January's Rotation

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, and I've missed it (if so, could someone please point me in the right direction):

For those who have completed January's rotation, what was it like? What sort of results did you get? Did anyone add other workouts to it? What was the balance like between strength / metabolic conditioning / cardio? Any other snippets? Advice?

I'm thinking of doing the rotation in March as part of a bodybuilding programme. If there's a better Gym Style rotation, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!
Justine

Just wondering if any one can comment yet? Also, is there a hardcore rotation somewhere ie.. Kick max, low max etc?
Thanks,
Amy

I didn't get any responses - but I'm almost 2 weeks in now, so I can answer my own questions!
The rotation is one of the best I've done for MY body. I've always responded well to 'metabolic' workouts, and this is no different. I'm getting very lean and cut - in fact I'm going to have to be careful not to drop any more weight. There's quite a bit of band work, and that's giving me lovely definition - all those smaller muscle groups working. I'm not gaining strength, though. I'd say this rotation is for aesthetics and endurance (rather than strength, hypertrophy or fitness).

Awesome results, Justine! I've been thinking about what to do after STS, I'll be starting Meso 3 next week. I had considered the January Rotation as my follow-up rotation. You mentioned you found this to be more aesthetic, rather than strength. I was a bit surprised as this rotation contains Gym Styles. Do you think your comment is more b/c of the added cardio in this rotation or simply this is just your own body's response? I wanted a rotation to at least maintain if not add to my strength gains, so maybe this may not be the one for me (??) But, with summer coming, nothing wrong with an aesthetic rotation either! :)

Justine, those sound exactly like the results I'm looking for! I've owned the GS DVDs for a few years now but have yet to do them ..roll eyes lol. I previewed Back, should.'s and bi's last night and was blown away by Cathe's muscle mass. She was ripped in that series of videos, totally awesome. I think now that I have your encouragement I will put the Jan. Rotation on my schedule. Lately I've been doing a lot of her endurance workouts and am ready to change things up. I did FlexTrain last night, which I one of my favorites.
Again thanks for the response,
Amy

Stacy - if I'm honest, I think it's not doing much for my strength, because I'm using the weights Cathe uses, and I could probably go up very slightly  I know I should push a bit harder! Also, because I just finished STS and gained a lot of strength, I think there are no more gains to be had just for the moment. Final reason - I've lost quite a bit of fat, and I think this 'cutting' phase has stopped me gaining strength. Someone on another thread pointed out to me that the cardio was probably hindering my strength.

Amy - the Gym Styles are great. My least favourite is probably legs, but Cathe doesn't use that one very often in this rotation. The band work as a 'finisher' has me shaking! I love Flextrain, too. In fact this rotation has quite a few of my favourites (Supercuts and Cardio Leg Blast, oh and X10 when I have the energy!!)

Hope it goes well for you both - let me know what you think

Hey Justinef! Thanks for the great info on the rotation. Sounds like you had a good time with it. I got soooo busy that I blew it with sticking to the rotation. You gave me the push to get on with it! Thanks!

Love your signature quote too!

Awesome results Justine! I'll have to look at this rotation after I finish STS. I feel like I've always responded well to metabolic training as well.

I'm about two weeks into this rotation. I needed a break from heavy weights, and this is just what the Dr. ordered. I forgot about Gym Style Legs. It will kick your booty. Seeing definition in just two weeks. Love it. Highly recommend for those needing a change. Thanks for the recommendation Justine!

Funny you say that! I hate working my legs so other than running I really don't do much. Well, I did Gym Style Legs, and for the next two days my calf muscles hurt so bad, I could hardly walk. I took my daughter to the store and she said I was embarrassing her because I was walking so funny.:D

It was gym style legs for me today too!!!! My legs were shaking afterwards. All those low end lunges. And down for 4, hold for 4, low end for 4, hold for 4 THEN FINALLY back up?????????

I've only 2 days left on this rotation (tabatacise and GS Shoulders back and Bis). I'll miss it. Once I've finished the bodybuilding rotation that I'm on, I'm going to do January 2014 again. It's been as good for me as the XTrain undulating rotation was - and that had always been my favourite.

I'm hoping that Cathe will come up with another rotation based on similar principles.
