I've just started looking for a new job!

I have been working with the same company since 1991 (except when I took 2 years off to have my son). Business has not been doing very well for quite some time, and it appears we're going to be closing the doors in a couple/few months. It's difficult trying to find what is available, or at least with a decent salary. What I would like to know is, are interviews conducted in the same fashion as they were years ago? Do you still have to wear a "power suit"? I will not be working in the same industry, so I'm really nervous to get started. Any suggestions?

Well, it wouldn't hurt to have a pro look at your resume. There are such services out there, & they can really help you beef it up w/o lying.

Also I have this great book--Job Interviews that Work--that really helped me during the interview process. There are some really strange new HR philosophies out there & you might get questions out of left field that seem completely unrelated to the job. This book was great in explaining all that stuff.

Yes, for the most part you still have to wear the power suit (depending on the job at least). They just don't have big old shoulder pads anymore. :)

Edited to add: it's still not what you know, it's who you know. Work your connections as much as you can.

Good luck!
