Joint supplements - what have you used?

I had a severe knee injury 2 years ago and also have had severe arthritis for decades. The ortho recommended I try glucosamine/chondrotin as a supplement. I had tried it years ago when dx with arthritis but didn't find it helpful, but agreed to try it again. I tried different brands and formulations. I don't think the glucosamine/chondrotin (G/C) is effective for me, but did notice some improvement with the formula that had MSM added. So I'm going to discontinue the G/C &
use MSM & see how that goes. I do eat an anti-inflammatory diet & take Omega3s, sometimes use turmeric, Boswellia, and I find this very helpful.

Just curious - what supplements do you take for joint issues? How effective do you think it is for you?

I think collagen helps my achy fingers. Not 100% but I can tell when I miss a few days, so I try not to miss a few days.
oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. I also take collagen and recently upped my dose. I try to make sure I take it with Vit. C, either in fruit/berries or from a supplemnt. I think it helps also.

I've been taking G/C 750mg/250mg, one tablet daily, for years. I still get aches, but it gets a lot worse if I skip a few days, especially in my knees. I also take a powder containing MSM and turmeric with my morning smoothie that helps with inflammation, and collagen. As well as supplements I have a red/infrared light bulb that I use for 5-10 minutes on any problem areas. I use it on my right hip every day where I have tendonitis and sometimes on my hands if they are sore after weightlifting.

I'm going to finish my current supply of G/C and then monitor ... if my symptoms worsen, then I'll know it was helping and resume. I used to make a concoction called "golden milk" with tumeric, black pepper and some other stuff (cinnamon, ginger, and others that I'm not recalling) that I put in my morning coffee but didn't notice any difference taking or not taking, so stopped.

I'm looking into this option as I've read good things .... sounds interesting!
