Good Morning and Happy Weekend to all!

My weekend actually started yesterday..I have to say, I had a great day, got some errands done, took a nap...just a perfect day all around! No workout today..it's HouseMax time...

BB in a bit..

Deb:)

Hi, I'm back,

What a chatty bunch we were yesterday! Today we are going to a play "Picaso".

Robin:
I can't believe your DH actually cleans toilets! what a lucky girl you are. don't all men have "clutter" as their middle name? You are really having fun with the pictures..me too! We have 2 names we think we like, "Chase", or "Keegan"... one of the pups pictures I posted yesterday, is named "Keegan"..the breeder names them all, then of course knows the new owners will change them, but DH kind of likes Keegan. We may be getting a differnt one, but that doesn;t matter. The other males are currently named, "Dustin", "Shea", and "Noah". I had heard that Scotsman ditty before.. funny! How was the movie?

Shelly:
Happy weekend! how was the early out yesterday? I really get 5 weeks of vacation, but did not take them all during the vacation year so I am carrying one over. Hair cut?? Give us the details! I am going Thursday and I am thinking about doing something different for summer, bangs or something. I am tired of this shoulder length layered boring look! Thanks for the answer to the MP question! DH's favorite MP movie is Life of Brian.

Jennifer:
I like the French BullDog..not for us, but it is cute!It sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead! I hope you are able to get in that garden.;-)

Shannon:
How did your hip flexor do after your workout? I agree on the snails YUK! My DG used to cook them in boiling water, alive, and they would be crawling all over the top of the pan, trying to get out...gives me the willies just thinking about it! Good luck on the job search this weekend!

Tneah:
How is George today? OMG.. the kilt picture really took me by surprise!:+ Nice job on the ad...I saw the same one in this month's SHape magazine! I never saw the 10 minute workouts, mmm interesting. But I can;t buy any more until after STS comes with all it's "requirements"! I would like to see Cher, not because I am a big fan or anything, but it looks like she puts on a good show.. and the "alone time" with your DH sounds wonderful!

Kara:
no need to apologize..I only have the upper body/abs one, that I got on Ebay. I have the whole P90X series, but not the "plus".

Lainie:
Thanks for the link! I don;t remember that parrot skit at all..it was pretty funny!

Leanne:
Countdown to REST for you ! How many more days to you have to work?

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Hello Melters.

Just got done with MM, well most of it, some spring bugs decided to move in with Seville and Madrid so I had to do some forced evictions last night and today with the vacuum.

Decided to head south again, I have faith in GOD above that change is in the midst, so I'm scouting the area in a broader range. Right now, my hair is being processed with colour from a box. It's easier and cheaper plus after seeing my stylist doing it, I learned her ways.

It's supposed to be sunny and 70 here today, rain tonight and cold on Sunday.

Tneah-thanks for the pic of the Kilts!! Way cool. The Highland Games where the guys are tossing a telephone pole is always interesting too. Very muscular men in skirts. :D

I LOVE Saturdays.

Morning All:)

I awoke at an ungodly hour-5am. Well, its ungodly to me, especially on a weekend.x( Oh well, I still sleepy though, hope it goes away after my second mug of coffee.:p

Deb, enjoy your day off from working out today...I love days off now, in fact it might be nice to take two days off each week...might think about doing that but then again am trying to stick with this rotation for as long as possible and see what happens. I love the names, 'Keegan" is the name of a little westie here that lives in our neighborhood. She gets loose every now and then and runs over to see George. Her poor owner searching frantically for the naughty puppy.:)
I am not a big Cher fan either but welcome the chance to "get away' for an evening with my poor frazzled DH, it was a long hard week work-wise for him.

Jennifer, you are welcome, thought you might get a kick out of that picture.:p Are you headed south to find a new place to live? If so, have fun, and you are right, if its meant to happen it will. I have found in my own life, when I "force" things, its always the wrong move, when I simply "let it be" the right thing always happens...if that makes sense?

Well today is another high impact workout-Imax3! Ouch. I will do it with modifications when I need to. Plus, it will help alleviate the guilt I will feel after a night of debauchery at the concert. Well, I don't go that crazy! Maybe a cocktail or two..or not, I always think I want one, then lose interest right away.;) If only I felt that way about sugary treats!

Hi to everyone!

Morning all!

Happy Saturday! Happy weekend! I'm in a good mood, for a change!

I ran six miles outside today, culminating in climbing 327 stairs up the escarpment. This is an escarpment.

http://l.yimg.com/www.flickr.com/images/spaceball.gif

I live on top of it:p

Deb - I love both those puppy names! We just kept our dog's names when we adopted them. They suit them, I think. Gilbert and Sadie - our old Jewish couple:p

Tneah - ooooh, have fun at Cher! I had to go back and look at the ad in Fitness again and was thrilled to see your name!

Jennifer - have a fun day, whatever you decide to do.

Robin - how was the movie? I've heard mixed reviews.

Shannon - hi! if you decide to check in!

Leanne - so is it all over now? Are you done for the year?

Lainie - what are you and the family up to today?

Not sure how I'm having my hair cut. I think maybe lots of choppy layers and bangs. I have a LOT of hair, so layers work well for me. And a high forehead, so bangs look better than none.

Okay, I better get my butt in gear!

Hey everyone,

I've missed you all the past two days! How has everyone been? I loved all the fun photos you've been posting, and loved all the Monty Python references! A month or so ago when we were reading _Wuthering Heights_ in my Brit Lit class, I had them watch MP's semaphore code version of WH on You Tube. It's from an old Flying Circus episode, and it's hilarious -- as all things Python are!

Well, yesterday went well at work, and we got all 800 or so essays graded smoothly. It was nice, too, because several of our part-time/adjunct instructors told me afterwards that the sample student essays I chose to use were really helpful and that our discussion before grading really helped them a lot. That made me feel good; the worse part of the whole position is yesterday's grading session since I hate having to speak in front of colleagues and leading a discussion about how we should be grading. I'm just glad that it's over -- I did this for the last two years, and now someone else will take over since I'll be on sabbatical in the fall (hooray!).

Today is Clean Max and then Amy B's Hi/Lo Knockout. Is anyone going to pre-order her new step workout? I only have her first ASC, and don't like it as much as her KB workouts, so I'm not sure if I'll get it . . . .

Deb -- Is the play tonight about Picasso himself? Sounds interesting! A few years ago we saw Steve Martin's play _Picasso at the Lapin Agile_, which was a lot of fun. Have you seen it? Keegan is such a great name for your new pup, if you end up deciding on it. My last "official" day of work is this coming Tuesday, but I'll be giving a final exam that day and then collecting research essays from two classes. Since I don't have to put comments on the essays, though, the grading is usually pretty quick. I'm hoping to get everything wrapped up by Wednesday (fingers crossed!). How great that you'll have so much vacation next year!

Shannon -- Has work slowed down for you a bit? Sounds like you had a busy week!

Robin -- Glad that DH will now be in charge of the housework. Yes, my DH also doesn't see the mess and clutter that I do. He always says that I don't need to clean house every week, but we could be up to our ears in mess and it wouldn't bother him. I'm a bit of a neat freak, though, so I always keep our house super-tidy. I hope you can make it on your hike tomorrow after church!

Jennifer -- Sounds like you have a busy day planned. Are you having any luck in looking at other areas? How has your ankle been? MM is one of my favorite workouts, but I don't get to do it as often as I'd like since I've been trying to do splits instead.

Shelley -- Wow! WTG on that run and those steps! You must have Legs of Steel! Hooray for your summer work hours, too. I just read your posting from yesterday on having a daughter, and it brought tears to my eyes. You should keep that and show it to Sophie, if you haven't already. I'll be done on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, and can't wait!

Kara -- How did all the painting go? Are the kids almost done with school or do they finish up in June? How's your headache today?

Lainie -- Happy belated anniversary! Did you and Brian get to go out to dinner or do something special? }( Hope so! How is all the house stuff coming along? What did you end up getting at Loft the other day? They're having a 20% off today . . . very dangerous indeed!

Tneah -- I was up early with you today!:) Isn't it awful to not be able to sleep in on the weekends?! Be careful with Imax 3 today and your hip!

Shelley, WTH? You scaled that wall? Or rather, I am assuming there are stairs somewhere, my quads and arse burn just looking at this!
BTW, I just read your post about daughters, and need a box of Kleenex now, it really was beautiful, I often wonder what my life would have been like if I had children since I love them so much. I never really knew my mom, but would like to think she would have thought those things about me.Ah shucks, now I really need a tissue....Anyway!

So I just did Imax3..sheesh, is all I can say. The two moves I had troubles with are the plie jumping jacks, I cannot quite get the heels together on that one, and the one where you do jumping jacks onto the step...way too dangerous for my clumsy butt to attempt so I did that "football tire shuffle" on the step instead. I think I like Imax 2 better, the music is more fun, I detest that horrid "Human Nature" song by Micheal Jackson that is played at the beginning of Imax3, almost enough to turn it off!}(

Off to walk the dog and pack for our little excursion tonight.
:7

Dang, Shelley, that's nuts that you ran the stairs up that thing! It's HUGE! You seriously have legs of steel!

Tneah -- Is the Cher concert tonight? Is that what you're packing for? Will you and DH be able to get a nice night away? Hope so!}( Sounds like you did some good modifications for Imax3!

Leanne! So happy to see you today, we missed you terribly the past few days. Your post sounded "tired", so I am prescribing a restful day for you, tomorrow as well. Serious biz, take some me time okay?:)

Yep, we are going to spend the night at Bellagio and walk over to Ceasers to see Cher tonight. Should be a hoot and a holler for sure.:7

Back to add one more thing, so I weighed myself this AM. I am only one pound away from my lowest weight during the program. My theory about intense weight training is holding true. When I train hard and heavy, I hold onto at least three extra pounds. This week as been all about circuits? I weigh 3 pounds less. There ya have it. Basically I gain and lose the same darn 3-5 pounds seemingly on a weekly basis, therefore I refuse to get upset ever again about the scale. :+

Tneah -- You're such a sweetie, Ms. Awesome Ad Writer! I've missed our Melty group the past few days, too! :) You're right -- I've been feeling exhausted this past week, and hope to relax all weekend long. Tonight DH is going out for guys' night out, and I have that movie 27 Dresses to watch (a nice chick flick!). I'm just going to kick my feet up and relax! Oh, and I forgot to tell you that I ordered the first book (Bitter Is the New Black) by that author you recommended, so I might start reading it once I'm done cleaning house. I can't wait! Thanks for the good recommendation!:) That's so fantastic that you've been losing weight, but I'm also glad to hear that you won't let those dang 3-5 pounds worry you anymore! We need to all toss out our scales -- we keep saying it, but we really need to do it!:) Sounds like you have a wonderful evening planned with DH! I hope you two have a fantastic time -- and treat yourself during dinner to something scrumptious and tasty!;-) ETA: I just saw the other book you mentioned on the OD forum! It looks great!

Shelley -- I forgot to ask you earlier if anyone had claimed those Powerstrike DVD's. If not, do you really want to part with them? I've been wanting to try one out for awhile, but hate to cough up so much money if I'm not sure what the workout is like.:)

Afternoon all!

Deb, I like the name Keegan. It sounds like a good name for the puppy to learn too, with the "K" sound. Yes, I'm lucky my DH cleans toilets, but he never seems to finish the job. He cleaned the bathrooms this morning, but left a toilet brush in one room, and the bucket of cleaning supplies is still sitting in the other.

Jennifer, there were Highland Games near the town where we first lived when we got married. I never made it, but always wanted to. Muscular men in skirts sounds like fun!

Tneah, have fun on your night out. I'm not crazy about Cher, but I bet her show is great.

Shelley, it's great to hear you are in a good mood. Steps up the escarpment must be killer. I loved the movie. I think Tina Fey is brilliant.

Leanne, let me know what you think of the movie. It is on my list. I don't think we'll get on our hike tomorrow. The forecast is for showers all day.

So far, today has been very nice. I got outside and finally made a small dent in the yardwork this morning. DD and DH went to graduation this afternoon, so I had a nice quiet house to wallow in. I did In The Ring and finished a book a friend loaned me. The book, Blood and Honor, is a small memoir about a German boy who was raised by Baptist parents, who became a Hitler youth. What a heart wrenching story it was! I need to start my new Jimmy Buffett book now, for a light hearted story. We are going out to dinner at a friend's house. Yay, I love not cooking on the weekend.

Hello Melters.

Tneah-I used to own CherFitness with Keli Roberts. I got my original Step from them though Cher. Great music and great workout.

Insect update: The creeps were coming through a light from the ceiling so I turned it on and most of them baked then I had to use pesticide to get rid of the rest. They entered through my attic in that room, my living room used to be a garage.

Going to try LM in a few since my MM got shortened.

Hello, all you Melters -

I'm about ready to hit the job search but wanted to say hi first. Yesterday I did Low Max but had a hard time getting into it for some reason. And if my heart isn't in that one, it's way too easy to slack off. Oh well.

I've decided not to do the Gauntlet today. This is my vacation week. I'll go to work tomorrow and Tuesday and then be off through Memorial Day. So I decided to make up a schedule of all the workouts I really love. Gauntlet will be next week!

Last night we went to my niece's 1-year birthday. She's so cute. We went out onto the deck afterwards, and my sister's kids got into a water gun fight. They decided that we adults were fair game. So of course Aunt Shannon grabbed a gun and took off after them. It was fun!

The hip is better. It comes and goes, and hopefully it's gone for a while.

Deb - I'm so glad you got to enjoy a nice, long weekend!

Jen - I love Saturdays too. I hope those pesky bugs are GONE.

Tneah - Ahhh, 5 a.m. That's sleeping in, girl! :p So, have you thrown that scale away yet? I fluctuate too, but always stay in the same range. I might get on the scale once a month if I think about it. I'm glad you made it through Imax 3 - good job on the modifications! And I despise that Michael Jackson song too! Sometimes I avoid Imax 3 just so I won't have to listen to it.

Shelley - ooooh, the escarpment!! That's a great picture. I remember those lovely stairs. Did you run up ALL of them or did you have to slow down a bit? If I ever visit again, I want to run with you.

Leanne - YAY! All the essays are graded! Now you can relax. Whew. My work has slowed down for now. We'll see what happens when I get back. My work seems to come in "boom or bust" cycles.

Robin - your Saturday sounds lovely! I'm glad you got to enjoy a peaceful house.

Goodmorning all. We had a nice time at our friend's last night. Now I have oven envy at their new appliance. Mine will have to die a horrible death before DH will replace it. If and when I get a new stove, ease of cleaning will be priority one. Mine is 28 years old and looks every minute of it.

I'm taking a day off today, I think. My thighs and lower back are killing me. I had hoped to go for a hike after church, but the weather isn't cooperating. Maybe I'll sneak out to the mall and look for a dress. All Tneah's dress shopping has gotten to me.

Shannon, nice to see you over the weekend. Hope you have a wonderful vacation. I'm off next Wed, but then work straight through until the following Friday. BUT, then I'll be on vacation for 12 days!

I better go get ready for church. Later all. Oh, and today is Fellowship Luncheon. Sigh. It's soooo hard to avoid all that yummy church lady food.

Wow, this is my first stop here all weekend. We were pretty busy yesterday. The builders came back to put up more siding. It was T-ball picture day so we all went to take Isaac to that. After that we had to go straight to his T-ball game. Later we also went to Home Depot and Target. I also managed to get a sunburn. x( I am going to the dermatologist on Wednesday and I dread being scolded for my idiocy. I am pretty pale and sensitive and she has already commanded me to wear my sunscreen. At least I was wearing 45 SPF on my face, so it's o.k., but my arms and my hair part are red.

No workout yesterday because we were so busy--not sure what I'll do today yet. I'll start my new Pilates/yoga and circuits rotation tomorrow.

OK, let me see if I can catch up with ya'll a bit.

Robin, ooh, I got a dress the other day myself. I actually took back that one I bought that I wasn't sure if Brian would like--because he didn't like it. It was the pattern he didn't like--he's rather conservative about patterns. So I got a plain blue one instead.
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/lainiefig/215718_1363.jpg

Shannon, good luck with the job search.

Jennifer, hope the bugs are gone for good. So, how far south are you thinking of going?

Tneah, I guess those pounds with weight training are just muscle, anyway, right? I'm glad you are liking the circuits, since I'm about to start doing a lot of those again. How was Cher? When I was in choir in high school I did a Cher solo for a concert--the Shoop Shoop song ("Does he love me, I wanna know...it's in his kiss...etc.") I got the solo because I sounded the most like Cher. It ended up becoming a comedy thing, though, so I didn't sing a whole lot. We had guys in drag come up and take over singing.... It was very hard to keep singing when they arrived on stage. I can still belt out the chorus in a pretty Cher-like way. I wish you were coming to the RT so I could sing it for ya. ;)

Leanne, we didn't do much for our anniversary...we rarely go out. We have been too busy doing other stuff. We had quality time together, though. ;) And we're getting this home makeover. Well, I got that dress above at the Loft, plus a couple shirts, my favorite being a navy blue with tiny white polka dots girly blouse that I wear over a navy blue lacy camisole. I also ordered a couple things online, like a navy blue cap sleeve sweater with a bow on front. I'm going very feminine this spring--maybe that's a trend since there's a lot of it at the Loft now. I also ordered a pair of their white cargo pants. Oh, as for Amy, I actually like her ASC2 better than the original and even more than her kickboxing. Just in case you needed to know about ASC2, though you didn't mention that exactly. I am a big happy stepper, though (except for my injury issues). I am definitely going to preorder ASC3.

Shelley, wow, I bow to your escarpment-stair-climbing-ability. You rock!

Deb, how was the play yesterday? What's up today?

OK, gotta go spend time with the hubby before he leaves town this afternoon (he'll be gone until Thursday so I will probably be around a lot more this week).

Good Morning Melters!

I got a late start posting, as I have been doing laundry etc. I did S&H legs and Christie Taylor abs from Get up & Dance DVD. I felt these when I did them last week, hopefully they are working!

We heard from the breeder last night.. she told us that she has it down to one puppy, and maybe another..but she is pretty sure of the one.. It's the one they call "Keegan"! I knew there was something special about that one.. I have had his picure as a link on my desktop for 3 weeks!

Jennifer:
Glad you got the bugs out! What type of job are you looking for? I love Saturdays too! We had a demonstration of sheep herding and that pole throwing thing at our local Scottish festival. I also have that step tape with Cher and Keli Roberts!

Tneah:
I have visions of you lounging around the hotel room, getting room service for breakfast! How was Cher?

Shelly:
Wow you ran up those steps after running 6 miles? you are our energizer bunny! I'd love to see a pic of the haircut..please, please post one! LOved the daughter post..made me think of my Mom and her last days with me, giving me advice on marriage.

Leanne:
800 graded essays! How many people do you have doing this horrible task? Yes the play was about Picasso, but a fictional tale. It was pretty good. No Amy workouts for me..

Robin:
Yep..sounds like how a man would clean! Glad you had a nice dinner with friends last night. I have "oven envy" too! Hope you can resist some of the church lady food!

Shannon:
So you were the only adult that joined the kids in the water gun war?:) Good for you!

Have a great day!

Deb

Edited since Deb, Lainie, and I were posting at the same time!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I'm so tired and dragging today. I ended up staying up until midnight reading (which is WAAAAY past my usual 9:30 bedtime), and then got up at my usual 5:30 this morning. DH went out with the guys last night and stayed the night at his buddy's house so he could be close to work; he's going in to work today to play video games all day with his students. They have their "gaming parties" where they play XBox and order pizza and hang out all day. So I have the house to myself again all day. I'll try to finish my book and then today is S&H Chest/Back.

Shannon -- Sounds like you had a blast yesterday at your niece's b-day party! You're still a kid at heart!:) How great that you'll be on vacation this week. Do you have any special plans or will you just be relaxing and taking it easy? I know what you mean about Low Max -- it's too easy to slack off with that one. Good luck job searching today!

Robin -- Yes, since you can't go hiking today with that rainy weather, some dress shopping is just what you need!:) Are your thighs and back sore from yesterday's workout? Sounds like taking the day off is a good idea! I watched _27 Dresses_ last night, and it was cute and better than I thought it would be. I'd recommend it for some light-hearted fun! Have you started your new Jimmy Buffet book? And hooray for your vacation coming up! What will you be doing?

Jennifer -- Be careful doing LM today! Is your ankle back to normal? Glad you took care of those insects. Will trying to find a new job and place to live be difficult? You've been at your current position for a long time, right? Hope it all goes well!

Lainie -- Thanks for the good info about ASCII! I think that I will go ahead and pre-order her new one. That dress you ordered is just adorable! Yes, I love all the cute little feminine things that they've had at Loft lately. I need to do some shopping, and may do that this week once I finish up and I'm on break. Glad you and Brian had a nice night together!

Deb -- Ah, it sounds like it really was meant to be that you get Keegan! I'm sending my positive vibes your way that he's the one that becomes your new little guy! For our grading session, we have the entire full-time English department come in (about 25 people, but some are on sabbatical) and then any adjuncts who are teaching this particular class. So I think we had about 40 people grading.

Kara -- Hope you're having a good weekend!

Tneah -- How was Cher last night? Hope you had a blast! Did you get a nice dinner beforehand? And was it a "wig night"?}(

Afternoon all. Well, DH and I went shopping and I found two dresses!
I tried to find pictures on-line, but, alas, was unsuccessful. One is sort of a black on white sleeveless sheath with a black ribbon belt. The other is a black short sleeve shirt waist dress with pretty black and rhinestone buttons and a black tie belt.

Lainie and Leanne, I'm planning on getting ASC3 too. I really like ASC2. I'll be on vacation on the 1st, when you can preorder without shipping charges, so I'm counting on my DD ordering it for me.

Leanne, yes, I'm sore from workouts. Seems the older I get, the more aches and pains I get after exercise. I haven't started a book yet, but am planning on The Zookeeper's Wife next. I got it at the library, so I want to read it before Buffett. We are leaving on May 31 for Spokane, where we will meet up with my sister Kim and her DH, Chris. The four of us are going to spend a week in Yellowstone, hiking and animal watching. I was there about 25 years ago and only for a day. DH has never been there. I'm excited.

Lainie, it's hard to remember the sun screen this time of year. I remember getting pink at some of my DD's sporting events when she was in high school.

Deb, yay for Keegan!

Well, I didn't do very well avoiding the not-so-clean food at church. And the desserts! Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I'm having salad tonight instead of pizza.

Hey guys...

Well, Cher was incredible! Did you know that she is only 5'2? She of course had a fantastic "Cirque" like show. I am not fond of her songs except "Do you believe in life after love"...everyone went ape when she belted that one out. She changed costumes all designed by her friend Bob Mackie 14 times during the show.
Clive Owens the music guy--he "discovered" Diana Ross, and Dick Clark who was in a wheelchair sat right by us! Cool. I would not have recognized either of them, a lady behind me told me.

We played blackjack (and lost) and some drunk guy kept leaning over and whispering to me about my "nice rack" and other crap.x( Dumbarse.

Then as we walked into the hotel, both of my crowns popped right on off! So there I was toothless, I went into the bathroom and put them back on and called my dentist, will go see him tomorrow. He calls me his "problem child". I have bad dental karma.

Sadly, it wasn't a "wig night", by the time we got back to the room and ordered something to eat it was 2am...we basically looked at each other, laughed and fell right to sleep.:7 Ahhh, romantic. So all in all, a good time at Cher, but the rest of the excursion coulda been better, but we just laughed about it this morning and came home.:)

Lainie, loving that dress! DH is not fond of prints either, I have not shown him the print dress I bought yet, and do not intend on showing him. Some things are best left "unshown".;) Glad you will be around more this week!

Jennifer, LOL at the Cher workout! She still looks super hot, 63 years old!

Shannon, good to see you around girlie. The water fight sounds like so much fun! I wannna do it too.:) Kids keep ya young.

Robin, oh goodie, you are going dress shopping! Do not give up, you will find one I promise, if I can, anyone can!

Deb, yippee! Cannot wait for you guys to finally get your little pup!

Leanne, sounds like such a nice relaxing day for you.:) Are you doing another slow and heavy rotation? I woke up at my usual 6am this morning, looked at myself in the mirror and went straight back to bed for another two hours, plus I might nap right now!

I ate ok, well I had french onion soup last night with some bread for dinner.:9 Also indulged in some white wine, not too much, I felt fine this morning...again, I think one of these times, I just will not drink it at all, it always disappoints, I think I am just programmmed to order it when I am out! I did wake up feeling like a bloat machine, the soup was super salty.

Today is a rest day, so bye bye guys, see ya'll tomorrow!:7
