INSANE PARTY - Tues, 8/25

Good Morning Y’All!!

Ooooooooohhhhhh I really loved MIP today :D Not easy by any means, but I liked all the moves in this workout. Some moves get in the booty good, particularly the pogo exercise. I also liked the side twist push up. Can’t wait to hear what you all think of it :D

Dawn - Sorry, I think I confused a post of yours with Sandra’s yesterday

Sandra - First day of school went well for DD in 2nd grade, but DD in pre-K was not as happy. It’s usually the other way around so go figure  Yep, my workouts are at 4:30 a.m. just because that is the time I know it will get done and have been on that schedule since youngest DD was born 4 years ago.

Becky - I’m more efficient under a time crunch. I’m incredibly lazy when I have a long weekend and get so much more done on a short weekend :)

Have a super day everyone!!

Hi All,
I haven't been checking in much lately but I'm back. I decided to start the Insanity up again from Disk 1 yesterday. I'm about to start disk 2 and I'm just gonna push the cardio for the next 2 months. I'm reading Burn the fat feed the muscle and his theory for burning through the last bit of fat is to do straight out cardio for a period before adding in weights, so I'm gonna try it. As for the eating plan basically he says to eat Carbs & Protein together at every meal and snack...does anyone here do that? Has anyone here read this book or does anyone follow the eating plan....??? Have a great day all
Elena

Welcome back, Elena!! :D

I haven't read that book, but I can tell you that just the past 5/6 weeks of Insanity has trimmed me up and I'm thrilled :) I have never followed any particular eating plan other than borrowing a few recipes (South Beach, Insanity, P90X, etc.) and I just watch my portions. I'm sure others here can chime in as far as diet specifics, but I just wanted to welcome you back onto the Insanity wagon. This is my first week of Month 2 and I'm feeling that endorphin rush similar to the first week of Month 1 - LOVING IT!! :D

IMAX2 this morning. :D That was fun, and much easier then I remember. Okay it was still tough at the end, but I haven't done this well with IMAX1, 2 or 3 since before I sprained my ankle (many many years ago). :D:D
Ever since I sprained my ankle I had trouble keeping up with the strattle hops with one riser and I would have to either slow down or get rid of he riser. NOT TODAY. My jumps were higher. My tuck jumps involved slightly bended knees, and my 180 turn jumps in the final interval were much higher then as of late.:eek::eek:

THERE IS NO DOUBT about what Insanity has done for me. I knew my cardio needed an overhaul when I started, but I'm truly impressed at how far I've come. I know I'm likely to hurt my arm patting myself on the back right now, but in the words of our beloved Cathe, I impressed myself... ;) I found myself wondering where the plyo jacks and suicides where during the steady state step portions between the brief cool downs and actual intervals. :p

Elena, Good to see you again. I have not read that book. I am following the Insanity eating plan for the most part. He does have you eat a mix of protein, carbs and fat with all meals but the ratios are not consistent.

Jennifer, first of all I did not even notice that you confused me with Sandra. Secondly, I will take being confused with Sandra (or any of the lovely Insanity ladies) as a total compliment. :D It sounds like you're settling right into the M2 workouts. :)

Becky, LOL at the image of you wandering around aimlessly.. I'm sure it'll take a bit, but you'll get used to the extra time, and even enjoy the alone time. You DO deserve it! Unless of course you want to try and start all over again. :p

Sandra, Yes I do find the whole insanity program tough on the hip flexors (especially CA - yikes). That being said, my hip flexors have always been tight. I've always struggled with the double grape vine twist (which in theory shouldn't be tough), and it seemed easier today , so Insanity must be losening my hip flexors (even though it does not seem like it :p). BodyBlast is pretty good too, but to be honest I have yet to do the legs workout from that series. I really don't enjoy leg work as a rule. Intensity is still my desert island series. Hands.down. Let's just hope we get stranded on the same island so I can bring Intensity and you can bring BodyBlast. :)

One more note that I've been meaning to mention. I don't know why but there are segments of music from Insanity that always remind me of the theme music from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Anyone else think that?

Wow was I chatty today. Hopefully I don't scare anyone away with my novelette.

Dawn - Chat away, always love to hear what you are up to :D WTG on Imax2 - I was wondering how the Insanity improvements would benefit our other workouts. Can't wait to try out Imax2 & 3 again :D

Between your Buffy music & my Epcot Center music it sounds like Insanity is making us a little delirious. I asked DH about the Epcot music and he just looked at me like I was loco  I'll ask him about Buffy. Are you a Twilight fan? I am and thought you might enjoy this clip I posted in OD a while back :p

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have been MIA the past couple of days. I was sick over the weekend and then DH got sick yesterday. So I have been spending my forum time sanitizing everything. I am in the last week of Month 1 so yesterday was PC & CA, and today was CPR. I have started putting 1 body part per day from GS so I can keep up the weights.

Elena, welcome back - I have read the book and it is good advice but I am not one for sticking strictly to one diet. I like a variety so I incorporate different things into my diet.
Dawn, awesome job on IMAX!!!! I can't wait to try them after insanity.
Jennifer, glad to hear you enjoyed MIP. I am worried about Month 2.

Glad you and DH are feeling better, Colleen!! Yeah, for the final stretch of Month 1. I added the deluxe Upper Body weight workout 3xs during the recovery week, which satisfied my lifting fix. My hat is off to those of you adding extra workouts during the other Insanity weeks :D I think you will enjoy Month 2. There are more strength/power exercises in Month 2 and I had DOMs from MIC yesterday just like I had done a weight workout

Colleen, hope everyone is feeling MUCH better! Summer sickness is such a bummer! :(

Thanks a lot Elena! ;):D:p I had decided if BFFM came up one more time in conversation, I was going to get it.....the smoke you see is from cc overheating from the past few weeks!

Nice, long run this morning and the humidity was so much lower! We did the same exact time, 96 minutes, but added another quarter mile!

Dawn, I love long chatty posts! :)

Have a great day everyone!

Becky

I DID IT!!!! AND NOW I FEEL FABULOUS!!!!!

Oh my goodness, when I woke up this morning I was so sleepy, stiff, and tired. I took my 6am client outside where I warmed up with her with a 3min walk into a 5min jog. That really made me feel better. Then she did a bunch of running/drill work while I drank a hot tea, watched the sunrise, and cheered her on. I love my job :p. We came back inside for the last 30mins and did some lovely yoga-inspired stretching. I really focused us on the hips, back, hamstrings, and upper back/shoulders. I love my job :p. After she left, I laid down on the couch and slept for almost 2 more hours. After a breakfast smoothie, I was *finally* ready to face the thought of doing PCC and STS Triceps. My hip flexors were so tired from yesterday. I decided my new mini-goal was simply to Push Play! I didn't care one wit about how well I performed; my goal was simply to be able to put a check mark on my poster!

And yes, the workout went smashingly well . One thing I've learned over the years, that I constantly need reminding of, is that how I feel *before* a workout has nothing to do with how I will feel *during* the workout. I did fantastic with PCC. I'm really happy with it. And now I feel fabulous. Energized. Ready to GO!

That was the end of Week 3 for me. Tomorrow's supposed to be the rest day, but a couple months ago I agreed to sub an evening cycle class. But, I won't be doing any weight training or personal training, so I can truly rest in the daytime. I'll pick up Insanity on Thursday with Pure Cardio, STS Disc 24: Biceps, and Cardio Abs. I'm two body parts away from being done STS Meso 2!

I'm glad to be hearing that there's more strength conditioning in Insanity, Month 2. I'm still trying to decide whether to redo STS M2 again, or to do another one part/day series, or to make up my own thing, or to do none at all. I like the 3rd choice because of time constraints; with the longer M2 workouts, it'll be tougher to add in extra weight work. But I love lifting, and am reluctant to stop doing it altogether.

About BFFM:
I *just* bought the book on the weekend, and emailed it to Staples to have it printed and bound. I picked it up yesterday and have been trying to read as much as I can. There's lots of very valuable information in there. If you follow the Insanity Nutrition guide, you will be staying true to the principles behind BFFM (unless you really want to get competition-lean. Then, you need to get very, very precise in your nutrition). I'm really liking the book. I also bought the other ebook he offered, which also gave me access to The Inner Circle for 1 month, for $1. That site is a wealth of information, too. I think I'm suffering from information overload at the moment.

Dawn:
I love your solution! Yes, let's get stranded together! And Legs & Glutes from the BB series is so much fun. Not a barbell in sight; a bit of plyo mixed in for good measure; fantastic music. Cathe's having a ball in this one, and it shows. There's a point after some standing outer thigh work where she does this little bum wiggle that had me cracking up the first time I saw it. It was, well, very cheeky ;)

I love reading about the M2 workouts! Keep up the excellent work, everyone! Be consistent, and you will reap the rewards!!

Cheers!

Sandra, thanks for the BFFM report! I too will confess to buying the *deluxe* edition with the 2nd book. I didn't think about e-mailing it out to be bound. I've already printed out about half and started putting it into a binder. I bet kinkos would have been cheaper than a new ink cartridge! Argh!
What certification did you get? I know to be YMCA certified, it's just an easy Y sponsored class. I'm thinking of getting into a tougher program. I can't remember the names (so many initials! :p) but I know there are 2 that are supposed to be exceptional. Any recommendations or advice?

Good Evening Y'All..........
Sounds like everyone had great workouts today. For those of you who haven't started Month 2, there is nothing to fear, just embrace the new challenges and set your sights on improving with every workout!! Today was Max recovery for me and it is exactly what my hamstrings needed. The first part of the workout is very yoga inspired, moves into good ol' plank work and some interesting quad burners and finishes with some standing ab work. I felt good and stretched out with a slight sheen of sweat covering my torso. AHHHHHHHHH what a good feeling.
I'm with you gals up thread about this being the deserted island series and I really like the addition of legs and glutes, that remains one of my top 3 all time favorite Cathe dvds. I can't believe it but I think I might be getting nostalgic, reminiscing about Leg presses.... where is my high step, I need to bang out a couple of rounds.

See y'all tomorrow
