IMAX 3

I got Imax 3 about two weeks ago and I have to say, as of yet, I am just not that excited about it.

Will I learn to love it? I see so many of you who absolutely love it.

Is Imax 2 better?

I just got IMAX 3 recently also, and I too am having trouble getting into it. Some of the choreography is a bit tricky for me. But I really love IMAX 2. It's one of my favorites. I'm hoping that 3 will grow on me in time once I get some of the footwork down.

I am one that loves Imax 3 but I didn't love it until after doing it a few times. I love Imax 2 as well, but for some reason I developed a dread factor for a couple of the intervals. I don't have that problem with Imax 3. A lot of people find Imax 2 more fun - fun factor is about the same for me with both; and like other workouts, I like them each for different reasons.

IMAX3 grew on me, and now it's my favourite of the three. I get the best endorphin rush by the end of it. IMAX2 has the best "party" feel, while IMAX1 and IMAX3 have a "get down to business" feel for me.

I didn't like Imax 3 enough to keep it. The combo of more complex choreo (actually, not well cued in some spots rather than actually that complex) and over-the-top impact (jumping on and OFF the step) were a complete turn-off for me. I decided that, while it was fun and inspirational watching Cathe and crew do it, I wouldn't use it much at all.

On the other hand, I LOVE Imax 2. Fun, good music (despite the dude singing Pee-nah Colada instead of Piña (pee-nya)), and even Cathe's hair style and outfit are perfect for the workout!

I love it!!! It took me a few tries though. I spent most of the 1st and 2nd time confused by the step part and dying on the intervals. I finally did the premix with just the step on a 4 inch step twice. Then I raised up to a 6 in step for 1 time. (I can't use more than 6 in, bothers a bad knee) The next time I put the whole thing together on a 6 inch step and got it. I still wanted to keel over by the end though. I just kept at it, and now its a favorite. I do it prob 2x a week or so. The only reason I didn't like it from the beginning was I had a hard time getting it. I still get going the wrong way sometimes, but it all works out. I've never tried IMAX 2, but I hear thats a blast. Looking forward to getting it. I just have 1 and 3. I did 1 this morn, and it's a little boring, but it works. I've seen #2 on FitTv, and it's on my list. Maybe I'll get it for mommy's day tomorrow!!

What she said - ITA.

It literally took me years to love this workout. When I first got it I did it a few times on an 8" step (because I can just be stubborn that way) and payed the price in my knees post workout. I resigned myself to using it for the combos only premix only. Well in the past 3 months I've done the workout as is on a 6" step (the only workout that I'll do on 6")about every 10 days and I love it. Now that I'm familiar with the blasts and can mentally prepare for what's to come I get so much more out of it. It's an awesome workout and the time and sweat fly when I do it! I'm thinking I'll give it a go tomorrow as a Mother's Day treat to myself as well:)

I wasn't patient enough with it. I passed it on after trying it two or three times. I wasn't feeling it either. I'm actually not very into the music for the entire Hardcore series. :(

I loved Imax 3 from the start! I like that the combo's are a tad bit more complex (I use complex lightly) and find that too much basic repetition gets very boring for me after I've done a workout a thousand times. I love the blasts, I love the tunes (just wish they were louder) but Imax 3 is obviously NOT for everyone. I "enjoy" Imax 2 as well, again "enjoying" an Imax is kind of a funny thing to say, but I enjoy them as much as one can when reaching one's maximum cardio capacity!

Of all Cathe's workouts, I think this is one that can get you really hurt if you're not paying attention. A lot of the steps are tricky and downright risky if your concentration wavers for even just a bit.

Let's be careful out there! ;)

I love the 30 min. step only premix. It's a fun little workout and a way to learn most of the choreography (except for the blasts of course). Once you have the main choreograhy mastered, you can add in the blasts which aren't very complicated at all.

I like the variety in the blasts as well but I do have to be careful with this one because of the high impact and not do it more than once a week.

You know it took me three times to get into this workout. I wasn't thrilled when I first did it but now I really like it and its on regular rotation. I had to get used to some of the step stuff.

Give it another try.

I am not a huge Cathe cardio fan, and I have a dread factor on this workout, but I forced myself yet again to do it today, and it really isn't as ugly as I thought. The impact can be modified quite easily, and the choreography keeps things moving very well between intervals. I think this is probably my second favorite of the imaxes now, with Imax 2 being more fun all around.

I may not have a real "fuzzy" feeling for this workout, but I think it deserves a place in your workout library.

Awesome. Some days you need that intensity high. Try a little IM3 blasts only and then find where your heart went ;)

I'm not gaining weight. I'm retaining food.

I just got IMAX 3 recently & I've only done it once (the week before last, I think). It took me a long time to convince myself to purchase it because it was described as such a complex workout but it turns out that I really didn't have a tremedous amount of trouble with the actual moves. Instead (& like you), I just wasn't really thrilled by the workout but I plan to do it again, probably tomorrow. I can see that it's a good workout & I hope it will grow on me. However, I already modify some of the higher impact moves & will probably continue to do so for safety. I did IMAX 2 last week & I just love that workout. It really has that major fun factor for me & I hope I will grow to love IMAX 3 just as much (& just as much as many others already do). But time will tell & I'll just have to wait & see...

Good luck & if you don't already have IMAX 2, I think you would really like it. Have you previewed it yet?

It's OK. I rarely do any of the IMAX workouts b/c I much prefer steady state cardio--IMO it's much more effective at burning fat.

But if I want to mix things up a little & do some interval training IMAX3 is my favorite of the 3. I enjoy the more complex choreography now that I'm used to it so I do get a little fun over it.

That said, give me Rhythmic Step, Step Blast or Power Max any day! :)

I have never been able to 'get' into this workout. Now, Imax 2 is a completely different matter...it was a love affair from the beginning! I have tried for about 7 months to get excited about 3, but just can't.

I know this sounds weird..but take it to the floor. I LOVE IMAX2! But, somedays I just don't have it in me to do everything on the step. It actually lets me really turn the intensity on when it comes to the high intensity stuff.
