IS this progress? What do you think?

I'm trying to drop, oh, ten pounds? Not sure of my exact ideal weight, but I know I've got at least SOME chunk to chuck, lol! I've been eating pretty darn clean for at least four weeks, since I read Tosca Reno's book, and I've been working out again for the last two months, with a bad week thrown in twice while family visited.

I weigh myself Sunday mornings, right after getting out of bed. Last Sunday I was down a pound from two weeks prior, and THIS morning I was down 1/2 a pound from last week.

Am I losing weight or are these just fake-out fluctuations? I know it's probably too soon to tell, but I just wish these increments were LARGER--it would do so much good for my motivation. But only 1.5 pounds in three weeks has me wondering "am I stuck? Am I plateauing? Will I see those three pounds back again next week?"

Argh!

I've heard it said that a weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week is healthy. What do you think--when one is within 10 pounds of his or her goal weight, can the weight loss per week slow down to half a pound?

Anyone have any experience to share with me?

And HELLO to all you lurkers you read this and don't have time to respond or aren't sure what to say--I know you're out there 'cause I'm a "lurker" too! I mean this very good-naturedly! :D

Well, as long as you are going down, and not up, you are obviously doing something right.

Maybe your body is trying to hold on to those 10 pounds that you want to lose.

I don't really know the answer, hopefully someone else here will, but I just wanted to say hang in there!

Yes, I think that some people, especially those who don't have much to lose, can lose it at a slower rate.

I wanted to lose oh, 5 to 7 pounds a while back, hoping it would come off of my thighs. I cleaned up my diet, following a modified version of the Eat to Live plan. It took FOREVER for me to lose, and like you, I probably averaged a half pound a week, sometimes even less. It finally did come off.

Of course, it's back on now... I'm pretty sure I was fighting my natural setpoint, and it just wasn't worth the effort. x(

Yup--it's mainly my thighs (lower half in general) that's holding on the rest of the fat. And a little mommy pooch. (If it was my boobs, I'd leave it! lol)

I think it's normal, and I think you're prob actually losing, not just fluctuating, because it seems to be consistent. When I first started to seriously lose weight, I lost 3 lbs the 1st wk and now btwn 1/2 and 1 1/2 lbs a week. But I also have way more than 10lbs to lose.

Also, its easier to lose weight when your heavier. If you are big enough that it takes 3000 cals to just sustain you and you cut back to 1500 a day, thats a much bigger difference than if you are smaller and only need 1800 cals a day and cut back to the same 1500. (never go below 1200 or you'll seriously mess up your metabolism) but in this case, the bigger person would be losing weight like *zoom* at the bigging and the small person would be losing slower. However as the bigger person gets smaller, the weight lose will slow down. Make sense????

I'm guessing that if you only have 10lbs to lose, you're on the smaller side of the equation. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. You didn't wake up one morning 10 lbs heavier and you're not going to wake up tomorrow 10 lbs lighter. Keep at it!!! It'll happen
