Input regarding knee

I have finally gotten back into the swing of daily workouts. I jumped back in with 4DS and then started learning the new Shock Cardio workouts.

I think I jumped too hard too soon. My right knee is really bothering me. I'm icing and taking motrin. I've also taken yesterday off and will do the same today.

I am hesitant to stop all working out. Any recommendations to keep me in the habit of that time of day? Should I do upper body workouts (like ones that are on 4DS etc.)? What about cardio?

I've been struggling with my weight climbing (not quite sure why, as the calories in aren't equalling lbs gained...yes, keeping a food journal) so not doing cardio has me hyperventilating.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I suspect an MRI is in my future and honestly, I'm trying to avoid it.

Thanks!

Do you have or have access to a stationary bike (or if weather is good, an outdoor bike)? That is usually easy on the knee. For weights I think you are right on with upperbody but how about lower body with very light or no weight and skip things that might make your knee feel "wonky" such as lunges.

Not a bad idea...of course, I'd rather poke my eyeballs with a hot poker than put my road bike on the trainer. BUT, if that's the workout I can get right now and the knee heal, then I'm game.

Thanks for the reminder. I forget that little "treasure" because it's such drudgery!

Sorry to hear about your knee issues. I feel your pain! I did all of Cathe's step workouts for years and LOVED them until my knees said "no more for you!" It was extreemly frustrating because all other forms of cardio bore me to death. Eventually i found spinning and have had no major knee problems. Just crank up your favorite workout music and get to business. Glucosamine helps a little too if you are up for adding some supplements.

I hurt my knee too. I know it's a bummer - but you should have it looked at if it lasts for more than a few days. If it hurts to walk, then you should see a doc sooner. autumn
