Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jane and I have been doing Cathe workouts for almost 2 years now. I have been lurking on this website for a while now. I started working out in 1999 to Taebo videos and lost 40 pounds in a year. I have kept the weight off and have been working out ever since. I mainly workout to Cathe and Mindy Mylrea videos. I also do some running with bleacher running mixed in. Last month I completed a 4-week bootcamp that was offered locally. It was the first time I have worked out with other people. It was a wonderful experience and very challenging.

I am 44 years old and live in Southwest Georgia. I am orginally from the Chicago area but have lived here for the last 17 years.

I'm happy to be a part of such a wonderful, fit and supportive group.

Nice to have you here Jane! I'd love to hear the details about what you did at Bootcamp! How FUN! Great job on your weighloss and even better for staying consistent to keep it off. Look forward to "seeing" you here.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Debbie-

The bootcamp was great. It was 3 times a week for 4 weeks, 45 minutes a session (I wish it was an hour). It was run by a personal trainer and her brother (an ex-marine). I was pretty nervous as I haven't worked out with a group of people in a long time or a personal trainer before. The ex-marine guy scared the heck out of me. We did a lot of circuit training - things like pushups, squats, situps, etc. In between those circuits we would do cardio such as jumping jacks, jumping rope and mountain climbers (the mountain climbers were easy compared to the terminators in Cathe's bootcamp). Most of the sessions were held indoors in a non-air conditioned warehouse type building. Some sessions were held outside. Once we went to a local high school and ran the bleachers and did tons of walking lunges. Another time we did circuits outside like pulling tires with 25 pound weights in them. Unfortunately I missed the day when they got to do the fireman's obstacle course which consisted of using a sledge hammer and carrying babies (sandbags) through a rope ladder on the ground. I'm going to sign up for another session in July. Our group consisted mostly of women between the ages of 25 - 55. The ex-marine guy wasn't too scary after all and I actually worked out better when he was around. I was able to do 20 pullups with his help! All in all, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. I think it really shocked my system and I worked muscles differently than with ordinary weights.

Thanks Jane!

Wow, that sounds like so much fun even though it was hard work. 20 Pull-ups? You go girl! Thank you so much for all the neat details. I have always wanted to try running bleachers. Is it as hard as it looks? Again, WELCOME and glad you decided to join in!

RE: Thanks Jane!

Running bleachers can be pretty tiring. In boot camp we would run them once or twice in a row and then do walking lunges. We also had to take turns running/walking while holding weights. That was not so much fun. At the track on my own I usually do a circuit type routine where I walk a lap, run a lap and then run up and down the bleachers 3 or 4 times then I repeat it four times. Sometimes I will just run the bleachers up and down 5 times in a row, rest for a 2 or 3 minutes and then do another 5 times in a row. I will usually do this 8 times. I'm a pear so I really need to work my legs to keep them slimmed down. I find that running and also running bleachers helps to keep my legs thinner.

Wow Jane!

You are a power machine! Can't imagine doing that 8X! Whewie! I need to go give running the bleachers a try soon. Thanks for replying to me! You have much to offer here!
