JulieL- about running and parks

Julie- As for running, I usually run once or twice a week about 3-4 miles a time. When pregnant, I keep that up as long as I can. It's usually this St. Louis heat that makes me quit running before the actual pregnancy. I am a really SLOW and heavy footed runner too. But, regardless, it feels good to finish a run.

As for the riverfront, it is really convenient for me because I work downtown. However, it's only 1.7 miles around the whole archground. And, the parking and accessability are just terrible, reminding me each time I run why our riverfront needs so much help. the stairs are great for 'interval' training.

I usually run in the parks down here (the city), like Lafayette, Tower Grove, Benton Park and Lyon Park. I live right next to the brewery, which makes a great run. I love looking at the Anheuser-Busch clydesdales and hearing the bottle sounds in the brewery. I like Forest Park, but never seem to get over there as often as I used to (we used to live in the CWE).

i used to go to clayton/shaw park a lot as a kid. how's the new baby pool there? It looks pretty cool. take care! Kristan

I think that is great that you are able to keep 3-4 miles up! I think because I took a long break starting in Dec from running that my hips aren't conditioned for a longer run than 2 miles. I really had to work up to 6.5 because my joints just couldn't handle it. Last summer I ran 3 miles after months of not running and about died. Although my legs felt fine my hips where hurting at the end, but I didn't realize how much till that night when I couldn't sleep on my sides I was so sore. I hurt for 2 or 3 days that badly - that's what I get for being an over achiever! I have no clue how long I can keep up 2 miles even, with the change your joints go through in pregnancy. I think I just have bad joints, they pop and crackle all over! I run around Shaw Park, did run on Wydown last summer and fall (LOVE LOVE running there - gorgeous!), through Clayton, but right now it has to be fflllaaatttt for me to feel comfortable to run. My husband runs from Clayton to Forest Park often - I personally haven't run there. I think today we are going to head back to Creve Coeur - hopefully the weather won't be quelchering like yesterday! How long do you usually maintain a running schedule pregnant? You sound like you are doing a great job! Oh the baby pool at Shaw Park is great, I love going there. We will get our summer membership this week! :)
