insanity asylum

Hi Roselyn,

I did Asylum in April-May. I found it to be way harder than Insanity! A lot of the moves are based on Insanity moves, but are another level up. I never mastered Asylum, although I will go through it again at some point and probably do better.

That being said, I enjoyed it a lot, even though it was a bit beyond me, and I kept trying, doing my best every day. My improvements from Day 1 to Day 30 were phenomenal. Even though I didn't master the program and had to modify some of the moves all the way through, as well as take a few minutes extra of breaks, I gained a lot of coordination (I am not the most coordinated person) and did much better on the Day 30 Athletic Performance Assessment. I also gained significant definition in my abs. So, I guess, if I were in gym class, I would have gone from an F at the beginning to about a C. I'm OK with that. I actually like the fact that there is still more challenge for me in this program.

I did the 30 Day Rotation of Asylum (as is), and I really enjoyed it. I think my greatest gains were in agility (which is one of the program's goals). I still do the workouts here and there, especially Game Day and Strength (my two favorites).

I did find, however, that I really missed my step workouts. Although my cardio-vascular capacity increased doing Asylum, my quads were a little sore when I went back to Cathe's Imaxes!

I did ASylum, and currently doing P90X/Asylum. I took a month break in between...I missed my Cathe workouts. Anyway, these workouts are more fun than Insanity, and harder. Speed and Agility gets easier, Vertical Plyo is just harder...always!!! You will enjoy it, good luck...the rotation is so much better than Insanity. The strength workout makes a huge difference. Good luck!!

I noticed changes in my abs and biceps (for some reason) and my calves hurt everyday...lots of calf work.

Has anyone worked in Asylum or Insanity workouts with STS? When we return from vacation (plenty of hiking/running/swimming/skiing/kayaking in Minnesota), I'm thinking of doing STS again and working in some of the cardio workouts. Insanity was so repetitive and Asylum, I have a hard time getting up to do that every morning if it's a cardio day...can't take it at 6 am :) Haven't been on the forum for a while, missed the educated crowd!
