Jack is born!

I posted a message back in May asking when I should resume exercising because I had some bleeding at 6 weeks. Well, Jack was born on 1/15 and is healthy as can be. My story is great! My husband had a vasectomy 1 year after my 2nd daughter was born as we thought 2 girls was just great. As I approached my 35th, I really wanted another baby. I did some research on vasectomy reversal but I couldn't tell my husband for fear he would think I was totally loony! One morning he woke up and said he had a dream I wanted another baby and that I wanted him to get a reversal. It was God's intervention! I told him I did and he agreed! We found a wonderful surgeon in Milwaukee and he had the surgery in June 1999. We never had him tested to see if the surgery worked. We just were going to try until I was 38. I got pregnant one month before my 37th b-day, only 10 months after the surgery. We were ecstatic. I didn't have the AFP test or an amnio because I wouldn't do anything if there was something "wrong" with the baby. We also didn't want to know the sex. Jack was born 9 days past his due date after only one-hour of intense labor and pushing (thank you Cathe videos for keeping me in shape) and he weighed 9 lbs (and I am a little person!) No tears or an episiotomy which helped my recovery. Today I got through Interval Max, I didn't think I could do it yet. Now I am looking forward to getting all your new 2000 videos Cathe to get my body back in shape (about 10 lbs to go.) You are my exercise mentor! When are you having another???? Best of luck to you and keep putting out your AWESOME videos, I have them all!

Angie, first off my late congratulations on your new little son!!
I read your story and cried as I too am in a similar situation. We also decided to have my husband get the vasectomy after I found out I was pregnant with my third child. After she was born we changed our minds, but could not afford the huge cost of the surgery. So I have just been praying ever since that either the money will become available, or that God would just bless us with another miracle. My daughter Chelsi just celebrated her fifth birthday and it has been five years since the vasectomy. I just turned 33 and am still praying someday we will hold another little one in our arms. I was wondering how long did your husband go between the vasectomy and the reversal? They say after five years that it is harder to promise the reversals will work. Anyway it was so refreshing to hear a similar story, but with a wonderful ending. You enjoy that special baby boy what a wonderful gift!! I know God hears my prayers and if it is His will it will happen and if not I will love and cherish my three He has blessed me with until the day I die!! God bless, Lori Darling

Lori,

My husband had his vasectomy in October 1996 and the reversal in June 1999 so it was not quite three years. I do think the longer you wait, the less chance of a successful outcome. If I remember correctly, the best chance of success occurs if the surgery is done within 3 years of the original surgery. You also want to make sure to have a good surgeon. I think the total cost of the surgery was a bit under $6K. You are blessed with 3 children. Enjoy them. We thank God every day for our 3rd baby. My best to you!
