Jogglers October!!! 2011

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Glad you had a good day yesterday! I wish I had more hours in my day to do meditation and all the other fun things!

Jane - At least you can color yours! I'm going grey at the temples and it's not pretty! lol That's a lot of rain! We get weeks where we don't see the sun for days up here! Typical in the spring which is really depressing because it keeps the temperatures down at a time when we're all ready for a warm up! I won't be running any races either, but I do love a nice run!

Ended up not getting it done today though. Due to the tire shop being closed yesterday, I had to take the car today for new tires and my boss was chauffering me around. I left when he was ready so I could pick up the car and came home. I prefer to run right after work right from the office, so I'll just do it tomorrow. Nothing I have to do that will keep me from it then.

Day 2 of this challenge was a little tough! I ended up with a headache this afternoon and a HUGE craving for cooked food! Not sure it it was detox or just coincidence, but I'm better now. Hope tomorrow isn't this bad! I won't make it a week, much less 30 days if this keeps up for too long! I made Stephen tomato basil soup and fresh bread yesterday. Believe it or not, I didn't crave it, but the bread did smell good! I would have caved today if it were baking today!

Think I'm over the hump though. Hope so anyway!

Have a great night ladies!

Tricia-Tell me about your bread baking, is it sourdough or whole wheat? I just do the meditation before bed cause otherwise I just lay there with my brain going a mile a minute. :p I don't think I could manage to go raw for 30 days. I might be able to manage 2/3 meals a day, but probably not all 3. I could see smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch, but then long about dinner it would fly out the window with a piece of chicken.:D:p

Jane-I should be coloring my hair but I'm too lazy:eek: We had a little rain and now its toasty again. Its going to be in the high 80s today. I think I better water the plants.

I went for a jog/walk this morning on a trail that I am not so familiar with, it was great meeting dogs that I didn't know already. I met a husky that was the sweetest dog ever! Is that what they mean by puppy love? idk.:p:rolleyes: This evening will be a yoga practice with Shiva Rae. I plan to spend the day studying, both for the LSAT and programming.

Alisha

I forgot to post yesterday.

I did my infamous 400 rep squats yesterday (back, Zercher, Thrusters and Sumo). My legs don't feel sore....yet. I guess I need to up the weight or increase the reps or add walking lunges.

Here's my workout for tonight:

400m Run
40 Ball Slams
400m Run
40 Weighted Sit ups
40 Swings
400m Run
40 Squats
40 Step ups (40 each leg)
400m Run

I HAVE to color my hair. I was born blonde...I am a natural blonde but most blondes go dark at some point. If I didn't color my hair...it would be drab and ugly. I'm not sure if there is a name for my hair color now...plus I got gray in there now...so I gotta do it.

Alisha ~ I love meeting new doggies. We visit with Scout on my long runs. Last time I saw Scout, he needed a bath. Hope you have a good day studying.

Tricia ~ There is no way I could go raw. I LOVE eggs...gotta have them and a pizza on my cheat day.

The sun is out today!! :D

Evening ladies!

Alisha - I baked my bread in my bread machine this time. Just a 2 lb. country loaf. I did have some sourdough starter int he fridge for a while and was baking by hand, but I fell out of that.

Sounds like you had a nice hike today! Hope the studying is going well!

Jane - Great workouts! I keep copying the ones you post into an Evernote folder!
I was cheating way too much and needed a way to curb the cheating without being able to justify eating it anyway, plus I loved all the benefits you get from it. However, I'm missing cooking! I love to cook and miss it. I'm pretty sure I can make it through these 30 days, but I don't know if I will be able to do it 100% forever. I, too, love a pizza now and then and my fish, even though I'm getting concerned about how much fish we eat and all the toxins. Sigh. See, vegan or raw is really the way to go. All our meat is poisoned. I had a discussion with Stephen about doing thirds - raw, vegan and pescatarian. That way, we can eat more fruits and veggies, but still be able to eat fish now and then. I know I can stay raw from breakfast through until dinner. That's where I have my problem. I love delicious dishes for dinner!

Of course, the raw pad thai I had tonight was divine! It's squash noodles and sauce, but the sauce is amazing! I could just eat that! lol I can't wait to get a dehydrator so I can make burgers and crackers and stuff!

Down a total of 3 lbs. so far. I'm going to hold off weighing again until Monday morning. That will be one week on. I'm hoping to only have that one cooked meal all week, but the weekends are my trouble spots! Don't know if I'll be able to go without my chunky monkey pancakes!

Have a great night! I'll see you tomorrow! FRIDAY! Yippee!

Tricia- toxins in fish don't appeal to me either. Those pancakes sound good! If you can't go without, just make them with the Spectrum coconut oil instead of corn or canola, and your metabolism will get a major boost, you will burn fat all weekend. How is Stephen holding up with the new diet? I'm thinking about adding kale to smoothies, spinach is a no brainer, I also want to get a great chocolate protein powder to keep my protein up. That means I have to go to the co-op.

3 lbs is great!!:D

Jane- Its ok to forget to post, we'll still be here, I promise. Thats a great looking workout! I love some pizza too! That reminds me to make the pizza dough today.

I am fighting a mild cold. I had green gunk in my nose. I did Step Reebok with Gin Miller this morning. Now I remember why I do Cathe instead. I like Gin a lot, but my hr was not very high at all. I plan to do some belly dance this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a jog/walk and some yoga. I plan to spend the day studying.

Alisha

TGIF!!

I am going for a 3 mile run tonight. It's beautiful today!!

Tricia ~ I admire you for going raw. I don't think I could do it. The only fish I eat is wild Salmon about 2x a week. Every so often I will have grouper but that is only if I go out to eat. I don't eat much red meat, maybe once or twice a month but I do eat chicken every week.

Congrats on the 3lbs.!!! I am losing weight ever since I cut down on my cheese consumption, cut down on portion sizes and reduced one snack. Although I don't own a scale I can tell because my clothes are fitting better.

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better. Green gunk is better than a bloody ear that I had earlier in the month. I had horrible sinus pressure. Thankfully it has cleared up.

Have a great Friday!!

Jane- I'm so sorry about your ear! That sounds .. . gross:confused:

Tricia- Did you get your workout in???

I'm not feeling like a workout. My tootsies hurt. But, I'm thinking that belly dance tape I meant to do all last week might be the thing plus some yoga.

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Totally forgot to check in last night. I was too busy splurging on pizza. :(

Alisha - Stephen in NOT participating in the raw diet. That's what's making things difficult for me. I tried a smoothie with kale once. It was awful, but I think I used too much kale to start with, plus my blender isn't powerful enough to pulverize it where there are no pieces. I hope your cold doesn't get worse!

Gin Miller was great back in the day, but with Cathe around, no one else seems to be quite as intense! Hope you enjoyed belly dance! I didn't get a workout in until today, but I did Kenpo X at Fit Club tonight!

Jane - I'm loving the recipes in My Living on Live Foods book! They're really tasty! I need a dehydrator to really increase the variety! Soon!

So, we had pizza last night and our pancakes this morning and boy did my digestive system protest! Who knew only five days on raw food could make that big of a difference that fast! I always would have a bit of a tummy ache after pancakes, but really! This was awful! I made sure to journal it, so next time, I can go back and read it and talk myself out. However, I don't think it will take that much. Ugh. I'm back on raw tomorrow. I don't think I would have reacted that badly if I had eaten cleaner or just cooked at home last night. Still, I think I'm adjusting, but now, I have to start over again after last night and today. It'll be okay. I've ordered some sprouting seeds since my recipes for this week call for sprouts. I just hope they get here soon enough. I'll work with the recipes that don't require sprouts first. They'll take a few days to sprout to where they can be used. Wish me luck! This will be totally new to me!

Have a great night!

Tricia- I'm sorry that the pancakes bit you back:( That sux! Regular pizza would bite me too. Did you try chewing up some papaya enzymes? Since you were eating all raw all week, I imagine you don't have the enzymes to eat cheese and cooked meat. Sprouting reminds me of the chia pet.:D

Jane- Good morning!

I'm going for a hike/jog this morning. My pants are in the dryer. :p I also have Sean Corn on a netflix to try.

Alisha

Hi Girls!

I haven't checked in all weekend. I can't believe it's almost over. :(

Saturday morning I did High Reps upper body only. Then it was off to mom's for most of the day.

This morning I ran 12 miles solo as my sister sprained her ankle on the run Friday night. Usually I do that. She ended up being my crew and driving the route supplying me with water and gels. She was so nice and made the long trek easier. I felt really good. Hopefully she will be able to join me in a long run next weekend.

Alisha - Well...the bloody ear was gross but it was all due to sinus pressure. I never had that happen before but once my sinus started to drain, then it stopped bleeding. Very weird. Hope you had a nice hike/jog today.

Tricia - I hope you're feeling better. Wow...the raw thing sounds really hard but it sounds like you are really committed and that is fantastic!!

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Jane- What a nice sister you have! I hope her ankle is feeling better today. That is weird about your ear. How is your Mom? I don't have:eek: High Reps, is it fun? I did enjoy yesterday's joggle/walk-le.

Tricia- How is your tummy today? I don't know if I ever mentioned this but for about 10 years, from age 11 until 21, I was a vegetarian because my tummy wouldn't digest meat. I have no idea why, thats just the way it worked out. I didn't even do eggs because I had a reaction. Now, I can eat mostly whatever (if I cooked it, commercial still doesn't agree with me.)

I did 30 min. of yoga last night with Sean Corn. I kind of feel like she is yelling at me:confused:. Its a good disc, but I did turn the volume down. I did Step Moves this morning and I only burned 348 cal. Its time to add more risers. :D I'm ready to up the ante so to speak. Tomorrow will be a jog/walk.

I'm going to spend the day studying. Its sunny, clear, and warm. In the evening I will be making a batch of golden raisin rye muffins, they are dairy free and very delicate. They are made with honey and coconut oil instead of any dairy. Baking powder makes them fluffy. I found them in a light cook book from Canada, what gave it away was all the measurements in grams.

Alisha

Alisha ~ My sister's ankle is better this morning. It looked like the swelling had gone down and she was able to get a shoe on.

My mom is doing much better. We take her to Gainesville on Friday for her appointment with the oncologist so hopefully it will go well then we are heading up to Jacksonville for shopping. Mom's strength is coming back and she doesn't get as tired as before so it's all good.

High Reps is fun! It moves a lot faster than some of her other workouts (which I like).

It's not nice when someone yells at you. :( Those muffins sound wonderful!! Hope you are enjoying the beautiful day.

Hi Tricia!

Jane- That looks like a great workout! I'm glad that both your sister and Mom are doing better. Maybe I will get high reps for my birthday in March.

Tricia- How was your workout today?

I'm going for a hike/joggle in a hour when the sun comes up. Around here we don't go out before the sunrises because of the mountain lions. This evening will be more yoga.

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Alisha - My tummy recovered! Thanks! I couldn't imagine yoga and yelling at the same time! lol Hope your studying went well! Those raisin rye muffins sound delicious! I was wondering today if it was possible to bake without eggs! Guess that answers my question. How was your joggle/hike today?

Jane - Great workout yesterday! So happy for your sister and your mom! I hope your mom's appointment goes really well on Friday! Wish I could be with you in Jacksonville (FL?), I'd love to see my mom! yes, ulterior motives!

I'm going to stop trying to make myself workout by posting that I"m going to workout. It isn't working. Hmph. Maybe turning 50 on Saturday will motivate me to move my butt? I think we're going to play golf this weekend. It's supposed to be nice, but a little cool. Not sure what else we'll do. My boss gave me a bottle of wine and a great Dr. Seuss birthday card today! He's off to Florida for 10 days, so he gave it to me early.
That was sweet!

Well, I keep trying to psyche myself up for a workout every day. At some point, it's bound to stick, right?

Happy Hump Day,

This was my workout from yesterday. Those step ups were HARD!!

20 Swings
50 butterfly sit ups
20 Weighted Step ups
20 Swings
30 Weighted Sit ups
20 Weighted Step ups
20 Swings
50 Russian Twists
20 Weighted Step ups
20 Swings
30 Pull over sit ups
20 Weighted Step ups
20 Swings

Today is leg day so I'll be doing lots of squats and thrusters. I may add in some walking lunges as well.

Alisha ~ I would not run around with mountain lions around even though I LOVE lions! I saw a fox while I was running last year. They don't like people so once he saw us he was gone.

Tricia ~ Keep at the workouts. Don't beat yourself when you don't workout but reward yourself when you do. You just need to find a schedule that works best for you so keep trying to find what works best for you.

Yes....turning 50 might motivate you to get going.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jane - Hope you have a great day, too! I'm going to try working with 30 minute workouts and see how that goes.

I'm going to be modifying my raw challenge to include vegan dishes, cooked, it's just getting too chilly! lol I seem to be fine doing raw morning through lunch, if I'm prepped and have plenty to eat already, but by dinner, I'm ready for a warm meal! It's just the time of year. I may have to retry the 100% raw come next summer. By then, I will hopefully be all geared up with the appliances I need!

My sprouting seeds should be here today. I'll get them soaking tonight so I can have my sprouts for some other recipes I have on tap by mid-week next week.

Hi Alisha! I'm just home for lunch and popping in! Hope you're having a great day!

Here's my workout for tonight. It was very chilly this morning and today it is in the 70's...never fear it will be back in the 80's next week.

1. Suitcase DLs 10 x 3 sets
2. Swings 20 x 3 sets
3. Weighted Sit ups 25 x 3 sets
4. Med Ball Jump Squats 20 x 2 sets
5. Pull ups 10 x 2 sets
6. Farmer's Walk x 3 sets up and down the driveway
200m Run after each set of exercises

Tricia ~ I think that is a good eating plan. It sounds like it would be a major change and whenever you make that big of a change it is bound to be hard. When I first started losing weight it was the small changes that seem to stick and then I kept modifying diet as the time went on. I eat better now that I ever have.

Hi Alisha!

I won't be around tomorrow but will be back sometime on Saturday.

Yesterday was my rest day. Today was Low Max. Tomorrow will be a jog/walk.

I woke up really early from a night mare at 4:30 am, I dreamt I was wrongly accused of murdering Matt Damon with a croquet bat. Of course, I didn't do it! I swear! Then there was a mock trial and I had to defend myself, which I did admirably of course, being from my family we can manage a legal defense. But, it wasn't easy! Did I mention, George Clooney was also in this dream, he was the real killer, went into the drink and drowned with Matt. Needless to say, I'm exhausted. The whole dream was in period costumes that didn't match at all.

Jane- That looks like a tough workout. Its in the 80s here.

Tricia-Maybe it would be ok to modify, just do it 2/3 meals raw. I love vegan meals. Yesterday I made quinoa, artichoke hearts, and a granny smith apple. It was really tasty and can be vegan if you make the quinoa with vegetable broth. I think that being cooked or raw is not really that helpful, but rather that our naughty treats are all cooked!:p Lets see, ice cream, cake, cookies, pies, yep. . .all cooked. But, hey you went a week without junk, thats a major improvement.

Evening ladies!

Jane - Great workout! I do love the raw meals - especially the desserts! lol Healthy, raw and good for me. You can't beat that! Kills any desire for bad sweet treats if I make and eat raw desserts.

Alisha - If you have to have a nightmare, might as well go all the way! lol True, I made one whole week with no crap food! I intend to keep working with it and just add a cooked, healthy meal when I have to have one. If I start feeling the need for sweets, I'll make a raw dessert. They're quick and easy! We had banana ice cream with strawberry sauce the other night and even Stephen thought it was really good!

Stephen got me my dehydrator for my birthday. I'm so excited! I can't wait to work with it and start making some warm raw foods with it! Crackers for raw spreads, crepes, burgers, etc. I also got my sprouting seeds yesterday and just started soaking some to try to sprout over the weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Didn't work out tonight, but planning on 3 days during the week and the weekends. Planning on plyo legs tomorrow!

Have a great night you two!

Tricia- Ooh! That dehydrator sounds like fun!

I'm going for a jog/walk this morning. Tomorrow is a rest day. I will be out taking photos of fall colors.

Jane-Hi!!

Alisha
