Jogglers March 2012

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Stop being lazy! Don't be me! lol

Jane - Good luck and have fun at your race in Florida! Shouldn't be a hilly one! Ha!

I ran my day 3 of my C25K plan tonight. It was supposed to be last night, but I forgot my shoes! Doh! Too much debris on the roads here to go barefoot for real! I'm frustrated with my app though. It keeps bumping back to Week 1, Day 1 and that is going to be a pain starting tomorrow! I'll be in week 2 and this app doesn't seem to allow you to jump ahead! Stupid app! Sigh. I can't seem to find another one either. Don't know what I'm going to do. Oh, well, I'll figure something out!

Maybe I'll just run until I have a heart attack or pass out and then get up and walk and do my intervals that way! I'm just kidding. Still mad a bit about this app problem. It's got great reviews on iTunes and no one else seems to be having this problem. Guess it's just me.

Nothing else exciting going on, just the usual - work. Have a great night you two!

I went for a run yesterday and did some yoga. This morning I did some yoga, I want to do my belly dance tape tonight, tomorrow will be Circuit Blast.

Jane-I hope they let you go from that silly meeting. Do you taper before your races?

Tricia- Did you get a workout today?

Alisha

Its my birthday!!!

I forgot to do my yoga last night. I did Circuit Blast this morning. I love that one, its so much fun! What a blast!!! I will definitely do some yoga tonight before bed. I'm thinking that I might do Step Moves tomorrow. If it doesn't rain I will go for a jog, but its looking very wet.

Catch ya later!!

Alisha:D

I am going for a 3-4 mile run this evening. It's beautiful outside...sunny and in the 80's. Yay!!

Alisha - Happy Birthday. Please have a big piece of cake for me (or whatever you are celebrating with).

I was released from the meeting after a hour. Thank goodness. It is soooo boring. Who says that girls talk too much?

I don't taper for 1/2 marathons. I'm running tonight but this is my last workout before the 1/2. I could probably workout one more day but I probably won't. It's going to be a hot one though. Temperatures will be in the mid 60's at race time. My sister and I are taking salt tablets because we (especially my sister) tend to cramp at the end of the race.

Tricia ~ Good job on your run. I don't know all the aspects of the C25K program but can't you just get out run??

Belated Happy Birthday Alisha! Sorry I missed it yesterday! No runs for me since . . . um, Tuesday! Going tonight.

Gotta go! Just home for lunch!

See you two tonight!

Good Afternoon!

Alisha - Hope you had a fantastic birthday! Please tell us all about it.

Tricia - Have a great run tonight!

I am suppose to be resting tonight but I will probably take a long walk after work and might even do some running in between. I know I am suppose to be resting but it feels weird to take 3 days off from working out. I can't remember the last time I took 3 days off from working out.

Have a great afternoon!

My birthday was great! I went to see Journey 2 Mystery Island with my Mom on Tuesday, we stopped at PinkBerry for yogurts afterwards. On Wednesday I went to lunch with my Dad and brother at Olive Garden. I was so good! I got the minestrone soup, the portabella mushroom ravioli, and the tiniest chocolate mousse. In total it came to less than 800 calories!

I'm thinking about doing my belly dance tape or Tracy's Omni instead of the step workout. It depends on how I feel later, my nose was all stuffed up this morning. Its hard for me to do step with a stuffed up runny nose.

We are getting a new Tivo system from DirecTV today. Thats a super great birthday present.

Jane- Thanks for the birthday salutation! I've heard good things about salt tablets. Its not easy to get enough salt sometimes it just doesn't appeal to me. Do you need to eat a snack or gel in a half or not at all?

Tricia-I hope you enjoy your run!

I'm resting tonight and going over to mom's house for dinner. We leave tomorrow for points south. I mostly did a hilly 2-3 mile walk last night. It was warm but not humid yet so not too bad.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you had a great birthday and lots of mini-celebrations. That is always fun!

My sister was looking into her cramping issues after long runs and we think the lack of salt might be the issue. We both sweat a lot and don't eat lots of salt. Although I have salt in the house for baking, I don't own a salt shaker and I don't salt any of my food so I'm sure we are lacking when we workout. I always have salt crystals on my face especially after long runs. My sister took 2 or 3 salt pills last weekend on our long run and she said she felt great and was able to run a hill at mile 11.

I'll have 2 gels and some sports beans with me when I run the 1/2. I'm planning on a somewhat big breakfast that will be mainly carbs - whole wheat bagel, bananas, a Clif Bar and pretzels. I also made some killer whole wheat chocolate chips cookies last weekend so I'm bringing some of those with me. They have kosher salt in them too!

Hi Tricia!

I will be back on Sunday so you guys have a great Friday and Saturday.

Alisha- glad you had a wonderful birthday! Love having DVR! I couldn't function without it! Then again, I'd probably get a lot more reading done! lol

Jane - Glad you just took a walk! You know better than to push before a race! Yes, some people lose more salt when they run than others. Hope you and your sister have a great race this weekend! Have a safe drive, too!

Had a great, but tough run last night. No run tonight though. It was rainy and cold and I was geared up for it, but we got off early and didn't feel like it, so came home.

Took Peanut and Milo in for their blood work today. yikes! It cost almost $400!!! Peanut has to go to the neurologist on Wednesday. She has completely lost her eyesight now in both eyes and my vet is worried that it is something in her brain.

Trying not to worry until after the appt.

Will keep you filled in.

Have a great night!

I've been sick all weekend. Hoping I have the energy to run this week. It's supposed to be absolutely gorgeous this week!

Hope you two had a lovely weekend!

Happy Monday!

I had a great run at my half with weekend and ended up with a new PR!!! YAY!! It was a beautiful run through one of the nation's most beautiful beaches at Fort Desoto Park in Pinellas County, FL. The course was mainly flat with just a couple of small rises (not hills or even inclines) and run on smooth asphalt. There were some very beautiful water views especially at the turnaround near mile 8...simply stunning!! I got my PR in part to Bob a guy that I met at the start line, met him again at mile 4 and caught up to him again at mile 9. We ran together after that to the finish. The medal and t-shirt were great. The only downside was the noisy bar across the street from the hotel that played very loud music so I didn't get much sleep.

I'm not sure if the salt helped me or not. I'm usually on the verge of cramping near the end of the rest and I wasn't this time although while walking to find my sister, my shin and calf really started to hurt. My sister had twinges of a cramp so she walked the last 3 miles. I'm thinking she is either drinking too much in races. We don't drink nearly enough when we run and she never cramps...so I think we are going to try to figure out our drinking during our long training runs and try to mimic that in races.

I want to take a rest day today but our friend Nancy might come by tonight to workout so I may do some lifting with her tonight although it's not going to be anything crazy.

Tricia - Hope you feel better soon. I'm praying for Peanut..poor little guy. Take care of yourself.

Hi Alisha.

Hi Jane good job to your race & new PR. I'm going to run my 2nd half Marathon this saturday & hoping to beat my time. I never cramp on my long runs but when I ran my first half marathon I had bad cramping at the end.
What did you eat before the race? I heard coconut water is good for cramping.

Congrats Jane!

Finding that happy place of enough fluid and not too much takes time and patience. Once you get it, I would get camel paks so it will be easier to track.

All the blood work came back on the pups. Milo needs a bit more Phenobarbital to get him at the right level. He's at 11 and needs to be between 15 & 45. He had a very mild seizure last night, but it was the first one since starting the med.

Peanut is at a perfect thyroid level now and her tick tiger was negative, so whatever this is causing her blindness, it's neurological. : (.
We see her on Wednesday.

I'll be glad when I'm feeling better. Stayed home from work today. Have a feeling I'll be off of workouts the rest of the week.

Hi Alisha!

Yesterday was Tracy's Omni. Today will be a joggle in the park after work. Tomorrow will be Kettlebells with JM. I bought a new pink 5 lb bell yesterday at Sports authority and some bands and a firewalker like thingy for 5 dollars. In total I spent about 50 bucks. I thought that was pretty good.

I might have a new weight loss meetup. The first meeting is planned for this evening but only myself and the organizer are planned to meet. So, that might not happen, I'm not sure yet.

Tricia- I'm so sorry about Peanut. I hope that Peanut is feeling well today. Good job on your workouts. I hope that you are feeling well today too.

Jane- Way to go on your PR!!!! Thats awesome:eek:

Alisha

Hi Alisha - glad your workouts are going well!

We'll be headed to the neuro in a bit.

I have not slept hardly for the last 3 days. I'm totally exhausted. between the cough, the now really horrible sore throat, Stephen's snoring and the pups' nightly outing, I could just cry! Can't wait until this is all cleared up so I can sleep finally.

On a positive note, Stephen got us tickets to see Beal Fleck and he Flecktones at UConn on Saturday! Very excited! $14 for both tickets too!

Hi Jane!

Hi Everyone,

Here was last night's workout. It was so beautiful...warm and breezy.

5 Rounds of:

5 Double KB press
10 Double KB clean and press
15 Double KB Rows
20 1- arm kb sit ups 10R/10L
25 H2H Swings

Tonight will be a 3-4 mile run.

Hi Tricia ~ I am thinking of you and sending healing vibes to Peanut and you and Stephen. Please take care of yourself. I'm glad you have something to look forward to on Saturday night.

Alisha ~ Your workouts for the week sound great! I hope your weight loss meeting when well, if you went to it.

Have a great day!

Hi,

Thank you!

I never cramp on long training runs, just on my 1/2's although I think the salt pills helped me because I did not cramp until afterwards. In my other 3-1/2 marathons I cramped at the end although not badly. My sister is still trying to figure out the problem though.

Before the race I ate 2 mini whole wheat bagels, a banana, 2 whole-wheat chocolate chip cookies and a Clif bar. When I am at home I usually have eggs and/or egg whites and whole wheat toast.

I will try coconut water and see if that helps. Thanks!

Good luck on your 1/2 marathon this weekend! Hope you have a great time and set a new PR.

run day!

I did JM's Shred it with Weights yesterday. Its a kettlebell workout. I really enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun. It was surprisingly rigorous. I will be going for a 60 min. run/walk this afternoon.

Jane- I did attend that weight loss meeting but it was one of those darn 'herbalife' pitch sessions. Boo hiss. If you don't get cramps at home, but do at races, I wonder if its because you are eating more before the race? I wouldn't recommend or suggest that you not eat (of course.) but if the extra food isn't helping, I wonder what the issue is:confused:.

Tricia- You might want Stephen to get checked out for sleep apnea. My Dad has that and its easily treated by a c-pap. The difference for my Dad has been like night and day. Without it he is a different person (not nearly as nice.) Not that I'm saying Stephen is not perfectly nice, but he might feel better. I hope that Peanut is ok. Enjoy your concert!

Alisha

Jane - great workout! Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Alisha - ugh, Herbalife! I hate that they can shroud it in something people care about and not have to say who they are right up front.

Great workout! I've never done any of Jillian's workouts other than 39 Day Shred.

Well, Peanut has SARD. Just a sudden blindness that doesn't have a cause unless it's autoimmune triggered by cancer. The did all sorts of tests all day yesterday and no cancer, but she'll never get her vision back. We're trying a round of steroids anyway just in case but the neuro and ophthalmologist don't expect any change. At least it's much less likely that it's in the brain because her retinas have no electrical response at all.

Anyone know of a good seeing eye cat? lol

Hoping I'm finally well enought to get back to working out next week. Still cruddy.

Have a great day!
