Intervals and NPR and Weightloss

My mom called me on the way home from work and told me about a story she had heard on NPR about how the use of intervals is very helpful for weight loss even for those who are obese and on medications. The intervals are very short and so are the workouts. The high intensity is 8 seconds, the low easy intensity is 12 seconds. Always good to hear interval training is worth the effort, though I'd do it even if it didn't make any significant difference in weight loss, just to keep my cardio interesting. Some days, steady state is too boring.
