Jogglers July 2014

My copy of Jillian Michaels body revolution arrived yesterday. I plan to start that tomorrow. I went to Walmart and bought some more shorts and workout clothes. It be

Yesterday, we went to David's bridal over and Roseville to see my cousin Julie for her wedding dress fitting. It's a beautiful dress just covered in fine beading and lace.

Jane how was your 5K race this morning?

Tricia that dry needing acupuncture sounds sort of like what I get when I go for my acupressure with my chiropractor. And no, I wouldn't recommend trying to work out after that. He tells me I'm supposed to rest and let my body reacquaint itself with itself. I know that sounds funny but I think it must be true. He says that the two sides of my body are not really talking to each other very well right now. I wonder what their problem could be?lols:p

Jane - I hate that alternative treatments that are useful and that work are not covered by insurance! Takes a lot of beneficial services out of the mix.

How was your race?

Alisha - Nice that you picked up some new workout clothes! Enjoy your new workout! I could have played golf because it's not a trigger, but I wanted to see clearly what it did.

It was very helpful! The first 2 hours were really painful - crampy and sore, but it eased off a lot after that. I had a great night and a fabulous Friday with my pain level down below 5 for the first time! I am getting some pain and achiness still, but I think it takes a couple of treatments. Plus, they can't hit the really bad spot under my shoulder blade. I am impressed with the results though! I've been able to lay off the Ibuprofen a lot over the weekend.

I bought a foam roller this weekend, but it wasn't the one I really wanted. The one I wanted was a deep tissue one, but Dick's wanted $70! I found one on Amazon with a massage stick for $33! The one I bought was $42. I'll be taking that one back. My PT has been telling me I need to practically live on one! I'm finally doing it.

Trying to decide whether I want to play golf tomorrow or come home and workout. I haven't played for a week! *gasp*

Have a great night!

My race went well. It was a small town but the packet pickup was in a beautiful Methodist Church. It was humid as heck and it started raining just after the 1 mile mark. There was a funky course marking that was confusing but we figured it out. My sister was right on my tail. Sometime after that I was running and I noticed that a little girl was running next to me and she was crying so I stopped to see what the problem was. Apparently she couldn't see because she wore glasses and it was raining so I stopped and walked with her for a bit. Finally the rain stopped and she took off. It was a poor showing time-wise due to the course confusion and the little girl but I managed to take 2nd place in my age group. Gotta lot the small town races.

Yesterday was an 8 mile run. Today will be a total body weight workout.

Tricia ~ My mom goes to PT and only gets a $20 or $30 reduction per session. It sucks because it is really helping her. She refused to take the pills that they gave her for her neuropathy.

I am glad your treatment was successful in any case. I have a foam roller but my boss brought his in and it has nubs on it (mine is smooth). I tried it and I really liked it. I am going to ask for it for my birthday. It is $49 on Amazon. Hope you get to golf tonight.

Alisha ~ New workout clothes are always fun! What workout did you do today?

I am still sore from Monday's work out.

Jane congrats on second place. It sounds like you would've made first place if you have not stopped to help that girl. But then, what person would you be?

Tricia how are you feeling? How is the foam rolling?

I still sore from Monday's workout too! Tuesday was a rest day. Yesterday was a 3.5 mile run. At least there was a breeze but it was hot.

Tonight will be a mixture of cardio and strength. Some kettlebells and other stuff. I'm still working on it.

Alisha ~ I wouldn't have made 1st place but I would have regretted not stopping in any case. I was a bit mad about my time but when I thought about the time I took with the little girl and the course mix up then my time would have been right in line with where I should be.

Tricia ~ Hope you are doing well!

The air-conditioning has been fixed. So, I will be able to exercise tomorrow. Hopefully, I have the restraint not to hurt myself so bad I can't exercise for another week again. That seems to be a pattern with me. I forget that it's been a while and I exercise like they used to. I can't really feel it at the time. I feel it later. Ouchie!:p

Hi ladies!

Jane - Congrats on the 2nd place win! So glad you stopped for that little girl. That's first place my book! It stinks that PT can be so helpful and still cost you so much even with insurance! I hit my out of pocket max. That's the only reason I'm not paying anything any more.

I love my nubby foam roller! Been using it every night. I had a terrible day with pain on Tuesday, manageable on Wednesday and Thursday. Today was great, but I didn't have to type because we had a lot of closings. I was finished with real estate by 4 and went to do some typing and within just a few minutes, I was hurting again. My PT is requesting an MRI or something from my doc. I hope she has better luck getting in touch with her than I've had! Can't remember if I told you or not, but I call and get an automated system. They call me back at home and I have to call again, because they won't use the number I leave in the voicemail. Sigh.

Alisha - I do the same thing you do! Kill myself in my workout after being off for a while! Hope you are more careful this time! Glad you got some a/c going!

I have a short game golf clinic in the morning tomorrow, then we're playing at Bungay Brook in the afternoon.

Glad it's the weekend!

I did a Netflix DVD from Prevention magazine. It was a combination of cardio and strength. But, I will say it was too easy. Meh.

Tricia are you suffering from a repetitive use injury from typing? Can you switch to Dragon? It's the same software as Siri uses for dictation.

Hi Everyone!

I took Friday as a rest day. Saturday I ran 8 miles. We moved it up a day because my sister left for a work trip today.

This morning I did the following workout:
1/2 mile run
50 crunches
1/2 mile run
50 med ball elephants
1/2 mile run
50 push ups
1/2 mile run
50 squats

Tricia ~ I am looking forward to my nubby foam roller. I asked for it for my birthday. My IT band has been bothering me but I have been rolling every day and it is better.

I hope you get the MRI. It horrible that you have to suffer. I hope it gets approved soon. Did you get your golf game in yesterday? I am doing a race on the 8th that is run on a fairway of a golf course. Then after we get done with the race we can putt for money. Not sure how much money but I'm good at putting.

Alisha ~ I'm glad that workout allowed you to get back into exercising slowly. Keep building and you'll be fine. Glad you got your a/c fixed.

Alisha - Remember, starting easy is a good thing! Get yourself prepped for tougher workouts so you get less DOMs!

Jane - Sounds like a fun race!

I did get my golf game in! I had a clinic in the morning. We worked on the chip and run from 25 yards to the gree. That'll come in really handy! We played at Bungay Brook in Bellingham, MA. I scored a 51. That's pretty good! Most of the holes were long par 4s.

Did you win anything in the putting competition?

I've had a good 3 days with my muscle spasms. Only had to take a little Ibuprofen. Even at home today, while I was on the computer working, my back started to hurt. It's how I sit, because right now I'm sitting back on the couch and feeling fine. The laptop is, well, on my lap. I wonder if I got a chair with no arms so I could sit all the way back at work and put the keyboard in my lap if I'd be okay.

If it is an overuse injury, maybe I can get a standing desk through the ADA. My friend in DC got one that way because of her back issues. Going to need that MRI though, I think, and a letter from my doc. Have to wait and see though. I have a dry needling appointment tomorrow after work at the PT! Yay! That helped so much!

Have a great night you two!

Not exercising until the smoke from the Ridge Fire has passed and it is only 35% contained so it may be a couple of days. Woke up at 1 am thinking the house was on fire because of the smoke in my house. Luckily, it's not my house. Got up early to drive away from the smoke and it was really at my house, just 35 miles away and no smoke. I hate smoke:mad:

Tricia so glad that you were feeling better.

Jane well done on your workout!

Had what I thought was an asthma attack last night, went to the dr today, she gave me an inhaler just in case but she thought it as allergy to the smoke. My dada said I could have what he has, which is an irritated Vegas nerve, because it can feel the same. Hmm, worth considering, being his kid.

Hello!

Here is last night's workout. We had a heat advisory but it wasn't too bad. We were under the carport and had a fan. I really loved this workout. I have a feeling I will be "feeling" it soon. I am taking a rest day today.

Total Body - One Dumbbell Workout - Done as Circuit Style – 4 Rounds
Presses L/R – 8 reps
Single Leg Deadlifts – L/R – 10 reps
Back Lunges – L/R - 10 reps
One-Arm Row – L/R – 8 reps
One-Arm Sit up L/R - 8 reps
Overhead to Ground L/R – 10 reps

Alisha ~ I heard about the fires on NPR yesterday morning and immediately thought of you. I remember having fires around here in 2007. The smoke smell is awful. I hope you feel better soon!

Tricia ~ I haven't done that race yet. It is on August 8. I will let you know how it turns out. I'm glad you had fun golfing. I'm praying that you will be able to get an MRI soon.

I am going for a 3.5 - 4 mile run tonight. It's hot but not as bad as it has been and there is a breeze!

Sigh. I had a whole post written and it *poof!* disappeared. Oh, well, here I go again!

Alisha - Sorry about all the issues from the smoke! Been watching that on the news. Hope they get containment soon and the smoke clears up!

Jane - Your race is on Stephen's birthday! How was your run?

Still dealing with the whole left side/shoulder/muscle spasms issue. Sigh. It's been 9 weeks of pain, but I feel like it's been going on longer! This is really getting old. Still waiting to hear about an MRI and my PT sessions have run out. Waiting for a new insurance authorization for more treatments. They scheduled me for this coming week in anticipation of approval. Seems a little better in that I don't feel pain all over all the time. It's more localized, but in a few different areas and my arm still aches and throbs. I know that sounds odd because the pain level hasn't reduced a whole lot - some, but, it changes from day to day. I never have completely pain-free days.

Had my 2nd dry needling treatment and she was more aggressive this time. Very sore after this one!

Going to try to get back into working out whether I have bad pain days or not. I need to do something! I played golf on Tuesday, but not Thursday because of my treatment. Was supposed to have short game clinic today, but it got canceled because we were supposed to have rain and thunderstorms. That hasn't developed yet. Sigh. I'm sad. Need more golf. :(

Have a great weekend!

It's been that time of the month for the last couple of days. So I haven't been exercising. Just taking it easy.

I did by myself some new DVDs. All from the 10 minute solution series. I bought ultimate boot camp, yoga for beginners, traffic results fat burner, and fat blasting Latin dance mix.

Tricia smoke has cleared from the fires. Now, it's just super hot. It was 104°F today. I am so sorry about your arm, I hope it feels better soon.

Jane how was your run?

Alihsa - Yikes! That's hot!

Jane - Hope you're having a great weekend!

I have done nothing. Golf clinic was canceled yesterday because of storms in the area. I was sad. Signed up for a tournament though! Very excited! They are really fun!

Ordered some all organic shampoo and conditioner from Ecco Bella. Tried it out today. My hair is way less frizzy and a lot smoother. I'm hoping it will also slow down the hair loss I've been experiencing!
