My DH just bought me an indoor trainer for my bike because I want to keep up my bike training in the winter so when spring comes I can pick up where I left off. Also I would like to do a couple of long rides like the one for MS and a longer version of the one I did this fall. I just wanted to know if anyone has used this and if they like it and also if anyone has used any of the spinerval video and their opinion of it.

Thank you in advance

I used an indoor trainer when I lived in the Pacific Northwest & couldn't ride outside routinely. This was pre-Spinerval & I just listened to a CD for entertainment & used a heart rate monitor to pace. I did like it, good for base training (lower heart rate) but for 1 hour max.

The Spinerval tapes are enticing. Have you checked out Video Fitness? The review section isn't up to date, but there's a current discussion on "Spinning" in the reader forum which is really about Coach Troy. There are lots of old discussions that you can pull up too, but the current discussion seems like a good overview. The bottom line: mostly 2 thumbs up for Coach Troy & his Spinerval tapes. DVD's are supposed to be available soon.

An oscillating fan is a mandatory accessory for a wind trainer. You will sweat buckets without the drying effect of the wind.

Debra,
Thank you very much for your reply, I broke down and ordered Spinervals 1.0 fitness. I hope I like it. I did check out the post of VF about spinning and Coach Troy. Thank you again.

I do Coach Troy's Runervals and Spinervals. They're amazing. When I started Runervals, I did the last intervals at 7.5 mph with a 3 incline. I'm now up (after about 6 weeks) to 10.5 mph and a 10 incline for the last two intervals. I love it. He's a sadistic little s**t but whips you into shape.

For Spinervals, I like Muscle Breakdown and Suffer-O-Rama
