Jogglers May 2014

RapidBreath

Cathlete
Welcome to May! I was able to get 30 minutes of step in today. It was in the low 90s here.

Trisha how is Milo?

Jane how is the weather out there? Is it hot yet?

Happy Friday!

I missed my run on Wednesday because of the rain so I ran 3 miles last night. Today is a rest day as I am doing a 10K race on Saturday across the border in Alabama. My first race in Alabama.

Alisha ~ We still have some lingering showers today about 50% and the high is 63 which is crazy this time of year. At least I am saving on my utility bill. The sun will be out tomorrow and it will be sunny and in the 80's all next week. Hopefully my lawn will dry out by next weekend and I can get it mowed. We have not seen the 90's yet this year.

How was the hike?

Hi Tricia ~ Thinking of Milo and hoping all is well.

Jane enjoy your 10K race this weekend! That sounds like fun:D

Tricia how is Milo?

I did 25 minutes of hip-hop dancing with Billy blanks Junior. I will work out again tomorrow.

Hi ladies!

Sorry I missed checking in the first few days of May! It's finally warming up here a little! Yay!

Alisha - Wow! 90s? Nice! Glad you are getting some workouts in!

Milo is doing well! He had to have some blood work done because the vet thought he might have kidney damage due to him not gaining any weight after the surgery, but that all came back normal. He's just a little anemic. So, we are feeding him like a little piggie 3x a day! He actually perked up when Stephen went running yesterday, but he can't go yet. He's still on the mend and I want him to gain weight and get stronger first.

Jane - How'd your 10K go? Did you survive being in Alabama?

I am only 4 workouts away from finishing STS! Can't believe it! I also can't believe that there are only 6 weeks left to the Star Trek Convention! Yikes! It's been difficult getting my weight down even eating really clean and pristine. I finally broke 140 and it took 3 weeks! I'm barely under, but I'll take it (139.8). Man, if I get where I want to be weight-wise and muscle-wise, I SWEAR I am NEVER letting myself go again! It's been a brutal, brutal journey!

I'm going to re-do STS again starting immediately after this round, but doing the first week of each Mesocycle, then the next, etc. to keep things changing up. Hoping that'll increase my muscle mass. I have been discharged from PT! Yay! Now, I can actually do all of the shoulder work in STS this time! I'm seeing improvements in how my clothes fit and I've gotten back into some clothes I haven't been able to wear in ages!

Back to work tomorrow! The weekend has been pretty, but very windy which has kept the temperature a bit chilly even though we're in the upper 60s.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

Tricia congrats on finishing STS!

Joan how was the race?

I got some sort of G.I. Yuck at the wedding on Saturday night and I was sick yesterday. I'm feeling better now, but I am letting myself rest for today. I will exercise tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Saturday's 10K was interesting. It was a 5K/10K and there were definitely more people in the 5K. Before the race we heard people talking about getting lost on the course. When we were at the starting line they mentioned that and outlined the course details which meant nothing to us because we didn't live there. My sister was nervous about getting lost so I ran with her (I am a bit faster) and our friend was ahead of us. After the 3 mile mark, my sister and I were out by ourselves with my friend about 2-3 minutes ahead of us. There was no support on the course outside of a couple of cops. I have run smaller races before but this course had the least amount of race volunteers on the course than I have ever seen. It felt like we were on a training run. We finally ended up finishing. My sister did over 2 minutes better than last week. I, of course was 2 minutes slower. We actually placed in our age group despite coming in 3rd and 2nd to last place. There was actually a girl 6 minutes behind us who also placed in her age group but did not stay for the awards ceremony.

Sunday was a 6 mile run. Today will be a weight workout.

The weather has finally cleared and it promises to be a sunny week with no chance of rain until next week. Temperatures will be in the 80's so I'm praying that our lawn will dry up by the weekend so we can get it mowed.

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better soon.

Tricia ~ Congrats on completing STS. I'm so happy to hear Milo is doing better. YIPPEE!!! I'm glad it's beginning to warm up by you.

Jane is it dry enough to mow the lawn yet?

Tricia how is Milo?

It is sprinkling outside and going to be a cool day. I think I will do a belly dance workout. I plan to go to the movies today. I want to see divergent.

Yesterday was a rest day. Tonight will be a 4 mile run.

Alisha ~ The lawn is drying out and I think we'll be able to get it mowed by Friday or Saturday. The standing water gone and it's just a tad bit soft. No rain is expected until Saturday and it's only a 30% chance.

How was the movie?

Hi Tricia.

Jane did you enjoy your run?

Tricia hi:)

I didn't get around to working out yesterday. And I didn't go to the movies. My dad hurt his back. I plan to do Kathy Smith flex appeal today. It's a belly dance DVD.

Tonight I am doing a cardio/strength workout. It's sunny and breezy outside.

Alisha ~ The run did not go well last night. I think the heat was bothering me. i really struggled the last 1/2 of the run. I am not acclimated to the heat yet.

I hope you feel better. My mom went to PT today as well and she is very sore. They worked her legs out really hard.

Hi Tricia!

My cousins came over yesterday. They live about four hours to the south in San Luis Obispo. It was great to see them. We didn't have time for exercising because we were visiting.

I think I might go for a hike today. Today will only be 72°F. We expect things to get hot this week, we anticipate 100° by Wednesday.

Jane I always find it hard to adapt to the hotter weather.

Hike schmike

I did not end up going for a hike. Because my friends were moving. So went over there and I move boxes all day long. I'm exhausted, I'm sore, I'm tired. I may have made a mistake and put a box on top of a different box that had a doll in it which apparently belongs to my friends grandma. I hope the doll which is porcelain is okay. Crossing my fingers.

More moving

I went over to see my friends today, I help them move. I am so sore, I feel like I've had a whole body workout. I have doms my calves my thighs and my arms.

I'm sorry I missed so many days.

Friday I did a running and leg workout. Saturday was a rest day. Sunday I ran 7 miles and then went to mom's and made her breakfast, worked in her yard and served her a tie dye cake that we made on Saturday.

Yesterday was an upper body workout and tonight is a rest day.

Alisha ~ You've been doing lots of great workouts. Now I know who to call if I need to move. ;) I think taking it easy is the right thing to do.

Hi Tricia!

I, too, need to apologize for not being around.

Hi ladies!

Alisha - Hope all is well and you are staying healthy! Glad you're getting workouts in again!

Jane - I would hate a race where there was no support as I have a horrible sense of direction!

Milo is doing well. He's back to normal and putting some weight back on. My mom is not doing well. :( My brother saw her over Mother's Day weekend and said her mental capacity is really deteriorating. Going to try to get down there next month to see her. I called her Sunday and she seemed really focused and on. I guess some days are good and some days are bad.

Restarted STS today. Going to do Week 1 of each Mesocycle, then week 2, etc. this time around and keep running. Weight loss is brutal. Made it to just under 140 - 138.6, then came back up to 141 and not really getting anywhere on that front any more. Just trying to stay focused on building muscle and CV endurance again.

Stephen leaves for the R conference in Chicago on Thursday morning. I'll have the weekend to myself. I'm actually looking forward to it!

I also ordered tickets to a Sarah Brightman concert in Providence this August. I'm so excited! Can't wait to see her! In case you don't know who she is, she was Christine in Phantom of the Opera - the original run.

6 weeks to the Star Trek convention and counting! I'm not going to be anywhere near my goal!

Oh, well. Still plugging along . . .

Have a great night! I'll make more of an effort to get here more often!

Happy Wednesday!

I am suppose to go running tonight but there is an 80% chance of rain so we'll see. If I don't go running, I will do something inside and hopefully go running tomorrow but it's suppose to rain tomorrow too.

Tricia ~ I'm glad Milo is doing better. So sorry to hear about your mom. I'm sending her and you lots of positive vibes and healing energy.

Keep on plugging away on your workouts and don't focus on the scale. We are over 50 and it's hard to lose. I weigh myself at mom's house when I feel it's a good day and I keep track of it (at her house) so I don't look at it. From July 2013 to April 2014 I supposedly put on 9 pounds but I am wearing the same clothes and none of my clothes fit any different. I'm hoping the 9 pounds is from muscle. I think it is because I feel a bit leaner and I'm eating a bit better than I did then.

I have heard of Sarah Brightman. I'm glad you will be able to see her in concert.

Hi Alisha ~ I hope you are getting some rest.

Jane - Hope you were able to run! It's supposed to start raining here on Friday and then rain for the next 2 weeks! We shall see what really happens.

I am focusing on the workouts, but I have clothes that I really need to get back into! I'm slowly getting into some of them again!

Thanks for the good vibes and healing energy!

Hi Alisha!

Ran a full 2.44 miles before a short walk break today. Only took 2 walk breaks of less than .5 miles total. I've got to get past the 2.5 mile mark! Maybe Friday . . .

I ran 4 miles yesterday. It did not rain until later in the evening and now it's all gone except for some clouds and wind.

Here is tonight's workout:

I am really loving the kettlebell carries. I'm seeing really nice definition in my shoulders lately.

Tricia ~ Keep up the good work! Don't get discouraged. Keep your eye on your goals. You are doing great with your running too. I'm glad you can get out and run.

Hi Alisha ~ Hope your day is going well.
