Hi Tricia!

Hi ladies!

Alisha - one of us could have been nice and started the new thread, but I was computer less again this weekend. Stephen thought he figured out the problem, but it's still crashing. He spent most of the weekend backing everything up and/or moving it. Glad you're able to workout again and feeling better!

Jane - nice run! Great plan for tonight too!

I picked up with Legs & Back tonight. I liked this one! The TapouT workouts are really good! I'm enjoying them, all except the yoga, of course! lol I'll get there eventually!

Had to break down and turn the heat on tonight. It's going to fall into the 20s and I don't want to risk any pipes freezing! I was cold too. The temp was down to 60, so I know it would have dropped into the 50s by morning and I refuse to stay that cold! It's supposed to warm back up again by the weekend, so we'll probably turn the heat back off again.

Was supposed to go grocery shopping tonight and I went the right way, turned down the right road, but forgot to turn and missed it! It's not an easy turn around and my steering had stiffened up again, so decided to just go home. I'll do it tomorrow. I was bummed because I really wanted to make that African Spicy Peanut Stew in my Clean Eating magazine! Guess that'll be up tomorrow!

Have a great night!

I am taking a rest day. I'm thinking every other day for a while is just fine. I have to go to the dentist for a cleaning this afternoon. I took a really long nap yesterday. I didn't eat much for dinner, I just didn't feel like it. I had 4 little CA rolls for breakfast. I'm kind of hungry, but the idea of eating seems like so much work right now. I need some probiotics.

Tricia- That spicy stew sounds so good. I love anything thai style!! I might get those TapOut Workouts. I saw the ads but I wasn't sure if I would like them, but if you do, I probably will to.

Jane- Great job on your workouts!!

Alisha

Good Afternoon,

Here is my workout for tonight. Upper body weights - sets 3 or 4 and reps range from 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14 depending on the exercise.
Dumbbell Row
Pullovers on bench
Wide Grip Pull ups
Bench Press
Chest Flys
Arnold Dumbbell Press
Bent over reverse dumbbell flys
Side lateral raises w/band
Barbell Curls
Hammer Curls across body aka pinwheel curls
Two-arm Seated Dumbbell Ext
Band tricep kickbacks

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better and that your trip to the dentist goes well.

Tricia ~ We are still haven't turned on the heat and so far as good for this week. It hasn't really dipped below the 40's yet at night.

I'm glad you are enjoy the TapouT workouts. I saw Asylum workouts on TV and they look interesting. I would get them more for the using the exercises in my workouts than actually doing the workouts.

I hurt my leg/hip on the foot rest of a lazy boy chair. It came up unexpectedly. I kept it warm on a hot pad, took 2 ibuprofen, and a mediation. I'm not quite healed yet. I will be doing some yoga later today.

I tried an ayurvedic style drink for digestion/ weight loss this morning. 1/4 tsp of pepper, 4 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp. of honey, and 8 ounces of warm water. It tastes better than it sounds, like spicy hot lemonade. I don't know that I feel any thinner.:p

Jane- Good job on your workout! The trip to the dentist was really good. My teeth are in good shape.

Tricia- We still have the air conditioning on some of the time. It was in the 80s yesterday.

I am going for a run in the dark after work. It is sunny and in the 60's.

My arms are so sore from that workout last night. I felt fine until about 30 minutes ago and now I can barely lift my arms.

Alisha ~ I'm glad your teeth are good! I hope your hip feels better. Yoga should help.

Hi Tricia!

Evening ladies!

Computer hasn't been right. Stephen gave up, transferred everything and switched us to the - yes, Windows computer - GASP! Yes, I'm having to work on Windows again!

Alisha - Sorry you haven't felt well. That drink sounds good to me actually! The stew was delicious! I have the TapouT workouts on digital. Do you think you could copy them? I'll send you mine if you want to try. Hope I don't get in trouble for saying that here!

Jane - Great workout combo! We have snow tonight! That nor'easter is hitting us through the night, but it will turn to rain by midnight and hopefully be gone by morning.

My steering in my car is bad again and this time it's staying that way. I called my mechanic for an estimate on Monday and he hasn't called me back. I think if he hasn't called me by tomorrow, I'm just going to call Mini.

I did Sprawl & Brawl tonight and it was fun! A fast 47 minute workout with lots of planks and exploding pushups, which I don't explode on yet.

Well, Stephen just got home. They canceled classes at UConn for the night. It took him 2 hours to get home! Not too bad as it usually takes 1.5. Going to go get some dinner, then hook up my memory card for my camera to my iPad and finally download the first few practice shots I took now that my adapter is in!

See you ladies tomorrow!

Alisha, I hope you feel better!

Hi Chicklets,

I am taking today and tomorrow as rest days as I have a 15K race on Saturday morning. I am looking forward to this race. I ran it only once before in 2008 and at the time it was they longest race I had ever participated in. I was so nervous. I remember my shins hurting me up until the 4 mile mark. I was actually thinking of quitting the race but then just kept going and the pain went away. I'm proud of my sister because she swore that she would never do this race again but she is doing it on Saturday. Last time she ran out of gas and although she didn't finish last, she did have the police car following her at the finish.

Alisha ~ I hope you are feeling better today.

Tricia ~How much snow did you get? My lives in New Jersey and she posted a picture of her backyard and the snow. It looked beautiful but I don't miss it. I think she is still without power from Sandy.

Sorry about your car. I hope you get it fixed soon because it sounds like it can be dangerous. Stay safe!

I am taking a yoga day. I started the day with my hot lemon drink. Then I baked home made banana walnut cranberry bread. I make it with coconut oil instead of butter and it is so filling you only need to eat a tiny little piece. I have got to clean out the fridge. I don't even know what veggies I have in there. I know I have homemade broth. I might make soup for dinner.

Tricia- Do you know a good recipe for a green smoothie that gives a person lots of energy? I'm feeling a little run down after that round of antibiotics. Tapout on digital sounds handy. Not the windows!!!! Good job on your workouts!

Jane- the worst doms I ever had was from walking down and then up a hill that I didn't realize was so steep. I hurt for 10 days. I hope your arms are better today.

Alisha

Rest day number 2 for me. Tomorrow is the 15K!

Alisha ~ my arms are better today but I do feel some tightness in my forearms.

Your banana walnut cranberry bread sounds wonderful!

Hi Tricia!

Evening ladies!

Alisha - That bread sounds so yummy! Too bad I've given up bread!
I had a wonderful smoothie today that I didn't think sounded great - 5 collard leaves, 2 medium apples, 1 medium banana, 1 date and 1/2 cup water. sweetener of your choice. I should not have added sweetener! It would have been sweet enough and the added agave made it too sweet, but it was delicious and you really don't taste the greens! It was very filling and held me until lunchtime. What I do for energy is add 1 tsp. of maca powder to my smoothies every time I have one. It's amazing how good I feel and it lasts. There's no up and down, really gets me through the whole day.

Jane - We only got about 2 inches and it was gone by mid-morning and the roads were clear by the time I left for work. It was coming down hard and was slushy and heavy. Guess that's why we lost power for an hour Wednesday night. Glad it came back on so soon! So many have not been that lucky!

Good luck to you and your sister in your 15k tomorrow! I know you'll both be great!

No workout tonight! Stephen is coming home early! He's been at school so late all week except Wednesday. Going to have pizza and wine. I'll double up on the workouts tomorrow to get back on schedule. Yoga will be #2. Not so bad.

Weather is warming up a bit and we'll be in the 60s on Sunday! Definitely going golfing! It'll be my last time until next spring. :(:(

So, have a wonderful Friday night! See you two tomorrow!

Hi gals!

Didn't do anything I had planned on doing this weekend! Just relaxed and enjoyed it! We found out our Mac Mini that was dying is still under warranty! Yay! We took it to the Genius Bar and they're going to check it out and replace the hard drive if that's the issue all for free!

Ordered a ANT+ adapter for my iPhone so I can use the Garmin Fit App and it will be just like my regular Garmin. It's $41, but surprise, surprise, we had a promotional credit of $13! Got it for $28! Way cheaper than the $110 to replace my Garmin. I'm doing well today!

Hope you two had a nice Sunday. The weather has been really mild this weekend. We have a couple of more days like this, then we dip back to the 40s again. Ah, well, can't last forever!

We bottled the Riesling yesterday and I ordered a Pinot Noir kit for my next wine project. Next up will be either a Chardonnay or Gertwertzriminer (or something like that)! I can say it, but not spell it! lol

See you tomorrow! Only 4 days of work this week, then I'm off until after Thanksgiving! Can't believe that's next week already!

Happy Monday!

I can't believe this weekend went by so fast. Saturday morning was my 15K race. I had a great time. This experience was so much better than in 2008. I was much more relaxed and confident. I ended up setting a new PR by over 6 minutes and took 1st place in my age group. My sister did better too and set a new PR although she did have cramping at the end of the race. She took 2nd place in our age group. We didn't stay for awards because my sister had an appointment at 1:30 so we had to hustle. I don't mind missing the awards because they give away hot sauce and stuff like that because it is the "Chili Run". I would rather have a trophy or a medal.

I got home took a shower and headed to mom's house to make cookies for my sister's bake sale. I didn't get home until almost 5 and then I was beat.

Yesterday I did 2 rounds of the following workout. My legs were sore but this helped a little bit in working out the stiffness.

200m run - 25 SDLHP -25 Thrusters
200m run - 25 Slams Balls - 25 Push ups
200m run - 25 Swings - 25 Crunches
200m run - 25 Jump Squats - 25 Walking Lunges (25 each leg)

Tonight will be a circuit workout. It's a little different. You do 30 seconds work/20 seconds rest for 5 minutes doing the same exercise. Then do the same thing using another exercise. Then rest. Then do it again with 2 other exercises. Rest and then again with 2 other exercises.

I haven't worked out all the exercises but it comes out to a 30 minute workout. I'm doing mostly cardio based exercises.

Tricia ~ Relaxing weekends are the best! It sounds like you are having fun with your wine making! It has warmed up here and will be in the 80's today.

Hi Alisha ~ Hope you had a great weekend!

Jane- Congrats on your PR!!! Way to go!!:D

Tricia- I love it when the Apple products are still under warranty. Be sure to thank Stephen for his service to our country. Today being vet's day.:)

My iPh. 5 arrived. I'm still getting used to it. Its my first iph. I don't even have an arm band or a workout bag for it yet.

I am finally starting to feel better. My hips are better, my bruises are healing nicely. I went for a walk at the strip mall today. I took my Mom's car for an alignment/rotation and instead of going to the Starbuck's, I walked around Stein Mart. I didn't buy anything, I just browsed. Today was the big Veteran's day parade.

I am finally starting to feel like making a rotation.:eek:I have lost some fitness/endurance in the near month that I have been off. I will do one of Kathy Smith's workouts tomorrow. They aren't as intense as Cathe.

My living arrangements are still in the air. My mom wants me here, my Dad wants me there. I have a big project to work on that I am feeling intimidated by, but I'm sure, like with all things, it seems worse than it actually is.

The weather is clear and cold. We are getting a lot of Alaska air. Its so funny, where I live you go from 82 degrees to 50 degrees in just two days. I think we skipped fall.

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Jane - WOO-HOO!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Nice race! You and your sister did awesome! Long day too! Once I'm done with a run, I'm done. Totally wipes me out. Guess all your running keeps you energized through the day, but that still was a long one for you!

Alisha - Glad you are feeling much better! Must be difficult to decide where to live and spend your time. Maybe wait until you find a job and go where the job is? I think that's the best, but it's just my humble opinion. I'm glad you have a project! Once you get started, it'll be fine and start to line up. I'm sure of it!

Thank you for thinking of Stephen! I will tell him!

Enjoy your new iPhone! Once you learn it, and it really is easy to learn, you'll love it!

Well, I've come up with a new potential hobby! lol Yes, another one! It's called Kumihomo - a Japanese braiding technique to make all kinds of cords, pulls, jewelry, etc. I ordered a beginner's kit to try it out first and see if I like it. It should be here just in time for my vacation which starts on Friday. I don't go back to work until the Monday after Thanksgiving! That's going to be nice!

I'll be putting the Mini in the shop on Saturday. Our weather was milder today, so other than first thing in the morning, my steering was normal. I don't know why, but it's related to the ambient temp. Hopefully Inskip will be able to figure it out.

Decided to take care of chores over a workout tonight. Stephen was up early and I should have just gotten up with him at 6. I would have been able to get it done and be on schedule for the week. Oh, well. I'm still doing more every month than the month before, so that's good! Ordered an ANT attachment for my iPhone so I can use the Garmin Fit App like my old Garmin. Yay! It'll be here tomorrow.

These were the last 2 purchases from my birthday money. Fun, fun!

Okay, going to go make me some dinner, relax, read tonight and hang out with the pets!

Have a great night you two!

Tricia- Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate your opinion. I'm leaning that way myself. I think that new hobby sounds awesome. Maybe I will give it a go too.
Its not uncommon for a car to respond to temperature. It sounds like you might need lubricant. As a car warms up the metals loosen up from the heat. Just like trying to open a jar with a metal lid by running it under warm water, the car loosens up. Its like a runner stretching after the workout, not before.;) Check on the cartalk website, they will know better than I do what to say to the mechanic.

Jane- Hi!!

I am probably going to go for a walk today. I have finally put away all my clothing. I may even do a stretch max.

Alisha

Alisha - CARTALK! Holy moly! I can't believe I didn't think about that! I really miss them on NPR! That would have made a good call-in question! I hadn't thought about lubricant. Hopefully, that will be it and Inskip won't charge me a lot! It drove fine all day today until the drive home. Temps were above 50 until tonight, so it tightened up again. 2 more days, then I'm off and I can get it in the shop.

Hope you got a lovely walk in!

Oh, I don't know if you know Amber, but she's a Cathlete and a photographer. She just set up this page. You should check it out!

Amber Kresge - Fine Art

This is a slack week for me so far, but I will get back in the groove! Promise!

Hi Jane! Hope your day has been uneventful at work and you've had a great one!

I took a rest day.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm sorry about the living situation that you are in. That must be hard. Just keep on going, stay positive and the answer will become clearer as time goes on.

Tricia ~ Your new hobby sounds like fun. I used to do all the crafty stuff years ago but now I don't have the time.

I'm doing 'Meditation for Beginners' which includes 15 min. of yoga and 20 min. of a guided meditation. I'm set up and ready to go. I started the morning with my lemon/pepper/honey drink. Its surprisingly satisfying.

I have to get my mom's wheels fixed and her smog done. I will go to the co-op this afternoon. Did you notice? Co-op without the hyphen is coop, think chickens. :p I'm going to the coop to get some chicken eggs?

Jane- Thanks for the sympathy. I appreciate it. Enjoy your rest day.

Tricia- I need to get in the groove too. Its been so long. I feel like a beginner again. I will check out Amber's website.
