Jogglers July 2012

RapidBreath

Cathlete
Its that time. Its time to contemplate the second half of the year. Well, are you ready to make it great??

Alright, jogglers, on your mark, get set, GO!!!

I'm so glad we have a short/broken up week.

Saturday I swam 50 laps and then played in the pool. It felt good.

Sunday was a 8 mile run and then I worked in the yard for over an hour. It felt good to get out there and the heat wasn't too bad (it was early).

Today will be an upper body workout.

Alisha ~ I am ready to make the second half of the year even better than the 1st half.

Tricia ~ I hope all your veggies are coming up. I found another blossom on my lemon tree last night. I hope the rain we had last night did not damage it. Right now we only have one lemon. It is suppose to be ever-bearing so hopefully we'll get more.

I, too, am ready to make Part II a better half! I did Crossfire tonight. Ouch! I'm so out of shape I had to take lots of little breaks and I almost gave up near the end, but pushed myself to finish. Yoga yesterday to relieve my soreness from Saturday and I could feel that in my triceps today! Too many downward dogs I guess!

Hope you get more blooms on your lemon tree, Jane! Still no sign of my peppers, but everything else is doing great! I'll have to stake up all the squash, zukes and cukes this weekend so they start growing up and not out! Carrots are coming in and I think the spinach is too. Have to thin out the lettuces and kale, I think. They look healthy, but don't appear to be growing. I'm sure throwing the whole pack of seeds out did not help! lol

I'm looking forward to the holiday, but still would prefer a long weekend to a one day break - I think!

Have a great night you two!

Best laid plans

My Dad and I have to go out of town unexpectedly, today/tomorrow. I don't know if I will get any exercise. (unless you count driving, and I don't.)

I did get my cardio yesterday. Michelle Dozois is really fun. I like her a lot. I tried out one of her discs, I got it from Netflix. I might look into adding some of her workouts.

Tricia- I can't believe you actually did crossfire, I think I will start with one of those short premixes. Yikes!!! I have it, I'm just scared:eek: Yoga always hits my upper body, I can only do it every other day (most of the time.)

Jane- Happy July to you too!!!

Alisha

I am doing legs tonight, most likely the 10 reps of back squats, zercher, thrusters and sumos for about 7 rounds. It's a great workout and I can really see the difference when I do them once a week.

What is everyone doing for the 4th?

I am getting up and going to my mom's to work on the trail in her yard. We will probably work for a couple of hours, then have a naughty lunch, then going swimming in the afternoon.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you enjoyed CrossFire. The bloom on my lemon tree survived the storms and I'll at least get a couple of more lemons. My orange tree has tons of fruit but they won't be ripe until November.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you get your cardio in. Have a safe trip!

I had to take yesterday as a rest day. Its 1:17 pm here. I may decide to try the low impact Cross Fire premix and then do a lunar yoga practice. Its too hot right now. Tomorrow will be the double step cardio premix from 4DS. I haven't done that in forever. On Friday I may be out of the area again.

Today was all driving in the morning. We are just having a festive burgers/watermelon meal.

Jane- Have you tried making any lemony treats?

Tricia- What kind of lettuce are you growing?

Alisha

Morning ladies!

Hope you had a good 4th! Mine was totally miserable. :( Tuesday and Wednesday night were sleepless due to really late fireworks somewhere that were really deep and boomy (boomie?) keeping Peanut all stressed even in her thundershirt and a half a valium. She did great during the early ones, but the ones going until 1:00 a.m. were bad. We're through though, finally. I hope so anyway. Sure we'll still have the crazies setting off fireworks in the neighborhood through the weekend, but hopefully the a/c and tv will keep it covered up enough that Peanut will be okay.

Worked out 3 days in a row! Yoga on Sunday, Crossfire on Monday and upper body trisets on Tuesday. Took off the last 2 days due to soreness and sleep deprivation, but I'll be back on today.

Alisha - how did you like the Crossfire premix? I'm growing a mesclun blend and a gourmet blend.

Jane - Great leg workout! Sounds like you enjoyed a nice 4th! Hope the weather cooperated!

We just stayed home and didn't do anything. We were both totally beat.

We went to the America's Cup races! Did I tell you guys that? Anyway, that was amazing! We took the motorcycle and I was so stiff and sore afterwards! That's why I did yoga on Sunday!

Well, have a great Friday!

TGIF!!!

This has been one crazy week. Yesterday it was like Monday all over again but now it's Friday. YAY!!

Anyway the 4th was good. I worked in mom's yard for 2 hours, then had lunch, then went swimming until a storm blew in and I went home and read for a hour. It was very active but I did have some bad (good) food...mostly fried chicken, cookies and ice cream.

Last night I ran 4 miles. It wasn't that bad outside...sunny with temps in the low 90's and somewhat of a breeze.

I'm doing something tonight but I'm not sure yet.

Alisha ~ I haven't made any lemony treats. I do squeeze a whole lemon into water every day and use lemon juice in my blueberry muffins.

Tricia ~ I was kept awake by the fireworks too. The City shot them off around 9:30-10pm but some idiot was shooting them off at 11pm. Seriously...some people have to go to work in the morning.

I try to come back and post my workout for tonight.

This morning I did the Less Impact premix on To the Max then I did the no equipment Stretch Max. Tomorrow will be a combination of salsa DVDs.

I have had a really busy day. I had to take my Dad's truck to get the brakes fixed. I had to call Sear's to get someone to fix the washing machine (its not draining.) I did dishes, scooped kitty litter, watered the garden, vacuumed my bedroom, and cleared emails. I'm wore out. Now I have to go pick up the truck again.

Jane- I love lemon/blackberry muffins. Great job on your runs! My Dad drinks lemon water for his digestion, it seems to help. Me, I drink it because its low calorie and tastier than plain water (unless I'm hot, then plain is best.)

Tricia-I hate being kept awake by fireworks. Poor Peanut, I hate the noise too. Your garden sounds delicious. Good job for working out 3 days in a row!! I did like the Tabata premix. But, man it is really short!! And, even though I worked as fast as I could, I don't think my HR was as high as it is when I'm running hills. Thats just more intense for me. That said, I love using the sliding discs, they make me laugh, I feel like such a goober doing it!

Alisha

I am going to do Low Impact Challenge this morning and this evening will be Yoga Today with Sarah Kline. The plan for tomorrow is a joggle and some yoga.

Alisha

Happy Monday!

I will try to get caught on up the workouts:

Friday was the max number of rounds in 30 minutes of: 10 push presses, 10 swings, 10 weighted squats and a 200m run. I believe I did 6 rounds.

Saturday I did an upper body workout mixed in with swings. It was 4 rounds. So it went something like this - 20 bicep curls, 20 swings, 20 pull ups, 20 swings, 20 push ups, 20 swings, etc. I used my biggest kettlebell the 53# and I was really sore on Sunday. I also did farmer's walk around the block with my sister.

Sunday was a 9 mile run in 100% humidity but we did really well. Yay!!

Alisha ~ I hope you have a nice joggle. It is hot where you are? We are having the typical summer...lows in the 70's, highs in the 90's and rain chances every day.

Hi Tricia ~ Hope you had a good weekend!

Hi Ladies!

Okay, where did I leave off?

You two are rocking the workouts! Yay! Me, not so much. It hurts, I'm slow, breathless all the time and the DOMS are killer! Trying to just suck it up and get through it until my strength builds back up and my endurance. Man, it's harder now than it was when I first started with Cathe! I have got to get over the whole burnout thing! No more! Must . . . keep . . . at it!:confused: (Sweaty, tired face. This had to do.)

Afraid of To The Max, but I will get it done. Not tonight. Came home and started doing chores. I reset my alarm to try and get up in the mornings again. The pups are waking me up anyway, so I might was well make the effort to get out of bed and just get it done. We shall see!

The weekend was nice. Didn't do much but rest up from the stupid holiday! Got some reading done. I'm about halfway through Book 3 of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. These are really good! Not scary so much as fantasy with a lot of suspense. Typical, SK.

Today was busy at work so the day went by fast. Glad for that! I have my gyn appointment tomorrow morning, so the work day will be short for me! Yay! Hopefully, this will make for a speedy week!

Have a great night you two! I'll check in tomorrow and let you know if I made it out of bed or not!

I forgot to post Monday's workout. I did 280 squats - 7 rounds of 10 reps each of back squats, Zercher Squats, Thrusters and Sumo Squats with a 45# barbell. This workout is very deceptive because I don't have any DOMS right now but I will tonight and tomorrow. I also did 30 calf raises with the barbell as well.

Today is a rest day! I'm stopping at mom's on the way home tonight.

Tricia ~ Did you get up this morning? Are you trying to do the whole workout? Why not do it for 30 minutes and then increase the time each time you do the workout. That way it won't be so much of a dread for you until you get your strength and endurance back. Hope your appt. goes well today.

Alisha ~ How are you? I hope all is going well in your neck of the woods!

Its too darn hot

to run. So, I took a rest day. My left foot is hurting. I think I came down wrong during one of those plyo jumps.

I've been enjoying the new workouts. I noticed that my cardiovascular output is improving. There may be something to the science behind it. I had always done intervals (well, ok always meaning since I started working out seriously 5 years ago.) but I hadn't tried the Tabata. I have done some HIIT. Tomorrow depends on my foot. Its supposed to be 105 deg. F. here so if I do anything it will be at o'dark hundred.

On Thursday I go to see the gyn, I seem to have some sort of a lump and I'm hoping its nothing. Fingers crossed. It was time for a pap anyway.

Jane- Holy Cow Jane, thats a lot of squats!!! Say hi to your Mom for us, how is she doing?

Tricia- Her new workouts are supposed to red line you (90 % or 100 % of max) so don't beat yourself up for it being hard- its supposed to be. I am not up to trying either workout in their entirety, I'm just doing the shorter premixes. Bless Cathe for including those, otherwise this would be a set of DVDs gathering dust.

Morning ladies! It's hump day! Whew! :D

That IS a ton of squats! Yikes! Hope your mom is doing well! I did not make it up early. I've just got to get moving again. Don't know why it is so hard these days. If I had access to the premixes, that would be perfect! I'll work something out. I did squeak out TTM after work last night and it about killed me! Wow! Fast, fun, but it pushes you to the puke zone!

Alisha - How's your foot today? Hope it's better! Definitely have to watch those landings on any jumping moves! 105! That is really hot! Hope your appointment goes okay! Sending you positive energy!

I had my gyn yesterday and she scheduled me for an ultrasound. She found it odd that I'm having such terrible cramping again with my periods and didn't like that I'm having extra days of spotting and breakthrough bleeding especially since I should be hitting the big M really soon. Next Thursday I go for that.

Well, no closing today at work, so it will be a long, slow day. At least we're at mid-week! Have a great one you two!

I'm going for a 3-4 mile run after work tonight unless it rains and I'll do something else.

Alisha ~ I hope your foot gets better and that your appointment goes well. I'm glad your cardio is improving. Mom is doing very well. She turned a corner in April and has been doing more stuff and generally has more energy. She still gets tired but for the most part she is well and happy. She had her blood test today for her glucose. She no longer has to take daily glucose readings but she does take it every once in while. She has lost about 17 pounds since March.

Tricia ~ Good job on your workout!! It doesn't matter when you do it, just as long as you do it. I hope your ultrasound goes well. A girl at work was having a lot of cramping with her periods and she had polyps so she had a D&C and she also had a endometrial ablation so she doesn't get periods anymore. I have been skipping periods for a while now. I think I went about 8 or 9 months without one but starting in January I have been getting them every other month but they last a day and they are very light. I can't wait for them to be gone for good.

Crossing my fingers that its nothing.

This afternoon, I'm doing '10 min. Solution Latin Dance Mix'. Its too hot to go outside. Its 105 deg. F. out there. Tomorrow will be my yoga in the AM. Then, I have my dr. appt. at 8:30 am.

Good news: My Dad got a short job, its only a couple of weeks, but at least one of us is employed!! My serpentine belt needs to be replaced so thats a good thing. I'm watching a webinar about how to do marketing for photography. I do have some money in the bank, I could sell my old gear, and upgrade.

Jane- Did it rain on you? My foot is feeling better. I don't really know why it was feeling weird. Maybe its time for new shoes. I'm so glad that your Mom is feeling better. A 17 pound loss is really excellent for a person watching their blood sugar. I don't think I ever managed more than 35 per year, even with Cathe.

Tricia- That work out is definitely in the puke zone:confused: Thank you for the positive energy. Have your gyn check for zinc, calcium, and magnesium deficiencies. Any one of those can cause your symptoms. My grandmother had a lot of success with adding a cal/mag/zinc, it helped with cramping and menstrual migraines. I hope that your gyn can iron this out for you.

Alisha

Here is tonight's workout:

4 Rounds
10 KB Squat to Slasher
10 Swings
10 Squat Thrust to Deadlifts
10 Thrusters
Rest
3 Rounds
5/5 Clean/Squat/Press
10 H2H Swings
10 Push ups
50 Jump Rope or Jumping Jacks

I was able to get my run in yesterday. It was cloudy, humid but in the 80's so it was rather pleasant.

Alisha ~ I'm keeping my fingers crossed on your appointment today. I hope it went well and the news was good.

Congratulations to your dad!!!

Hi Tricia!

I went for a good hike today. I took yesterday as a rest day. We went to the movies, we saw Ice Age and Brave. I will do a workout tomorrow, but I have no idea which one yet.

My appointment was fine. My gyn said my lump in question was benign.

Jane- Humidity can make any run unpleasant.

Tricia- How is it going?

Alisha
