I've jinxed my Rythmic Step

Have you been able to do Rythmic Step perfectly, with no mistakes, no scuffing your shoes on the platform or momentary lapse of memory? }(

I don't know why I have so much trouble with this video. I love the workout immensely. I do it on a regular basis and have done so since it was first released.
What is my problem? Don't know if this is a factor, but I had trouble with learning the moves and would always trip up complete with falling over the step. The trouble is my left feet and NOT the workout!

I got all the moves down and memorized so much so, that I would think about the moves and playing back the songs in my sleep. Then it started happening. The Jinx. First, someone would knock on the door or the phone would ring, DH would come home, or BIL would need something out of the garage. After elimenating these distractions, then it was a cricket on the floor, or seeing a spider crawl behind the TV or the dog barks or 'why is mail still on the table?'. These distractions does not occur during my other workouts...Just this one. So I have never, Ever, been able to do Rythmic Step perfectly. Is this weird or what?

Last night, I tried again. The house is quiet and calm. I'm into the first section thinking 'hey, this is good so far.' Then bam. I messed up doing the mambo cha cha thing.. my the easiest move in the entire workout.

Do you all have any problems with this or any other workout in being able to do it Perfectly? Or am I going cukoo?

Hi Wanda! Your definitely not alone on this one. It did take though 5 times to get it down pat but what I had to do first was do the first 1/2 over & over until I knew the moves by heart. Then I went onto the 2nd half again doing it over & over until I got that part down pat. Took a deep breath & forged ahead & completed the whole thing. I know what you mean too by distractions lately its always been the phone ringing & nobody picking it up or my son interrupting my workout after I've told him a MILLION times this is my time or DH coming into the room walking past me & he always comments "I simply don't know how you do it." Aarrgghh!! Can't they see I'm trying to concentrate? x( LOL Also, I know about the crickets too; we had to set off bombs in the basement to get rid of them. Its been so incredibly damp they found their way into my house somehow! LOL:D Positively disgusting! But seriously keep at it practice makes perfect. Best, Kathy:D

Speaking of crickets, I wouldn't mind them so much hopping around but...they leave (black miniature mouselike) droppings behind that vividly show up on white carpet, not to mention the health hazard. hahaha The innocent little lady bugs or whatever those things are, also leave behind their presence in the form of little yellow dots or purple, depending on what they ate. LOL
I think about them too as I try to do Rythmic Step and see them crawling amd flying in all sorts of places in my room.

Back to the step, my DH too will either say 'Hi' or goes as far as ask a business question like: "Do you know how much we've spent on feed this year so far?" Grrrrr and trip..... }(

Hi Wanda, your post makes me smile both in amusement and sympathy. You're not cuckoo. But RS can make you cuckoo! Lots of material in this workout and lots of switching from one move to the next, so you can't let your mind wander. And even when you're concentrating HARD and you know the workout well, you can still slip up. Here are the moves that drive me mad:

That triple move all around after the up and back and over the top moves. If my brain unfocuses for a split-second, that triple all around becomes a stay-in-place-and-try-to-keep-up-if-you-can.

The hop tap repeater. I swear I've mastered that, but during the challenge, when I'm switching from one move to the next, I mess it up.

That long routine involving the long hop turn with the knee, kick, and touch back followed by a straddle, an insole, a turn, then all those squats, pendulums and cha chas... That freaking simple knee, kick and touch back spoils the whole thing for me!}(

Feel free to add to the list.

Darn it, I'm trying that workout today and I'm gonna do it perfectly even if it kills me!

Nope, you're not alone. ANOTHER Cuckoo here! RS has to be THE hardest video I have ever attempted. My brain just would not work when I first got it. I put it away and dug it out a few months later and actually after a few, well a few more then a FEW tries, I was able to get thru part 1 and part 2 just okay, 3 blew me away. Ha! I kept at it for awhile trying to put it into my rotation once a week and I did see improvement. Just like one of you said, the fun factor kept me trying. Then, Cathe released the "I" Series and guess what got shelved??? Oh boy, wonder if I would start over at square one if I dug it out? YIKES! Know you are not alone Wanda!

Hi Wanda! OMG! I never knew that crickets left droppings! Now I'll have to check my off white carpet! AAAWWWW!!! LOL I'll take the lady bugs any day. I remember one day when I went down to the basement all jolly & thinking about my workout when BAM! there was a HUGE cricket on my wall write in front of the tv/vcr!! I nearly died! That's when I had to set off the bomb & run upstairs. Now that fall has set in there don't seem to be any (thank goodness). I'd be a great one for camping wouldn't I?LOL Looks like next week I'll be receiving my new BB tapes if all goes well. I've already written out my new rotation. Good luck w/RS! Kathy:D
