Is it really that funny???

ROTFLMAO, Marla!!! That is too funny! I saw the date of your Vegan post, and then I saw you post here, and I see that it was really an accident, too friggin' hilarious! (or it is a very well-divised plan! }( }( }( )

I don't eat meat, fish, dairy or eggs (MY choice for MY health)....I am not animal rights activist or a Peta supporter for MY own reasons, but I do believe we could use some reform in our treatment of animals we use for food. I also don't think anyone is telling you how to eat or shoving anything down your throat. If you feel that way, maybe you should rethink "why" you are feeling that way. No one is telling you how to live.

I just read the big egg controversy and agree the post was out of line and upseting to me as well....but an apology was made. End of story.

JMO,
Robin

Carolyn, I can absolutely empathize with you. I think that we have all been hurt by other's comments, intentionally and most often unintentionally, and we have hurt others as well without meaning to (I know I sure have!). I get made fun of REGULARLY by my BF's DH and my step-dad because I choose not to eat meat and most dairy products, and to them it is all funny but inside I am crying because they will get in my face and take big, loud bites of burgers or steaks. You know what sucks?, if I say anything to them about how it makes me feel they will rub it in even more.

I didn't read the <--- thread until I read your post, and I have to tell you that I do completely understand what you are seeing and feeling about it. I just don't think that those who commented see it the way that you do, you know? Not that one way is right or wrong, it's just a different viewpoint. You feel so passionately about it, and I completely understand how you could be feeling right about now about comments that seem so indifferent.

There is always going to be someone who disagrees with or makes fun of our choices and our passions, and there will always be things that we see that will hurt our hearts and there will be nothing that we can do about it as hard as that is to say. I feel the same way about seeing parents smoking with their kids in the backseat. As much is it infuriates me, there is nada that I can do about it. ;( Ok, I think that I may have gotten way off course here...

((((((HUGS))))))

and don't EVER apoligize for how you feel!!!!

Carolyn,
I'm with Michele...I don't believe the light egg banter was intentionally meant to hurt anyone... only to let off a little tension that may still be in the air. The posted link was definitely horrific and still on people's minds. Oddly, it's so much easier to deal with horror by laughing or joking about it. It's simply a defense mechanism ("human nature"). I really do hope you are feeling better today.

Cyberhugs,
Robin:)

Hi everyone-

Just returned from a day out of town & read all the fall out over Kathryn's egg post & the egg "banter" on <--- thread. WOW! I know no one, including myself, intended any hurt feelings from the postings on <---. And I certainly don't believe Kathryn posted her link w/the intention of outraging anyone. We're all our "own person" here. Wouldn't life be boring if we were clones?

Hope all is at peace in Catheland and everyone will continue to post.

BTW: I've been puking my guts out all night & it is from eating pizza! Learned my lesson - no more cheating on the clean eating.:)

Of course, Kathryn had no intention of outraging anyone. Anyone who knows absolutely anything about Kathryn should know that.

I think everyone will:)

Does that mean you can't drink the secret formula for getting taller?...hehehe.}(

I do hope you feel better, shortie.

Robin:)

I have seen Kathryn post more than one snide comment. One just recently that was aimed at me. I just don't think she's a person that is aware of how her comments come across so I let it go. I know from experience that some people are just not sensitive in that way.

Also, I don't think anyone here knows absolutely anything about anybody on this forum except for what's exposed through their words.

Isn't that odd....I've only seen mostly posts of helpfulness emanating from Kathryn. Even in the posts where she is crushed for "policing the forums" I found she was only trying to be helpful trying to maintain the proper order to the forums. In the big "TLT DVD scandal" she wanted to discuss the DVDs with Claudia ("I love TLTs") and gently point out that she felt confined discussing them there because it wasn't the proper place. She was "cornered" into explaining herself. Really "read" her response....there wasn't anything insensitive in it. It was a totally honest response from someone who was just cut down for doing what she deemed was correct. I honestly believe she was hurt in that encounter, but she never said a word.

>Also, I don't think anyone here knows absolutely anything

Writing is a one dimensional medium and leaves much of the interpretation of that medium up to the reader and the skills of the communicator. What I've always seen through Kathryn's words are a willingness to share her wealth of knowledge to anyone who asks for help. Time and time again, she shares information with all of us on diet and fitness...and we've all benefited. I know if I have ever have a question on how to develop a certain muscle in my body or on form; she definitely would be one of the first people I would ask. This alone should show you what a sharing, giving person she is....Yes, this caring, helpful attitude is exposed through her written words.

There are times our posts don't come out exactly the way we would like them to be interpreted (I'm sure this has happened to you)...Is it fair to "hang" a person for it for an occasional misspoken or misinterpreted word?

In fact, I can remember a few posts written by you "I interpreted" as pretty insensitive, but I decided not pursue. "I thought maybe you just weren't aware of how your comment was coming across so I just let it go."...sounds like really good reasoning to me.

Just my thoughts,
Robin

Carolyn, like Shannon said, this is the type of behavior that made me leave the forum. Let me just tell you your post really encouraged me to come back. Yes, there are some people here who will judge you for your opinions. Just remember they are merely a speck of dust in your universe, & that there are many other supportive, informative & kind women here. :)

Robin,

Human nature being what it is, all people have their own motivations for doing what they do and saying what they say. Snide, self important people just bring out the worst in me I guess.
