having safe and fun travels!

Chris and Vilma, my DH and I are on similar schedules. He works nights - I work days. It's been really hard. We rarely share kid duties because of our schedules. It's either all me or all him. It's just crazy.

I was thinking today was leg day, but it was actually 4DS Back and Biceps. Nice short workout which I needed today.

I hate to be a downer, but we had some really bad news yesterday and I just feel like I have to "talk" about it. DH holds it all in and can't talk about it right now. I apologize in advance cause this isn't workout related at all. But, I think I mentioned here before that my daughter was born with a complex heart defect and had open heart surgery. She's been doing great. We knew she was going to need another surgery, but every time we go to the cardiologist he says "she's doing great - come back in six months." Well, we went yesterday and he said she needs to have the surgery this summer, the sooner the better. I'm just freaking out. It's less complex than the original surgery, but it's still open heart. This is just so hard. I couldn't sleep - kept have crying episodes. UGH!! It's just not fair! She's only five - how the heck are we supposed to explain this to her? I know it'll turn out fine - she'll do great. She has to. But the waiting and thinking about it is the worst. The surgeon is going to call us later this week to set it up, so I don't know when it'll be yet.

I may try to do an itread during lunch to run off some of this anxiety. Thanks for listening!

Joanne

Hi Everyone!!

Today was supposed to be IMAX3, but I felt like doing something different. I had gotten Hardcore Extreme a WAYS back, and never did it, so I ended up doing the Interval Mix. It was a mix of Low Max and IMAX3, it was VERY cool! All intervals taking me to the MAX..It was fun mixing them up. I did skip the last Kickmax Challenge part, though. So I ended up with 60 minutes, instead of 70. Good stuff!

Thanks, Joanne. You feel so powerless seeing someone lose their child like that, it's the least we can do. Words just don't express the emotions.

So 3 of us are "victims" of the night shift! That's funny! We do what we have to for our families. Seriously, I like the night shift, and couldn't see myself working anything else as a nurse. But during the week, it does get hard. As you said, Vilma, I feel like a single mom sometimes...

Joanne... SOOOO sorry to hear about your daughter. My heart would have sunk to hear those words, after so many well visits and BOOM! She has to have sugery NOW. The waiting and the thinking are the worst. I bet she takes it well. Kids have a way of handling stuff better than adults, I swear. They are tough and so brave!! A friend of mine just had a baby last week that had 'transposition of the great arteries' and had open heart surgery shortly after being born. he did so well, and he so's beautiful. It is TOTALLY amazing that we can do that for babies these days. So many babies , i'm sure, were lost at birth , years ago before technology.

Anyways, giant (((Hugs))) to you !!

Hi everyone

Today is Cardio ( Jogging) and Cathes Muscle Max. I am getting back on track after being sick. Good workout everyone.

Hi Everyone!

Joanne, of course you should feel free to "talk" with us about your daughter's news -- I think we are all very supportive and want to help you through it in whatever way we can. That had to be a tough appointment, and yes, I can imagine it's really hard to sleep. We will all be pulling for you and your family.

On a much lighter note, it's interesting how big the percentage of night shift workers are here on our little checkin! I don't know how you guys do it! I work part-time, and I have a hard enough time wondering how people who work full-time and have kids do it, but to throw the night-shift thing in too -- ay-yi-yi.

Chris, sounds like a really fun combination workout you did. I never bought any of those compilation dvds, but I can see how that could be really fun.

I said yesterday I was going to do strength/strength/strength and really I'm doing strength/circuit/strength these three days. I'm going to do the Gym Styles split Mon/Tues/Wed in a couple of weeks before I go on the road trip. I did Dove 3 today, and felt like I could still do more, so did about 40 minutes of Dove 4. I was still very sore from MIS yesterday. Tomorrow I think I'll do ME.

cheers,
-Beth

Hey Girls!!! Chris, Beth, Joanne.....Pushed through PowerHour this morning....and I can tell you, my Heart Just Wasn't in it!!!! I felt really tired.

Joanne, so sorry about your daughter!!! My heart and prayers are with you!!! I think it was Chris that mentioned how kids really do take these things in stride. They do much better than we do. I have three kids myself, ages 37, 31, and 16. And no the 16 was not an accident.....I had to have my tubes untied in order to have him. He has just gotten his drivers license and THAT in itself is so scary for me. So although an open heart surgery is scary in itself, at least the Dr. knows what he is dealing with. Vent, cry and post all you want just be upbeat for your daughter. She will be fine and will definitely be on my prayer list.

OK, forgot to tell you ladies something.....remember how I said I bought the "Michelle Obama" dress to wear to my son's wedding in August? Well, the wedding is OFF!!! Yep! He tried to just postpone until January and she just broke it off, AND kept the ring, AND told him he owes her $3200 in deposits, well actually her father. I wish I had a Daddy that would pay for a wedding when I was 36! Fishy, huh? Anyway, guess I'll wear my dress to church. I'll send you pictures.

Tomorrow....I have IMAX 2 on tap. Wish me luck! :)

Thanks to everyone for their support and hugs. It's tough, but we'll get through it. The surgeon's office will probably be calling at the end of the week. I'm going to ask them about the best way to talk to her about this - I'm sure they've dealt with it many times.

Chris, my daughter actually has defect similar to your friend's baby, but with a couple other defects. You are so right - it is absolutely amazing what they can do now. My daughter's defect is really rare and the surgery they did for it when she was two was relatively new - only about 15 years old. I just love her cardiologist and the surgeon and his team. They are all just wonderful, so at least we have some comfort that she's in the best hands.

Chris, that premix sounds fun! I like Imax3, but it's so high impact!
60 minutes of MAX stuff is just plenty, I think!

Beth, I do work full-time (one day a week I work at home) with kids, and you're right, it's tough!! Between mine and DH's schedules, it's amazing we're still together! Wow, you did Dove 3 and most of 4?? I got mine in the mail yesterday. I'm not sure when I'm going to try them, though, since I'm doing this other rotation. I may have to sneak on in, though.

Deb, I'm dreading that driver's license stuff! My oldest is almost 12, so we have a few years yet. What a sad situation with your son's wedding! How is he handling it? Well, at least you got a great dress out of it, right?!

I did go and do an itread during lunch. I feel so much better. I looked at the rotation and realized I was supposed to do B&G stability ball abs today too. Oops! I'll get them in tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone.

Joanne

Hi Girls - This is a quick fly by post .
I promise to go back a read your posts and do personals.

I am now getting ready to do another CC mish mosh followed by BM2 Double Upper Body premix.

I just woke up from a much needed 2 1/2 hour nap.

I went to bed past midnight due to DD getting off at that time she closed the store and woke up early at 530am as my son had to have very minor surgery on his hand due to a spider bite. He's fine with his hand in stitches and dressings on but I was exhausted.

Well off I go.

BBL

Back and decided that my run was enough for today.

The UB that was scheduled for today was just too darned long for me and honestly I just was not in the mood as I had to get dinner started anyway, so I'll see if I tack it on tomorow instead lol.

Tonight everyone here is home besides dh of course so I plan on just going to bed early as my body still craves that and I will get up bright and early to workout.

I absolutely love it when I can just veg out at night here and not have to worry about playing taxi so late. So once hubby is off to work I want to soak in my tub, read a magazine, meditate and off to dreamland :)

Joanne:

You have no worries about bringing ypour news to this thread. You need to talk and vent and I have no issues with that at all.

You have my sincere thoughts and prayers for your daughter's quick and unhampered recovery. I honestly can't even begin to imagine what you are going through I would be reacting the same way. Big Hugs to you- really!

It WILLturn out fine and your baby girl WILL do great!

Chris:

Sounds like you made a good choice there. I have sooo many Cathe's but lately I've been addicted to my CC's and iTreads for cardio.

I'll need to check that one out again as it's been like forever when I did any segments of Hardcore Extreme last.

Yup victim of the night shift - one good and bad thing is that I have the entire bed to myself but thats the bad thing too I miss having my dh sleep beside me when I go to bed.

Beth:

So how are you enjoying Dove's workouts?

Like I said before; I've seen all the posts about it but if I ever get any other non Cathe dvds it will be Zumba 1st lol. I truly need good music with my workouts and I've heard the issues about her 1 & 2 workouts that the music is not as loud but that #4 rocks ;)

Thats encouraging lol

Deb:

I have my almost in a week 18 yr old still needing to go in for her license and honestly as much as it scares me she needs hers. With her going to college in the fall and work I get tired of playing taxi when I still have my other two to drop off at school and take to their school games esp my son who does cross county and track in HS Gahhh!

She only has her permit which means I need to be in the car with her when she drives and she does good driving although she can improve her turns as I feel she goes too wide and too fast but she's getting better lol

Wow sorry to hear about your son's wedding getting called off? Is there any signs of reconciliation between them?

Ok I think I got everyone :D
Have a good evening all!
