Is it possible to gain muscle if you work 1 body part per week?

I only have 60 minutes,5 days a week to exercise. I want to build some muscle in my glutes and upper body. I feel I have to do 60 minute intense video at least 3 days a week to maintain my weight. To do a total body weight workout(legs, upper body and abs) takes almost 2 hours. I was wondering if breaking up lower body and upper body into an hour each would lend any results, or just barely maintain.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Hi Rhiannon! Oh most definitely you would get results, PLUS, the extra lean muscle mass that you build will boost your metabolism and assist in body fat loss.

Here is a quick breakdown suggestion:

Upper Body:
(one hour and 6 minutes with warm up and stretch included)

3 minute warm up
15 minutes/chest
15 minutes/back
15 minutes/triceps
15 minutes/biceps
3 minute stretch

Lower Body/Core/and one upper body
(one hour and 6 minutes with warm up and stretch included)

3 minute warm up
15 minutes/shoulder
20 minutes/standing legs
18 minutes/floorwork legs
7 minutes abs/core
3 minute stretch

This is just one suggestion. You could break it down in other ways too, for example, so that you favor a longer leg workout and shorter upper body segments. Or you can alternate, so that one week favors longer upper body, another week favors longer lower body. You can also play around with the time spent on core.

Just some ideas. Good Luck!
