Intense Jogging May Shorten Life Span...Thoughts?

Just saw on a few morning news shows that intense jogging may actually shorten life span. And the way to go is light (5 mph) to moderate jogging 2-3x per week. I am not a jogger but I am curious how this applies to intense workouts like HIIT or something similar. Maybe since HIIT is such a short intense workout versus marathon running, etc...there is no comparison. So many knowledgeable people on this forum. Would love thoughts on this recent study?

Sorry I would call this "study" complete bullshit. The reverse is true. Regular runners are in fact likely to live up to 10 years longer than average folk. Cardio exercise prolongs life. Believe it only if you read it in a serious scientific journal like Nature or published by the AMA. Do your cardio without fear and enjoy it.

I completely agree with maddiesmum, what a crock! I think the TV news stations get desperate for news items that will grab attention. So maybe they found a report that high intensity jogging while being chased by an angry bear can shorten your lifespan, and just left out the details. There have been a lot of really good valid studies done on running that can tell you the truth. American College of Sportsmedicine is another really good source for good exercise research.
