Hi,

I was wondering if any of you have tried Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown? I have Bob Harper's Biggest Loser weightloss Yoga and its really awesome, I was just wondering how Jillian's Yoga Meltdown compares. Thanks in advance for you comments.

Hugs!

Nora;)

Hi Nora,

I only have Jillians Yoga Meltdown so I can't compare the two. What I can tell you is the JM Yoga Meltdown is not "traditional" yoga. Jillian takes a more athletic approach and does what she calls "repping it out". So for a pose say Warrior, she will have you "rep it out" before holding the pose. I've done Level 1 several times but Level 2 only once. I like the DVD and I like Jillian in this workout. Hope this helps.

ETA: FWIW - I don't like traditional Yoga so that may have affected my like for the workout.

I have the same opinion as Maria (I also don't have the other yoga workout to compare). I have done both levels, thought and would say they are more complementary than really being at different levels so you could do them together for an hour long hard workout or alternate the two.

Sorry I can't compare to the other video but I do Level 1 every week on my easy day (along with Stretch Max). I actually consider this a combo between a light cardio workout and a body weight training/stretching workout.

I love doing this form of "yoga" (hard to call it that since it is not traditional). I find traditional yoga boring and have a hard time focusing on what I am doing when in a pose for too long.

I have only done Level 2 once because some of the moves involve upper body strength and better balance which I am still working on.

I would say this video is worth doing if you don't mind that it is not traditional in the sense of staying in a pose for a period of time and then moving on.

Hi,

Thanks for your helpful comments I really appreciate your take on Yoga Meltdown. I did go and buy it. It sounds like fun.

Thanks again,;)

Nora

Does Jillian come across as a drill sergant in this workout, like she seems to be on tv? While I like to watch BL and I know a lot of it is probably hype for ratings, I prefer more workouts with instructors who are not drill sergant types.

I agree with all the other posts. Jillian doesnt come across as a drill sergeant to me at all in this one. She actually has a softer appearance too her hair is a bit different and she looks like she's got a bit more/or softer looking makeup. She actually looks a bit girlie!

Yep, Stacy is correct she is more mellow in this workout. I actually like her in the Last Chance workout as well - which surprised me since it is a "Biggest Loser" series workout. She had a pleasant personality vs her BL persona.

I have never seen the BL so I don't know how she is on that (although I have heard some things). I do own some of her first workout videos (The Biggest Winner series) and my husband called her a mean drill sergeant when I used those. But on her later videos (30 Day Shred, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, and No More Trouble Zones), she mellowed out. I actually like her last 4 videos and still use those occasionally in my rotations. She is coming out with another Shred video on 9/7 using weights. I am actually looking forward to getting it.

She is obviously not as pleasant or happy as Cathe (who is?) but I don't find her annoying like some people do. Plus I have to give her credit for helping me get back into working out. I started working out with her 30 Day Shred and moved on to her others which eventually led to me needing to try other instructors for more of a challenge--enter Cathe!!:D
