Is physical trainer necessary?

i am joining 24 hour fitness because the only cardio i can do is swim laps and aqua aerobics. after a p9ox rotation i'll switch to machines. should i bother with a pt? in the past i used them to help give me a tour and show how to use the machines but i don't want to spend all that money. it will take me longer to tour by myself.

The gym staff should give you a tour and show you how to use the machines. You shouldn't have to hire a PT to do that.

I think it depends on the individual. If you are self motivated and knowledgeable about workout programs and how to use the machines, I doubt you need one.

Having said that my friend got the best results from a personal trainer. She works out with a friend and the PT trains both of them at the same time. They split the cost of the session so it's cheaper.

I don't think you need one; I'll bet your home-X program has already given you a good grounding in the basics of training.

I agree that if you can do PX90 at home, you don't need a trainer unless you need motivation.

I interviewed at 24 Hour Fitness and their "training" program that the PTs go through is absurd.

I joined recently and watched a trainer with a client and I was flabbergasted at a shoulder exercise she was instructing the client to do. And, the trainer was doing the exercise along with the client, so when the weights got too heavy for the client, she had to quickly drop HER weights to help her. ??????

i think i'm first going to go thru all the machines myself and see how it goes. my reason for using the machines is that i cannot lift any weights standing up and it would be a change of pace.
thanks for the help
