Is Rehab Trendy?

So, indulge me for a sec people. I know some of you hate Hollywood discussions, but I can't help but notice that about every other day someone is in rehab. Just plop down a zillion dollars, hit the posh recovery retreat, and voila. Is this a publicity stunt? Is this TMI that just got discovered? At least these are my initial thoughts and impressions.

Granted, I know there are tons and tons of everyday people that go to rehab clinics day in and day out, but we don't here about all of those stories. Maybe some of those stories (if people were willing) might be more motivational on the general public trying to get well. I mean, who ordinarily can treat their disorders to what these stars can? Anyhoo, 'scuss 'scuss & just keep it nice. All opinions welcome.

I'm not gaining weight. I'm retaining food.

I guess I feel it's like charity, it should be done very quietly with as few people knowing as is possible. My Dad gained control over his addictions through AA so I'm much more inclined to have faith in the long and steady road to recovery that keeps it on the down low. I do kinda think that rehab has become trendy.

Interesting topic.

It wasn't trendy when I went through in 1980. When you really hit the "bottom", you wouldn't take it lightly either. This celebrity stuff is just another BS way of staying in the spotlight.

I agree with Dave...I think that MOST (and I say most because I am sure there are some celebrities that genuinely WANT the help) do it for publicity purposes...i.e. Lindsay Lohan & company.

I think it is just a way for them to keep getting jobs. From what I hear, 30 days is not enough time to become "fixed". Plus don't they tell you to change your bad influence friends and stay away from bars and stuff? I believe Lohan was in a bar the day after she got out.
