is Zumba confusing?

i find it difficult to follow a step class so i wonder if i will also have difficulty following Zumba. i joined a gym for more variety in cardio. i found the Spinning class kinda boring and one of the moves not safe for the knees.
thanks

I found zumba very confusing. I'm very athletic not fancy. However.. I kept up, did my own thing.. Trust me, everyone is looking at their own self.. I sweat like crazy and feel very worked out after zumba! Great for core, cardio and fun! I have to ad... I don't have a huge frustration problem, I keep moving just to have a good workout. If you are easily frustrated you will find it very confusing.

I saw a lot of variety in skills in Zumba class but everyone was sweating and working hard. The class I went to was pretty repetitive so you have time to pick up the moves and overall, the moves are not hard or long in sequence.

I think you may surprise yourself! Just have fun and don't worry about making mistakes.

sounds fun! i am excited to try it but just realized i will have to wait a month+ because of all the arm movements which i cannot do til i get over my minor shoulder surgery.before the s i could lift 0 pds-now 2!

I started taking a Zumba class 3 weeks ago. The first night, my friend was not able to make it, so I was brave and tried it myself. The class was full, and it seemed like a lot of the class members knew each other, so I just stayed in the back. Well, what I didn't know was that after each song, the lines rotate. So, I found myself moving closer and closer to the front. It wasn't bad at all. I met some people, and I had a great workout. There were people of all ages, so it was very motivating to see 60-year old women moving and grooving even more than I was (by the way, I am NOT a dancer!!!!!!). It's a fun class, and like another poster said, it doesn't matter what you look like. No one is looking at you. Give it a try. The music is great, and you will sweat:cool:.

I just loooooove it because it's just a hip-shakin' dancefest. I find that the difficulty varies a lot from instructor to instructor. But there's also a strong vibe of just do your own thing - more so than in other classes. I say try a few. If you like to dance, you'll like it.

I absolutely love Zumba. I started taking one class a week about four months ago. I love the rhythms, beat and energy of the class. The only two rules in our class is keep moving and have fun. There are all ages in my group from as young as 14 to as old as 70. All doing thier own thing and loving it. I'm now doing a zumba express (30 min) class followed by a fitclub class (sort of a bootcamp). I love the results.

Give it a try. You need no previous dance experience and believe me it does not matter what you look like. No one is looking. So jiggle...:p
