Is there a Physical Therapist out there?

I am going to pt twice a week for achilles tendonitis and there are four therapist and one asst. therapist. I see a different one everytime I go and when I ask questions I am given different answers for each one. Each one massages in different ways, some are gentle and some pure hurt! It seems to be very inconsistent and I am hoping it is not keeping my foot from healing. I tell them my problems I have during the week with my foot and they tell me that they are doing all they can do and there is nothing else that they can do. One told me that sometimes pt can keep a foot from healing. Is this true? And they are also keeping me from riding my stationary bike because they said it is not good for it. I thought that is the one thing I could do.

Please if someone could tell me what I should do. Should I just continue with what I'm doing or talk with my doctor?

I welcome any advice or knowledge of this!

Not a PT, but have had PT numerous times. I find it odd that you aren't seeing the same one each time. I would see if you can find one you like and see them each time.

I'd also ask your dr. the questions.

Hopefully a PT can chime in with expert answers, too.

Kim,
My DH is a PT and a pretty darn good one (if I do say so myself). I'll have him PM you or reply to this sometime tonight!

Colleen I also wondered why I would see a different one each time. I even ask one that I would only like to schedule with her so she would know information from my last visit.Well that happened for 4 visits and I scheduled another one with her and I came in and got the asst. pt. There was not explanation at all. She was busy with someone else. I pay money to these people and I feel they don't know what the heck is going on! I went to a pt 4 years ago with tendonitis in my wrist and I saw the same pt everytime at another place. Wanted to go to the same place but was far for me to travel every week.

Yes I hope a pt will come in here and shed some light on things!

Carolyn that would be great! That would really ease my mind if he could give me some information and point me in the right direction.

I look forward to his PM!

Thanks,

kim

Anyone can find a good physical therapist near them by going to the site for the American Physical Therapy Association at www.apta.org.
Click on the "Find a PT" database search at the top right of the page, you can search via zipcode.
