Jay Johnson's Boot Camp Fitness series

Has anyone glommed onto this one yet? I saw it discussed on the VF forum, and checked out a YouTube squib on it (link posted below). Then, OF COURSE, went to Total Fitness DVD and bought 3 out of the 4 workouts that are being produced, on preorder.

The footage looked really good, and I like Jay Johnson's military-inspired style (no surprise given that he's a military man). Apparently he is a trainer of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. While my nonexistent cheerleading days are wayyyyy in the rearview mirror, it looks like he puts them thru their paces! I myself got "Ultimate Fitness", "Boot Camp 3 X 30" and "Ultimate Abs"; there's a fourth called "Ultimate Body Vol. 1" that I passed on.

I know these will never compete with my beloved Cathes or my beloved Shauns, but I think they'll have a place!

I am going to order after the first of the year as well. I am currently in the midst of a self-imposed buying freeze. Thankfully, it doesn't include borrowing DVDs from my library or viewing them free on ExerciseTV on Demand. I borrowed the two Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader workouts from my library. Don't waste your money on them. They are listed as being "intermediate level." I personally think they are more beginner. Though, I do like his training style. A lot of people don't like his "yelling" but I don't mind it. Funny that. I hated it during basic training!

Oh dear, I'm thinking about it! I've been trying to bust out of my comfort zone. I've been doing Tabata-style hill sprints outside on the mother of all hills, and without sunscreen! How's that for bold and daring!? This looks like a reasonable step to take (I almost bought Insanity but, well, that WOULD be insane for me).

Should I? Is it too much for an old fart of 54 who normally does cardio on an elliptical?

Do you have ExerciseTV On Demand through your cable provider? If so, they have one of Jay's workouts on there. They also have the Cheerleader ones:rolleyes:. Try it and see what you thing. I thought it was a pretty good workout.

Carrie, thanks for the review of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader workouts. I was indeed considering them.

As the wife, sister, niece, daughter and aunt of military personnel or veterans, I'm kind happy about supporting a military veteran! Especially in such a manner.

Oh, and just in passing . . .

HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY TO YOU, CARRIE, AND THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!

Love,

Thanks A-Jock. I always feel guilty being considered a "veteran" because I didn't actually see combat.

Carrie, not being a veteran myself maybe I'm talking out of school here, but IMHO service to one's country in the military takes many forms, combat being one of them but not the only one. Military preparedness takes a lot of work, a lot of commitment, and a lot of sacrifice in many ways (including financial), and you are to be applauded for that which you did. I stand by my sentiments to you!
