Hi. Kind of new to the site. I have a broken neck and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to stay in shape and not gain a lot of weight. I still have a good appetite and I am afraid I will gain a lot of weight. I am not allowed to lift over 5 to 10 lbs and can walk - no strenous activities. I just started doing Cathe's videos a few months ago and love them. Any advice would be great. thanks
 
Welcome Blondie, so sorry to hear about your present state.

I don't feel qualified to make exercise suggestions given you currently have a broken neck. But may I offer you a {{{{{{HUG}}}}} and some encouragement?

Listen to your doctor and take it slow and easy. You can maintain and even make advances with clean eating and the walking and light weights. You DO NOT want to risk further injury and permanent problems.

Take care and keep posting. Everyone here is so encouraging.

so sorry for your injury, but its best to check with a doctor on this. in the meantime try to keep portions in control and make sure you are eating wholesome foods,unprocessed, and rich in nutrients, and protien and fiber help fill you up so include them in each meal. but do check with your doctor as to what exercises you can do and just do them with your light weights 2-3x a week or as he/she directs it, so hopefully that will keep you on the exercise train without causing more damaged to your neck. good luck and post often.

I am just guessing but you could do static lunges or squats with no weights.
Lay on your back with your had on the floor and do curled leg abs .
or some sit on a chair and work legs and glutes with ankle weights.
how about a recumberant bike??
May be worth the investment.
How in gods name did you break your neck....
Don't take chances?
Paralization is not worth it.
How long to heal up?
Are you wearing a brace?

I was on the new wego kite behind the boat and flipped off and hit the water head first. I appreciate the advice....I have just been kind of down...i have a 20mos old daughter and can't even pick her up. Thanks everyone. I can't wait to start doing step again especailly Cathe's. Maybe the new videos will be out by then. I am wearing a hard cervical collar all the time for probably 12 weeks. I hope that I don't end up gaining a lot of weight.
