*IMPORTANT**ALL WOMEN***

Hi everyone,
Hello everyone,
Mother's Day is next weekend and I just wanted to remind all Mothers (and daughters) the importance of a yearly mammogram and monthly breast exams. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 40,000 women will die from it each year. EVERY WOMEN 35 and up should have already had a baseline mammogram, and women over 40 should go every year. Self breast exams should be done every month by everyone. I had a bilateral mastectomy the day after my 37th birthday. No, I didn't have any family history, and yes, I thought I was too young. There was also no palpable lump. Also, any changes in the appearance of your breast could be a warning signal. In my case, my nipple had a tiny scab on it. I thought somehow I just scratched it or something but it was actually a warning sign my doctor ignored due to my age. If you're not happy with a doctor's opinion, move along until you find one who gives you a peace and confidence. I'm glad I did!!! Take care of yourself and have a great Mother's Day!!

Blessings

Denise --

Thank you so much for posting this important reminder. Last year I had to have a biopsy for a "suspicious" cluster of microcalcifications. No lump. This could have only been found by mammogram. Luckily, it turned out to be benign. Even if it had been malignant it would have been caught in early stages and that's what gives doctor's the edge. Detection by mammogram catches abnormalities 2-4 years before it's large enough to be a detectable lump.

Thanks for this important reminder for all women.
