injury prevention for the lower back

Is it safe to do dead lifts if one has lower back problems. I have bulging disks in the lower back, but as long as I exercise regularly, it keeps me pain free. I have just ordered 5 of your videos, one of them being Body Max which I believe has some dead lift exercises. Is it possible to do these if a certain proper form is maintained, if so please advise what the proper form is. My back problems are moderate.

Deadlifts

My advice is to view the deadlifts and ask your doctor what he thinks of you doing this exercise for your situation. Some doctors approve and some disapprove. You'll obviously have to make a decision at some point as to whether or not they seem beneficial to you. Form is sooo critical(you will see that I will be especially specific about form on the deadlifts in this tape). When I first started doing deadlifts, I was feeling them entirely in my back because my posture was wrong. Then I finally mastered it. I have a condition known as lordosis(sway back) in which my spinal alignment is a bit swayed to the side. Because of this, deadlifts never feel 100% right to me but I have noticed my lower back strength improve tremendously over the last few months.
