Is anybody NOT having trouble???

Cathlete
Laura's (aka Maximus) post about having trouble getting started again after the Road Trip got me wondering...why is it that I'm not having trouble?

I think it's pretty simple, really. Hearing all you guys talk about your Pre Road Trip training made me realize I didn't do anything special, in fact, I took some steps backwards in the few weeks leading up to the trip. Needless to say that I am carrying a few extra pounds than I should be.

Anyway...long story short...the Road Trip has kicked my butt into HIGH GEAR. And seeing all of you fit and STRONG women too! I worked out, of course, at the Road Trip Saturday and Sunday, and haven't stopped since. I've increased my weights for all weight work also:

Monday was Rhythmic Step.
Tuesday was Gym Style Legs.
Wednesday was Gym Style Chest & Triceps followed by All STep (from CTX).
Thursday was Gym Style Back, Shoulders & Biceps followed again by All Step.
Friday is scheduled either Gym Style Legs or PLB, followed by Step Blast.

Anybody else using the Road Trip as a catapult forward???

Gayle

I'm with you Gayle!! :)

Monday was Tae Bo and Low Max
Tuesday was 90 minute cardio combo from SB/SJP
Wed was GS Chest/Tris and Imax3
Today was the cardio of Cardio and Weights and IMAX2
Friday: GS Bi/Sh/Back and Rhythmic Step
Saturday: KPC
Sunday: GS Legs

:)

Me too.

Monday - HSTA, core max seg.1, 50 minutes elliptical
Tuesday - SP&J, run 4 miles
Wednwsday - S&H, bi's and tri's, low max
Thursday - HSC, run 3 miles

I'm trying to focus on 2 days of circuit workouts with an extra cardio, then one day of strength training with a Cathe cardio. Cathe said you really have to look for 6-8 weeks to see an impact on your body, and I'm aiming for fat loss right now, but need to keep the strength going too. Just watching everyone really motivated me. I hope I can keep that edge going.

I'm there too.

Monday - Kickmax Bootcamp Challenge
Tuesday - GS BSB and CM #2
Wednesday - Imax 3
Thursday - Bootcamp

I'm going away this weekend for a "relaxing" weekend at the cottage and I brought Kickmax and KPC (since they use no equipment)!

Well, I think I just needed a really good workout to get me back in the swing of things. Wed. night after dragging my lazy a$$ to the gym I had an awesome leg/shoulder workout--I felt really strong. Yesterday I did cardio at the gym, plus bis, back & abs. This morning I did Power Max.

I am back! LOL!

Susan!

Wow, those are some killer combos! I envy you being able to put 90 minutes or more in to a workout, too -- I can only do that on the weekends, for the most part. By the time I set up, do one complete Cathe workout, and add a little extra stretching, I'm usually a bit over an hour and needing to get on to other things. Sigh. :-(

All of you responding to this post are just inspiring me to kick it up even another notch, too. I gotta ponder my schedule and see how I can squeeze out some more workout time somehow. Hmmm.............

Gayle!

You rock, girl! :7 :7 :7 I love your workouts this week! RS is my all-time fave step tape, and I just love love love the Gym Styles. And I love All Step (second only to Step 'n Intervals) from CTX.

I am humbled that you can do Step Blast AFTER PLB or GS Legs. My legs would mutiny on me if I tried that!!

Catapult forward -- what a perfect image for what this trip has done for so many of us!!

Lorrie, awesome week! You're another one who can do these super-long workouts! How do you find the time??? And again, I have to bow down to anyone who can add MORE leg work like running after an intense leg-using tape like HSC or HSTA. YOU ARE ONE STRONG WOMAN!!!!!! :)

Hey, question re: your elliptical. I have one, too (a Precor), and use it alot but am a little bored with it. It's better for my knees than my treadmill but I need to do something to jazz it up. Do you program yours or do anything in particular on it to keep it interesting?

RE: Elliptical

Hi Kathy. I also have a Precor 5.23 and I love it. I really need to program the User ID, but I haven't. I always have to keep one eye and ear on my kids when I'm on it, and to keep up my motivation I read diet and exercise books when I'm working in it. That way I educate myself on all the latest theories (nothing works for everyone) and learn some new exercise concepts as well. (Eg. right now I'm reading the Great American Detox diet - written by the vegan chef girlfriend of the guy who did the movie "Supersize Me". It's so disgusting that it makes me pump it harder.)

Once they come down in price however, my newly coveted machine is the Arc Trainer (did you see the 8 or 10 of them at Cathe's gym!? They're beautiful - and hard!) They currently run about $6,500.00 though, so I'll wait for a bit. I would just say find something to keep your attention on the Precor though. Have fun!

RE: Elliptical

Oh I love the arc trainer--that's what I use when I do cardio at the gym. Nice low impact but high intensity. It makes those stupid ellipticals look like sissy work.

RE: not having trouble

Yep - I'm still riding that road trip high, finding it unbelievable that I actually worked out with Cathe and all my new friends a mere one week ago. And my focus now is on fat loss by trying more circuit training. Today I did Boot Camp (one of my favorites) and hit the elliptical for an hour. But tonight after taking the kids swimming I had some energy to spare and really didn't want to waste it. So I have the Cardio kicks DVD, but had never tried Circuit Max - though many of you said you loved it. WOW! It blew me away. How is it that Cathe can be this amazing?

Hey, Kathy, this may be ridiculously obvious, but have you tried walking on your treadmill? I have several different songs that I use to change my pace and make it more interesting. For example, I do Brown Sugar at 4.0 with an incline of 7, then do Tumbling Dice at 2.4 mph at an incline of 18. (I'm assuming you know these songs because we're the same age. ;-) )

My point is that it really is possible to get a good workout on the treadmill without running. And it's nice to change off between the treadmill and the elliptical to keep things interesting.
