Jogglers April 2012

I wish I knew a good joke to start us off. But, I don't. Well, ok, how about the 'low fat diet', that was a joke, but I think it was more mean than helpful.:p

Welcome to April, Jogglers!!!!!

Alisha

This morning I did an oldie from Kathy Smith called Winning Workout. Its like 4DS in format. The first 35 minutes are Hi/Lo and then there is a 25 min. whole body weight section. There are progressively difficult exercises designed to be done over a 12 week period. I could have used significantly heavier weights, but I hadn't done this one before so I didn't know what to expect. I want to get a late afternoon hike today. Tomorrow will be

After I take a shower, I have to go to the Assessor's office to take care of my business property tax, then pop down to Green Acres to drop off my old uniform, I'm thinking about getting two thank you cards, one for each of my managers, because they were really nice to me. I hate to have to go back. Gah.:( I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon at Tech Video in Folsom, its a general office position. Apparently the job involves a lot of scheduling.

Happy April everybody!!!

Alisha

Happy April!

I missed a couple of days.

Here is Friday's workout
3 Rounds
50 Step Ups (25 each leg)
40 H2H Swings
30 Walking Lunges (30 each leg)
20 Weighted Squats
Run down to the block and back

Saturday was a rest day.

Sunday's workout
Run 3 miles
100 push ups
Run 2 miles
200 squats
50 sit ups
1 mile walk (should have been run but too tired)

I'm doing an upper body workout tonight but I haven't found it yet.

This weekend went by too fast. I was at mom's most of the day on Saturday. She has been down and working on processing everything that has happened to her in the last couple of years. She is still having pain especially in her back that gets her down. I try to get her to walk, walk, walk, but she can't go far and she is afraid that she will fall. We had some good talks but other than that, all I can do is pray for her. I talked to her this morning and she seems good and went into work. She does better when she is around people.

I took my car to be serviced yesterday and I have an oil leak (which I knew about) that will probably cost about $600. I'm thinking of getting a new car. This one is 7 years old and it has 134,000 and I have money saved up for a new one so I think it's time. In January I put in over $200 for a repair job so I think pouring another $600 into this car is a waste of money. The mechanic told me that oil leaks are a tricky thing and once you have one, then you have them forever and I tend to agree with that because I had the same problem with another car and that it how it died.

Alisha ~ I am sorry about your job but you seem to have a great handle on everything and now you have another job interview. Good job for you!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your interview. Those thank you cards would be a wonderful idea. I did that after an interview and it really made an impression. I didn't get a the job initially but then something happened with the first person they offered it to and I ended up getting the job. It's always nice to have a business reference you can rely on.

Tricia ~ I hope you are feeling better today. I wish we lived closer too and then you could come to our scary (LOL) backyard workouts!! Anyway...I hope you are back in the groove, girl. Hang in there!

Alisha - ick! Taxes! Hope you got your hike in today! I agree those thank you cards are a wonderful idea!

Hope you enjoyed your oldie workout too!

Jane - you always do great workouts! Who knows . . . We could end up just about anywhere once Stephen starts putting in for teaching jobs.

At least you've planned for a new car. Oil leaks are the worst!

No workouts for me yet. I spent my weekend on the couch and literally did nothing. Today, I had to go pick up Peanut's medicine at lunch and get kitty litter after work then go grocery shopping. All the things I was supposed to do this weekend. At least it's done. Hopefully, I'll find the motivation to run tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be great the rest of the week at around 60. I'm going to take my stuff to work with me.

On a happy note, my raw recipe made the Cathe.com recipe spotlight! I hope this means a $100 gift certificate! That was one delicious meal! I really want a Cathlete shirt!

Have a great night you two! Thanks for being here and being so terrific! First thing we need to do once Stephen gets Orkney is get together somewhere for a weekend! We will make that happen!

Here is last night's workout. I really liked this one.

30 sec work/ 15 sec rest/ 3x
1- Swing / One- Leg Strict Press R/L
2- Up Right Row / 1- Arm Swing R/L
3- OH KB Hold / Swing
4- Press (2kbs) / Bent Over Rows ( 2-kb’s)
5- Triple Crush / Halo
6- Kettlebell Sit- Up / Floor Press

Tonight will be a 4 mile run.

Tricia ~ I will have to look for your raw recipe. Congratulations!!

Well, Florida State University and FAMU are here so hopefully you can come to Florida or near Florida/Georgia when Stephen starts applying for teaching jobs.

Hi Alisha!

Jane - Your workout looks fab! I'd love to end up further south again. Stephen would be miserable though!

Did not run today. Was going to start Cathe's April rotation instead and didn't start that either. I bumped it to tomorrow. Of course, the first workout in the rotation is one I don't have - MMA Boxing, but I do have MMA Kickboxing, so will start with that one, if I can get my ass in gear! I really need to!

I think I'll try Sean's meditation that was released through Cardio Coach recently. Maybe that will help.

Have a great night! Tomorrow's hump day, yay!

Hi Alisha! Hope you had a good day!

took a rest day

I took yesterday as a rest day. My job interview in the afternoon was ok. I don't think I got it, but thats ok. I'm planning on a Cathe workout this afternoon, probably a step workout plus a session of Tracy's omni (just the strength portion.) Tomorrow will be a the low impact premix from Kick Max.

Jane- That looks like a great workout.

Tricia- Did you start your new rotation?

Alisha

I didn't get my run in yesterday because it rained so I did this instead:

25 anchored sit ups with 25# kettlebell
100 Jump rope
25 Russian Twists
50 Walking Lunges (50 each leg *ouch*)
25 Reverse Crunches
50 Weighted Squats
25 anchored sit ups with 25# kettlebell
50 Side Squats - R
10 Super Planks
50 Side Squats - L
25 Russian Twists
50 Hand to Hand Swings

I will try for a run again tonight but we have the threat for rain again. So we'll see what happens.

Work is busy today so I'll be back tomorrow.

Alisha - sorry the job interview was meh, but glad that you're okay with it. No, I have yet to get started on my rotation.

Jane - hope you get a run in today!

I want that Zombies Run app! I think I could get consistent with running again with something fun like that!

Nothing new - same ole stuff. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day!

I had to cut Kick Max short to just 40 min. I did all the drills and skipped the toning. Dad and I have to go to a tiny town and do an inspection. Tomorrow will be either step or a joggle. I missed yesterday's workout because we had to leave early and I wasn't expecting to go to work.

Jane- Zombies sound like a great motivator to run like H3LL!!!

Tricia-Did you get a workout today?

Alisha

Hi Chicklets!

I actually managed to get a run in yesterday. It didn't rain and I did about 3 miles. It wasn't the best run but at least I did it.

My sister got her new car yesterday - a 2012 Buick Regal in Black. It's really sporty (she was driving my aunt's 1998 Buick Regal). They have really changed. It's a beautiful car!! I have to get mine soon before the oil leak gets too bad.

Here is tonight's workout. If it rains I substitute something for the 400m Run.

Jump rope - 25 secs work/15 secs rest - 15 sets
Then - Reps 20, 15, 10, 5
Clean, Squat, Press R/L (or double)
1-Arm Kettebell Swings R/L
Pull over Sit ups
400m Run (after each round)

I'm off work tomorrow as we have to take mom Gainesville for her oncologist appt, then off to Jacksonville for an overnight shopping trip. We will be back on Saturday afternoon.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry the interview didn't work out. Hope you have a nice joggle tomorrow. 40 minutes of Kick Max sounds good.

Tricia ~ What does Stephen have against the South?

I will be back on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. Have a great Friday!

Hi Alisha! At least you got some workout in! I still have not started. Hope tomorrow is better for workouts!

Jane - the only thing he doesn't like is the heat, oh, and the humidity! We are opposites! I hate the cold and he loves it. He hates the heat and I love it! Sigh, hope we get to meet somewhere in he middle at some point!

I still haven't gotten my $100 gift certificate code from Cathe yet, but I keep checking daily! Can't remember how long it took last time. I know it's only been a couple of days, but I'm excited!

I really need to get a handle on my mental state. Once I accomplish that, the rest will fall back into place.

I'm definitely getting that Zombies Run app. Just have to get me an iTunes card this weekend. Ready for the work week to be over.

Have a great night and TGIF tomorrow!

I'm up!

I enjoyed yesterday's hike. I had a protein shake about a half hour ago and I'm planning on doing JM's Shred it with Weights (Kettle bells), followed by Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Workout (Hi/Lo). Tomorrow will be a yoga day.

I have to get the oil in my car changed.

Tricia-You have that backwards. Your mental state won't improve until you start working out. It doesn't work in the other direction. You keep waiting for motivation, but the ability to control ourselves and our habits is directly tied to whether or not we got exercise. Don't use motivation to get your workout. Just do it. Then you can use your new found will power (earned with kettlebell swings and laps around the block.) to stay on track with your diet. Come on, we can do it together.:D

Jane-I hope your Mom's visit to the oncologist goes well. I could handle living in FL again, I don't mind the heat as much, but I really hate being cold all the time!

Alisha

Alisha - Thanks! You're right. Well, I got Zombies Run today, so I'll start that on Monday. My car wouldn't start yesterday morning, so had to beg a ride in to work and a ride home. I hate that! You'd think my co-workers would offer a ride home without me having to hunt and beg. I felt horrible. Why should I feel bad? I'll walk before I beg ever again! Tough week. At least it was just the battery, but now I owe one of my attorneys lunch! lol

Enjoy your workout today! Glad you had a nice hike yesterday!

I got me a young Thai coconut today at Whole Foods! Excited to finally try one!

Hi Jane! Hope your mom's appointment went well and you had a fun shopping day!

Happy Bunny Day!

Tricia- I hate begging for help. It sux. I need to get that Zombies app. That coconut sounds delicious!!! That reminds me, I have coconut milk to use. I could make some coconut and date rice today! Have a great Easter! Hug all your pets and tell Stephen that all your friends appreciate that he appreciates you!

Jane- I hope you are having a wonderful Easter! How is your Mom?

I'm leaning towards a yoga day. I have brand new Shiva Rea (spl?) discs that must come out of their shrink wrap. I want to try the 'yoga for women' disc. The rest of the week will be CTX. I haven't done a whole week of CTX in forever. Its an oldie but its a goodie.

Alisha

Alisha - we're cracking the coconut today. Thanks for your support!

I read The Runner's Guide this weekend. The game sounds so fun! I'm starting it tomorrow. Just charged my iPod Nano and my Garmin is now charging! I think it's supposed to rain, but I'm going anyway!

Enjoy the yoga and let me know how you like the new Shiva Rhea yogas. I can't ever spell it either!

Hope you're having a great day! Ours has been quiet. The sun is just coming out today.

My Viognier is not cooperating and I had to send an email to the company to ask what to do. They're off until Tuesday. I'm hoping the SG drops so I end up not needing them. Either way, I hope it will still be viable. I don't want to waste it and have to start over. That'd be an expensive throw away! Wish me luck!

Hi Jane!

Tricia- I hope your viognier is behaving itself. Did you enjoy your zombie run?

I took yesterday as a rest day. Today I have to drive down to Lockford (close to Galt.) and pick up a yellow digital level that we forgot on Saturday. I'm going to have my CTX All Step (shoulders) + 4DS HIS (cardio only premix.) mish mosh later in the afternoon. I forgot to do my laundry again:eek: I can't do my workouts without my workout pants.

Jane- Did you have a good Easter?

Alisha

Hi Girls,

I'm sorry I have been MIA for so long. The weekend just flew by. My mom's appointment went well and we are awaiting the results from one of her tests. She is doing better and seems to be out of the depression she was in a couple of weeks ago.

Shopping and a change of scenery was nice. My goal was to do buy clothes and stay in budget which I did. So I'm happy I didn't cave. My eating was ok but I allowed for that. I had only 1 naughty meal each day so I think that is pretty good.

Yesterday was a 8 mile run. It was 48 degrees!! What?? It felt good though. I have to remind myself that it's going to be hot for the next 5 months so enjoy the chill while I can. We didn't really do anything for Easter. The Easter bunny was in my yard though so I said hello to him (so cute).

I'm doing an upper body workout tonight but haven't figured out exactly what workout yet.

Tricia ~ I hate begging people for rides and stuff. When my sister worked down here it was great because I could take my car in and stuff. Then I just felt bad about begging people all the time, even though I always included lunch or something. Now I just take my car in on weekends. I wish my sister would find a job down here.

I looking at new cars on Saturday. My sister just bought the Buick Regal. It is not an old person's car anymore. That car is just SWEET!! She let me drive in on Saturday and I didn't want to give it up. Since I have $3000 in GM Money I'm probably looking at the Regal or the LaCrosse. I would love the Enclave but it's too pricey. I also like the Terrain but the gas mileage isn't very good.

Alisha ~ While you are doing your laundry will you do mine too! :p Hope you have a good trip today. Enjoy your workout.

I skipped the shoulders/abs in favor of a pilattes DVD from Kathy Smith. I did do the All Step cardio and 4DS LIS cardio. Tomorrow will be another CTX/4DS mish mosh with 10/10/10 plus the 4DS KB cardio premix.

I just got a call from my Mom, there is a job fair in town and Cal pers will be there recruiting. I have an outfit ready to go, printed out two resumes, and I'm my nails a nearly dry (just the base coat). I use a phathalate free brand (spl?). Its dark and rainy out there. I better make sure I have the workout clothes in the washer. I'm a little keyed up. No real reason. I might need to do a healing meditation before I put on my clothes. Those only take 20 minutes. I don't have to leave for two hours. My blender bottle (bpa free, the pink one with the little wire wisk ball.) is clean, I plan to have a protein shake before I go and to get some fish after the job fair.

Jane-Good job on your run!!! Its kind of cold here too. Go figure. I saw an Easter Bunny in my front yard. I think my flowers are in danger, the bunnies love to eat the blossoms. I guess flowers are nutritious.

I'm glad your Mom is starting to feel a little bit better. My Aunt Peggy (the one recovering from non hodgkins lymphoma, a heart attack, and stint surgery.) has had success with light massage. It seems to be helping her recover from the chemo and has helped with her depression. Do you think that would help your Mom?

That car sounds great. As soon as I have my next job, I will be looking at a new car. I'm leaning towards the Kia Soul in light green. I call it the rat mobile in honor of the commercial.

Tricia-How are you liking the zombies?

Alisha

I am taking a rest day.

Here was my workout from last night. This was tough and had a good cardio feel about it. My heart rate was up there. Shoulders are very toasty today.

A minute work of work/10 seconds of rest - 4 rounds
Hand to Hand Swings
Double Kettlebell Press
Kettlebell Halos
Double Kettlebell Rows
Double Kettlebell Floor Press
Walkouts
 Finisher:
30 Push Ups
50 Rope Slams
30 Pull ups

Alisha - Good Luck with the job fair. We have a bunny in our yard every day from Spring until Fall. They like our grass. We don't have many flowers, just lots of shrubs and bushes. My sister speaks French to bunny when we workout (she is weird).

We have talked to mom about getting a massage but she hasn't taken us up on the offer yet. My sister goes once a week and has talked to my mom about it. I think my mom is more interested in a facial. I guess the healing process comes in waves. It seems like she will be doing good for a couple of weeks and then BAM she gets aches and pains again. The oncologist told her the pain is from the radiation not chemo. She said the chemo drugs leave your body quickly. I have encouraged her to walk everyday or get some sort of exercise but she isn't there yet. I wish I could go over there every day and get her outside and walk but I can't.

Tricia ~ Don't let the Zombies get you!! They would probably get me because I run very slowly.
