Jogglers November 2012

I am going for a run tonight..probably around 3 miles. It's cloudy today but that's fine because I will be running in the dark anyway.

Alisha ~ Love that you said...going to the coop to get some chicken eggs. LOL! :D

Hi Tricia!

Alisha - Ha, ha! Never noticed the co-op/coop connection! Good one! I hope your meditation works well for you! Whenever I meditate, I feel so much better! This week has been a bust for me and I have an eye appointment tomorrow after work, so I'll get back to it on Friday. I think I'm going to merge Tapout and RevAbs since Stephen got both of them on the Mac Mini for me (the other one). We also got the sick one back and it's working beautifully again! Yay! Stephen transferred everything onto the new hard drive from our Time Machine backup. So I'm back on Mac!

Jane - Enjoy your run this evening and stay safe!

One more day at work, then I'm free until the 26th! Yay! Got my Kimihomo kit today! Going to check everything out and read the instructions. I'm going to try to wait until I'm on vacation to work with it, so I have something new to try! We'll see if I make it!

Have a great night!

I'm doing Shred it with weights in a couple of minutes. I'm dressed, all set up, and I have my kettlebells out. I just drank some lemon/pepper/honey and it takes a minute before I'm not sloshy. I put some chicken in the oven so that I would have something hot and tasty after my workout. I went with lime/chiptole/garlic. I plan to dye my hair after my workout. The grays are getting me 'ma'am-ed' a lot. I try to just think of it this way: I could have died instead of getting to the point where I have grays.:D Tomorrow will be Buns of Steel 6. I'm a little scared of Cathe. If BOS6 is easy, then we will see.

Alisha

Good Afternoon,

I am doing a total body weight workout but I don't feel like typing it out. So just so you know - legs, back, chest, shoulders, biceps and triceps will all be worked out tonight.

Alisha ~ I'll be over soon for that chicken. It sounds wonderful!! I have gray hair but actually my original color is ugly. I was born blonde...very pale but I guess most natural blondes go dark. I use Garnier. The gray mixes in well with my ugly natural color though so it doesn't show up really bad.

Tricia ~ The run was good last night. It was rainy but not bad and we just ran around our block 5 or 6 times. I don't like running in the dark far away even though I'm well lit with a vest reflector, and head lamp not to mention the clothes I wear that have built in reflectors. My sister gave me some arm/leg bands that flash red or stay constant red so I'm lit like a Christmas tree.

Enjoy your vacation. I am taking the 26th and 27th off. I'm doing a 1/2 marathon on the 25th in Cocoa Beach. I'm so excited! Only 10 days to go. I am also taking off the week of Christmas although I'm working Monday because I doubt that we will work the whole day. I also have 4 hours I have to use up so I may leave early one day.

Alisha - Enjoy your workouts! I know what you mean about being scared to do Cathe right now! I'm mish-moshing Tapout and RevAbs starting today since they are both finally on the computer! Somehow, I'm going to stick running in there 3 days a week as well even if I have to do it back to back on the weekends with only one during the week. That chicken does sound yummy!

Jane - That half sounds like fun! I've never been to Cocoa Beach! Take some pics if you can! I'll be off Christmas week also! Works out well since these are the times Stephen has off from school.

Went to my eye doctor last night. Filled him in on the problems I've been having at work. Since it's not all the time, we both think it's due to the times I am typing a lot consistently and my tears are drying out. He gave me some drops to try. They are over the counter at least. He says that my rosacea also causes a drying of the water in the tears, so that doesn't help. We shall see. My prescription didn't change, but my lenses are pretty scratched up so I ordered new ones. I can put them on my medical expense card which is pretty loaded since I don't buy meds anymore.

That's all my news today! Going to do my kumihimo project today. After it's done, I'll need to find a nice pendant to put on it before adding the toggle clasp. I might buy a stone and wire and just do a wrapped stone to put on, depends on what I can find that I like!

Have a great Friday you two! I'll check back in tonight and let you know how the workouts went!

TGIF!

Tricia ~ I'm glad your eye doctor appointment went well. Take pictures of kumihimo project if you can. I would love to see the finished project.

Hi Alisha!

I couldn't do bos6, I'm too sore. Sigh. Thats what happens when you start working out again, walking is hurting. But, thats ok, I will do some yoga tomorrow. I'm finally feeling like I might have some green smoothies again. I couldn't digest them during my antibiotics. But with my probiotics, I'm finally feeling a bit better. I was up and sick to my stomach last night, but my brain fog is lifting.

Tricia- I am loving this kumihomo idea, post pictures. I hope that the drops help your eyes.

Jane- I was born blond, but it turned by the time I was mid teens. All of us were born blond and turned, except my sister, and her kids turned too. Your half marathon sounds like a blast. Good job on your workout.

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Been quite bummed since yesterday. Took my car in finally to Inskip, since my co-worker's husband, who is the mechanic I talked to about fixing never called me back, and they found a bunch of other big problems that have to be fixed. $3600! Yep. No Christmas for us this year and it uses up all my credit card balance and any cash we have left. Yikes!

Oh well. I'm trying not to think about it and just keep my mind occupied, but that's hard to do every waking moment. I also already finished by kimihimo braid, but haven't finished it yet as far as capping the ends and stuff. I still need to find a pendant to put on it, but that'll be on hold for while now. I'll get a pic tomorrow and post it here. It's pretty. The only thing is remembering to stop with an extra strand on top of the wheel if I'm going to put it down for a while! It's the only way to remember where you left off! Can't wait to try other types of braids and start adding beads!

Alisha - Yeah, the starting back soreness is a bugger, but it gets better!

Jane - Great workout! I find it funny now that you think 50 is cold! lol

Back to working out tomorrow. Might as well, it's going to be all I have for a while! Darn it! Took up the kumihimo because braiding thread is cheaper than beading supplies and I knew I'd be able to pick stuff up pretty cheap on a regular basis! Never fails! Maybe by summer, we'll be back in the black again.

Anyway, don't want to bring you gals down too much.

Have a great night and I'll chat at you tomorrow!

Happy Monday!

I took Saturday as a rest day and Sunday I ran 12 miles. I felt good! The weather was so beautiful! Tonight will be an upper body workout. I'm trying to stick to the upper body and cardio this week as I want to save my legs for the half on Sunday. I will do my last run on Thursday morning - mostly likely 3 miles and that will be it until the half. I'm excited!

I caved and had to put on the heat to get the chill out of the house on Saturday. This week we will be in the 70's for highs and 40-50's for lows. So that I can handle. I am wimpy when it comes to weather. I guess when you are used to the 90's for most of the year, temps in the 50's feels cold.

Alisha ~ I hope you are feeling less sore. Ouch! How was your weekend?

Tricia ~ {{{Hugs}}}...so sorry about your car. Those expenses can come right up and bite you in the butt. I hope things get better for you soon!

The braiding sounds beautiful. Can't wait to see the picture.

I developed a nasty cold on Saturday. But, thanks to my lemon drinks, I have gotten better already. I'm still sore from that kettlebell workout. I had designed a rotation for this week, but I'm not up to weights yet. I am reaching into my older bag of tricks: my Kathy Smith workouts may be the better choice while I build my strength back up. I'm thinking Kathy Smith then Jillian and then Cathe, in that order. I have the oddest soreness from walking in wet conditions on Saturday. Both my Mom and I got little egg shaped doms on the outside of each knee. We went to a craft fair and bought some ear rings for me and a new quilted bag with wild colored happy frogs on it for my iphone.

Jane- your run sounds awesome!!! I think that temps in the 50s is cold. Its in the 60s here. I am so excited for your half marathon!!!

Tricia- I'm so sorry about your car. I feel your pain, it would take about that much to fix my car. :( Until I have a job to pay for it, I can't get her fixed.

Alisha

I'm going to see Twilight this morning, then its to the pharmacy, and the grocery store. I do have a Crunch Fitness DVD for tomorrow called 'Cardio Go Go' its hi/lo for 44 minutes. It should be easier than my other DVDs, just right to get started again.

Happy Holidays!!!

Alisha

Hi Chicklets,

I am doing the Prisoner Workout with kettlebells - mainly farmers walk and swings. I may add on some other stuff...like jump rope and abs. I'm just trying to keep my legs fresh.

Alisha ~ It sounds like you had fun at the craft fair. Sorry about the soreness that you and your mom got. I'm glad you are feeling better. Have fun at the movies.

Tricia ~ Hope you are enjoying your vacation.

Jane- Have a great race!!

I'm definitely doing Cardio A Go go (no boots included, just my normal workout shoes.) Its just my Mom and I tomorrow. I do have a Turkey to roast and plenty of veggies to enjoy. I don't think I'm going to make any treats. Its just too much of a temptation. Its better if that kind of thing is not in the house.

Alisha

I ended up doing a Taebo workout last night. It was fun! I haven't done that in a long time. It was old-school on VHS no less.

Today is a rest day, tomorrow I am going to go for a 3 mile run then I'm resting (as hard as that may be) Friday and Saturday. Sunday is the 1/2.

We are going to mom's for dinner tomorrow. It was very a casual affair, just 5 of us and no turkey. We are having chicken instead (stuffed with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and mozzarella), potatoes, rolls and probably a salad. Dessert will be Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Stout Cake that I am making tonight.

Alisha ~ I wish I could be as good as you! Holidays are when I allow myself to eat something naughty. I'll probably have crap on Saturday night and Sunday morning. I get so hungry when I run half marathons.

Hi Tricia!

That DVD was the worst DVD ever. I am so glad it was a netflix. My ears are worse again, I had to go back on the antibiotics starting today. By this evening, they look much better. Its only been two weeks since I was off the meds, I don't know if its resistant, or I wasn't on the meds long enough, or if I just got re-infected. In any case: yucko. But, last time I lose two pounds, so I'm going to go back on low calorie, meals 4x/day. Weighed/measured chow. This time, I'm adding walking and daily yoga to the mix because we haven't seen the mountain lion for a long time. I bought the new 'spark people' app for my iphone. I spent today trying out different food combos to see what I could eat for just 300 calories. Its surprising how much veggies you can get for so little calories. :)

I hope that both of you had a lovely holiday.

Jane- Don't worry about the extra calories, salt, and fats: you will need them on your race. I hope the race is great!!

Alisha

I did enjoy yesterday's walk. Today will be some thing. I don't know what yet. I am about to go to the grocery store, we are out of drinking water. At my house, we are on a well that makes red rust colored iron filled water. Its not good for drinking, even my cat gets bottled water. Tomorrow will definitely be a hike and some yoga. I am on my third day of antibiotics and I am feeling much better. I am going to add bilberry to my regimen and some gymnema sylvestre to make sure I don't develop a yeast from the antibiotic.

Hi girls!

The computers in the house have been under the control of our in-house financial researcher, Stephen. I'm stuck on the iPad until tomorrow! I have worked out every day except Friday and today! Friday, all the cooking and baking finally caught up with me and I was really tired. I have had bad DOMS the last 2 days in my gluteus and legs. That's a good thing!

Hopefully, all that work on my car will last until we can get a new one in a few years.

I can't believe it's back to work already tomorrow! This week off flew by!

Unfortunately, I can't scroll through your posts to recall what all you gals talked about so I can comment.

Alisha - Glad that lemon drink really helps with your cold symptoms!

Jane - I'll check back on your half results tomorrow. I already forgot what you posted, but I'm sure you did well!

I'll finally get to upload my pic of my first braided necklace tomorrow! lol I still have to finish and cap the ends, put the clasp on and find a pendant for it, but I like the technique! Time to try a different one! I'll be picking up more materials and books when I can! It's a lot less expensive than working with beads and stones so much with traditional jewelry making.

Catch up better tomorrow!

Happy Monday!

I'm back and had a great time at the 1/2 Marathon yesterday! I think out of the 5 half marathons I've done so far, this is my favorite (although I think I always say that). Anyway the weather was beautiful. It was in the high 40's at the start and in the mid to high 60's at the finish. We took the early bus (4:30am) from the hotel to the race site. Next time I will take the 5:15am bus as we were there much too early. We did however get to walk around the area which was nice. The race started and ended at different spots. It started in Cocoa Village which was a nice area with lots of shops and restaurants and ended in a park. The course was out and back in a residential area with houses on one side and water on the other. It was an open course but I didn't really see any traffic on the road. We got to see the sunrise over the water which was really beautiful and also lots of pelicans having their breakfast. My sister saw dolphins but I didn't. I felt good for most of the race but kinda hit the wall on mile 11 when I felt wonky and wanted to cry (probably because I wanted to be done with the race). I felt better when I hit mile 12 and then just pushed myself to the finish. I didn't know what my time was and figured that I wasn't going to set a PR but my time when I finished was my old PR so I figured that I set a new one. When I saw the results I found out that I did over 5 minutes better so I was really happy about that. My twin sister also set a PR and I saw a running pal at mile 14 mile I was waiting for my sister the finish. She was doing the full marathon and looked great. This was a stellar race with lots of support. My next one is in 80 days!!!!

I was really, really sore yesterday. I think the worse I ever felt after a 1/2 marathon. My lower back, hips and inner thighs were really hurting. I feel better now. I'm off work today and tomorrow and I'm trying to move so much as possible.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry you are having ear problems again. I hope this round of antibotics will do the trick. I'm glad you are able to go outside and walk and hike.

Tricia ~ So happy to hear that you worked out almost every day of your vacation. I'm sorry to had to go back today. I will feel like that on Wednesday. Can't wait to see your braided necklace.

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Sorry about the ear issues! :( Hope you are feeling better today.

Jane - Congrats on the great PR! You and your sister! That sounds like a beautiful course, too! I can only imagine how sore I would be after running that far!

Well, I took photos of my necklace, but haven't been able to get them on here yet. Doesn't look like they transferred to iPhoto from my phone, so I have to try again.

Took today off from working out. Today was a long work day. Not crazy or anything, just dragging. Not too busy. A bit worn out this evening. I think its' just from getting back on schedule. Tomorrow should be better.

Going to go try to do this again with the pictures!

Gloomy day here. My last day of vacation. Tomorrow it is back to work. :(

Here is tonight's indoor workout. My legs are feeling better. My hamstrings are a little tight but it will be good to get a workout in.

5 Rounds
5 Shoulder to Shoulder Sandbag Press
10 Pull ups
15 Push ups
20 Sit ups
25 Squats

Tricia ~ I hope today was a better day for you. It's always hard to get back in the groove.

Alisha ~ I hope you're feeling better.
