Jari Love - clarifications, please

Hello. Could someone please give me a brief description of how Jari's three DVDs differ from one another? On paper, they look the same, but I'm sure they seem quite different to someone who's actually tried them.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies!!:)

The original "Ripped" is the least intense. Each segment lasts about 5 minutes, and does one or two exercises for each muscle group. It's the only one that contains inner/outer thigh floorwork (with sides miscounted :-( ). One of the background exercisers--Krista--who is a PT, makes comments a couple of times during the workout and is annoying, IMO. The music is the loudest in this workout, and it seems like people either love it or hate it. It's got a very driving beat, not at all 'recognizable top 40,' but more like "you are in a workout factory." I personally love it!

"Ripped: Slim and Lean" also has segments that are 5 minutes long and focus on one body part each. This one seems longer than the others (though it isn't) and the chest track (where you just do chest presses for 5 minutes, with various counts) seems interminably long, IMO. The chest and shoulders are particularly well worked with this one. The tricps segment is a bit lame when done 'as-is' IMO. The music will be familiar to anyone who knows Cathe's older workouts, and has been used in some Reebok workouts as well. It is not very loud. Jari seemed a bit "femme-botish" to me in this one towards the end, especially the first few time I did it.

"Get Ripped to the Core" also has 5-minute segments, but the moves are primarily compound moves. The workout goes by much more quickly than "Slim and Lean"(though it's the same length). There is an emphasis on engaging the core throughout, and most moves include both upper and lower body moves. Some moves include deadlift/row, side squats off step with lateral raise, 'spider/push-up" (for 'spider,' get into plank position on hands, then go down to elbows, one arm at a time, then back up). The music is mostly non recognizable, with a good beat, not as loud as in the original.

"Ripped" has a dark, plain set, while the other two workouts are on a set that looks like a workout room, with motivational words on the wall, and a brighter (though not "bright") look.

The original is well-chaptered, and it's easy to navigate from one segment to another. The latest two workouts are oddly set-up. Each segment is its own 'title' instead of an actual chapter, and each one starts at "0" count. One problem with this is that if you back chapter, it doesn't necessarily take you to the previous chapter, but way back to the beginning again, or to the final chapter. I find that very annoying.

"Get Ripped to the Core" is my favorite, but I also like the other two (though the original is not as advanced as the two newer ones).

I'm looking forward to Jari's two workouts coming out in November (I think).

HTH!

Hi Jillybean-

I have Ripped and Slim and Lean. I was a bit disappointed in the ab section of both. I expected a longer ab section. The ab work that is there is good but doesn't seem long enough to do alot of good.

I agree with the previous post on most other items. I personally like slim and lean better b/c it focuses more on leaning out the lower body, I think.

I use them as a substitute to muscle endurance or power hour sometimes.
As far a Jari goes---She is an adequate instructor but I don't really need the zen tidbits she throws out. For example..."find your strength in the universe...feel the power our your spirit... etc." those aren't exact quotes but you get the idea.

hope that helps
