Increased intensity-increased appeitite

Boy howdy I have started to increase my weight work and my appeitite is going through the roof :) . I'm trying to increase with more protein and few good carbs but some days it doesn't touch my hunger, I just can't get filled up. I really then start to crave the bad food that I know will fill me up. Any body else experience this when they upped their intensity level? Any insights would be great! :D

Heck yeah--you should see me after a leg workout, I am ravenous!

My only suggestion is if you want to eat a large meal or carbs, do it right after a workout while your heart rate is still up so you burn off some of it.

Hi Rebecca,
I agree, sometimes non-starch veggies just doesn't cut it! But it doesn't have to necessarily bad carbs that fill you up (although my favorite bad carb is white pasta!). A sweet potato is a "clean" carb and is very filling, in addition to being sweet and delicious. Have a half with some protein and that's a whole meal. Just wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for 4 1/2 minutes.

Absolutely! When I started inserting Hardcore into my rotation I just couldn't get full on the "minimeals" I would be starting my third one before I could touch the hunger. I always try to have something filling and satisfying, oatmeal with fruit and ground flaxseeds, made with milk, toast and peanut butter and tea, a lean protein based sandwich, yogurt/fruit/kashi go lean. But like I said, even these just didn't cut it at first. The good news is that after two or so weeks of this the hunger has leveled itself out and I actually have lost either a half or quarter inch in most places, so with increased intensity comes increased calorie burn! So enjoy what you eat and just make it as clean as you can with lots of flavor!:9
