It's that time of year - Sugar Season!

Runcrazy

Well it started with all of YOU with your threads about chocolate and cravings...NOW, my employees have started bringing in holiday candy. Someone brought a GIANT (like a bucket) full of chocolate treats that sits on a table in my office, today we had german chocolate cake and some hazelnut chocolate cake for someone's birthday. Next week is the "coming back" of an employee who was deployed to Iraq so that will be more goodies...and Halloween hasn't even started yet! But alas! I am STILL resisting the temptation to eat it ALL!

So sugar season is here and in full swing! :+ :+ How are all of you dealing with it?

Jo

Oh No! I just don't resist that easily. Do you know how many doctor's offices bring us chocolate every year to show their appreciation? Believe me! I am not bragging!!!!

Marla

I believe you, Marla.;-) :p

I don't resist that easily either. Especially not during the last few months of the year. I buy Halloween candy I normally won't eat -- Twizzlers, Nerds, Jawbreakers, Skittles... I pass other goodies (like cookies and cupcakes) along, usually to my son's playmates. But when I'm invited to a get-together or to someone's house for dinner, I eat what is offered, including the goodies. The Texas girls can vouch for how much I can eat.;-) Because I eat more during the holidays, I use that time to bulk up.

I'm definitely not dealing with it very well. A handfull of mnm's here, a handful of chocolate chips there....

I think we may need to bring back the no sugar checkin for October.

Anyone with me????

I call it bulking up too! ;)

Kidding! :*

I've got splenda and wheat flour...I feel safe in my own kitchen, but not in another's. LOL! Last year, I went cold turkey and had no treats at all and I suffered because I was not use to going without sugar. This year, I won't suffer without my friends (splenda/wheat flour);-)

Wait a minute! You forgot Reeses Pieces, Almond Joys and freaking peanut butter cups!!

What kind of forum is this?!!!

Forget it!!! Resist??? It's futile...I'm a confirmed chocoholic...I love it as much as I love working out!!! Fortunately, so far, the big temptation is a candy dish on the secretary's desk in our Customer Service Center...And the only time I'm up there AND there's candy available is when we're clocking out to go home:) But it's all downhill from here...hehehehehe:)

I'd be up for a no sugar check in. I am sooo craving sugar that I'm known to eat those hard brown sugar lumps right out of the bag of brown sugar. I'm so bad. I know. I know....

Maggie:p

I don't keep that kind of stuff in my house, but when it comes to buying the Halloween candy, I always tell myself to buy the stuff I can easily resist (sugar candies like SweetTarts, Smarties or suckers), but I always end up buying the stiff I LOVE (Reese's PB cups, Baby Ruth, Nestle's crunch, etc.). Then of course I end up eating a ton of it on Halloween night (I won't open the bag until Halloween night, but once it's open LOOK OUT).

Sigh, it's approaching quickly... and so are all the Christmas goodies. What am I going to do???

Katie

Ugghh, I hear you. I'm involved in a mothers group called Mops (Mothers of Preschoolers) that has meetings every two weeks through the school year with a pot luck brunch. We're talking two tables full of french toast cassaroles, homemade cakes and cookies, and then there's the pies and sausage balls......it's like visiting a crack house!

I do so well with what I have in my own house, but when I go somewhere and it's staring me in the face, I can't resist!

Thank God for Splenda :)
