iTrain vs. cardio coach??

ITrain tells you what speeds to use according to wether you are a walker, jogger or runner. Ofcourse you can further adjust them to your liking but I like having that baseline # to start out with.

Cardio Coach is all about perceived exertion so you have to gauge for yourself what speed to use.

ITrain sells separate work outs for the Treadmill, the elliptical, outdoor walking/jogging/running, etc.

Cardio Coaches work outs are meant for any machine or for outdooring running/jogging/walking.

These are just some facts. It may help you to make a decison. :)

Oh, Belinda...those that know me know I will tell you iTrain workouts ROCK!!!!!!!! I'm a dedicated iTrain ADVOCATE! lol

DITTO! I was trying to be fair though which is why I just gave the facts!:p

I MUCH prefer iTrain. I don't do well with the whole "perceived exertion" thing. I like for someone to tell me what speed or resistance to go at (and then I modify higher or lower depending on how I feel). I like the iTrain music better too.

Like the above posters said, iTrain also has specific workouts for ellipticals, treadmills, stretching, etc. I like that they alter the workouts to better suite which machine you're using.

Gayle,

Do you have to have an MP3 player to download the iTrain workouts? Can you put them on a CD and use them in a player instead? I don't have an MP3 player or Ipod. :(

Once you buy an ITrain work out and download it on to your computer you can do anything you want with it so yes, you can rip it on to a cd if you want. :)

That's good news...have you done that before? I wonder if the quality is as good that way. I like walking/running on the TM for cardio, so this would come in very handy.

I've never ripped an ITrain work out onto a CD but have made my own music mixes on a CD from Itunes or other CDs I have. I see no issues at all with the quality. HTH. :)

Michele-----:p :p :p

LOL Just kidding, of course!

Reese-I burn all my iTrain workouts to CD before synching to my mp3 player. I've used the discs on my stereo and the quality is just fine.

Hi,

Another I-Train maniac here! I like all of the I-Trains I have. The good thing is that most can be used for walking, jogging, or running. I am a walker, sometimes I like to add a little jogging. I would start with a 30 minute one. You can always stop sooner, but will have a good 30 minute workout. Set 21 is one of my favorites.

Deb:)

Hi,

Actually, now that I went back to the site and looked, set 21 is all walking intervals, so you may want to do a different one that has walking, jogging and running. If you can jog for 30 minutes, you can do any of the I-Trains that have these 3 levels. What they do is keep all 3 paces going at the same time. Sometimes the walking pace is too fast for me, so I go down a percentage or 2, then keep at that level. What is great about these is that you can work at your own pace, the pace that they give is "only a guideline" as they explain on most of them. It also depends on whether you want a flat walk/jog, or inclines for interval training. I love the inclines because I don;t jog for very long. Set 20 has a 30 minute interval workout that takes your pace up .1% every minute, but is all done on flat surface. Did you see how you can read the descriptions and actually hear a little bit of the workout? do this with a couple then just go for it! :7 I am headed off to the basement right now to do theSet 5, 40 minute one.

Like the other poster said...just read the descriptions and pick one that sounds good. It really doesn't matter as you can adjust it to your level if it's too difficult for you. Basically your biggest decision is if you want lots of hills or not! }(

I just wanted to add in here, also....the 60 minute workouts are a great one too, no matter HOW LONG you're currently walking/running. The 60 minute workouts are actually broken down into 2-30 minute workouts, so there's a nice easy transition if you're stopping at the 30 minute mark! It's like getting 2 workouts for the price of one!

another vote for itrain!!! extremely motivating and like others said she gives different numbers to tailor to your level.

enjoy!!

iTrain does nothing for me even though I had high hopes it would. I cannot stand that Grace Lazenby and I really don't care for the music (I'm not a Top 40 pop kinda music listener). Also, with all their workouts I am never sure which works best for the elliptical. Coach Sean is easy to follow, is encouraging, and the music fits the pace. So, I have to join that Cardio Queen Michele and agree about Coach Sean and his abilities to get us chickies to take our ellipticizing to new heights
