Interval Max Support Group Check-In

Cruncholi

Cathlete
I tackled the beast again this week on Thursday on a 6-inch step.
I went all the way through, but my plyo moves are not as deep as they should be toward the end of each interval. I am going to work on that before moving to an 8-inch step.

Anyone else?

BTW: It appears that Cathe and crew have springs in their shoes during that last interval. How the heck do they jump so high? At that point my knees don't even want to bend.

Today is IMAX day! As ususal, once a week on a 10 inch step with max effort on all intervals, but will I EVER get my legs split as wide and my knees as tucked as our Cathe on that dreaded 10th interval :)

Whewwwww....Just finished! Love that work out! This time I really focused on the aerobic sections and realized there are lots of power moves in them that need to be maxed out also...those sections are not just rest, catch your breath and "step up, step down" sections! If you push it, they can really be intense too!!

Hey All :)

I tackled the "beast" yesterday morning and did my usual .. no modifications, adding on the 3 intervals from CTX Step & Intervals to lengthen my workout. I still can't decide after more than two years of this workout if I love it, or loathe it! :)

But isn't the point of interval workouts to rest between the intervals??? That's what makes it an interval! :)

NO~NO~NO!!!

Okay, you guys have been misinformed! You are in no need of a "support group" for Imax, you guys should be the freaking board of directors that people like me come to FOR support! :)

Hello~people like me on a 6" step, modifying 3+ intervals just to make it through the video! :) We could use the benefit of your sage wisdom (aka tricks/how to pointers/etc) to conquer "the beast" as you do! :)
If I NEVER do Imax on an 8" step I'll get over it~but can I please just get through it modification free on a 6" step? Can you, who I have now renamed the "Imax board of directors," just help me and the many like myself that are modifying our a**es off to get through "the beast" each week? :)

Geez, I am in awe of you guys! At least I can be sure there is a light at the end of the tunnel. My Imax day is tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. But I'm a little intimidated to post after you guys! :)

RE: You must be tall....

Hollie - For some reason, I find I need to do my stepping on 10 inch to get my heart rate up - otherwise, the workout is too easy (I'm 5'7", maybe thats why). I do all my step workouts on 10 inch.

Wendy - You're probably right! I make a special effort to really get my heart rate down on the rest sections (deep breathing, etc), but I guess I should watch those aerobic sections to make sure I don't get too high. I just was noticing all the power moves in those aerobic sections yesterday - across the boards, lunges, etc. Thanks for your imput!

Donna - You go girl! We are doing exactly the same thing for our specific bodies, I just have to make certain modifications (10 inch step, pushing the aerobic sections) to get to the same place you are at with IMAX! Believe me, I still can't believe it when this 47 year old body makes it through the whole video and I'm glad I have a whole week before I pop it in the VCR again. I can't even imagine tacking on the CTX Intervals afterward! Nicole is an interval goddess :)

RE: NO~NO~NO!!!

Well, still modifying!

I don't have to modify until I reach interval #4 (plyo jacks) and although I got a little further before beginning my modification, I still had to "throw in the towel" before the end.
I was modification free until #8 (plyo scissors), which I think are going to be quite some time before I master those puppies! And of course #10 I'm still leaping and doing jumping jacks on, but overall, I can feel my stamina increasing and my breathing is much more relaxed, and I guess it's just a matter of time and sticking with it. :)
