J. Kries Tapes--How often?

Cathlete
Hi everyone--I just purchased Jennifer Kries' new Method tapes and her Precision Toning. I tried the latter yesterday, and muscles that I didn't know I had in my torso and back ache today! Whew. Anyway, my question is: how should I balance this type of toning w/Cathe's strength tapes? Currently, I do either the PS Series or CXT strength work (including Leaner Legs) once a week and hit upper body another day (either BM upper body or MIS upper body). That way I hit everything twice a week. I do Cathe's abs sections-mostly the CXT ones--4 times a week. My goal is to have a comprehensive strength program--get the external muscles and the deep ones, too. If any of you have incorporated Pilates into your rotations, could you please advise me how you did it! Thanks in advance, Suzanne

Hi Suzanne

I shoot for 2 mat sessions each week, usually on cardio days & don't do any other ab/torso work the same day. I like alternating traditional ab work w/ Pilates. The mat work I do is not a substitute for strength training, not to say that Pilates couldn't provide all the resistance training one needs. I've read a recommendation to do Pilates mat work preceeding a strength training workout because then the muscles are warm & fluid. I prefer the reward of Pilates (muscle extension & stretching) after other workouts.

I'd love to hear what works for you & others. Maybe you could join the weekly check-in?

Debra

count me in...

What weekly check in are you referring to? By the way, my torso and back STILL haven't recovered from my first session w/the Precision Toning tape. haha. It's a good soreness, though. At this point, two times a week doing it sounds great. Thanks, Suzanne

The check-in

The check-in is on the open forum. Someone usually starts it on Saturday with most people checking in on Sunday or Monday. It's primarily a recap of their fitness weeks. It's great motivation & support, plus you get to see how others fit it all in (or at least try to).

I love jennifer Kreis

I insist on doing something Pilates at least once a week--she's my favorite. If I had time; i,e: was unemployed, had no house, laundry, cooking, husband, horse, garden, etc. I'd do Pilates based work 3 to 4 times a week. As it is, I agree with Debra: I add Pilates onto a cardio day and usallly look forward to it after the cardio because in spite of the strength components of it --I love the stretching and relaxation aspects of it.

RE: I love jennifer Kreis

Have recently been incorporating some Pilates to my wo routine. Interested to know where I would find this Kreis tape everyone seems to enjoy. Thanks for your info!

retail too

The Method tapes are widely available at places like Target, Borders, Best Buy, & Suncoast Video. The prices are usually quite low. Stott tapes are harder to find, though Borders has them.
