I was reading through some posts and ended up browsing through your pre and post P90X albums. You look fantastic! Actually you looked well defined even pre P90X if you ask me. I just bought the P90X shoulders and arms only just to get started and get a taste of the series and am psyched to try it. Did you use the whole series to obtain your results? Did you mix and match Cathe stuff as well? I assume you eat really clean since you have such nice cuts, do you every splurge or are you hardcore clean? My goal is to get where you are and would love your responses. Thanx!

Hi Sophie - I ordered arms and shoulders also almost two weeks ago. I received an initial "thank you for your order" and now nothing. Did you get yours already? How long did it take? I did get it for a really great price - I used all of those discounts everyone was talking about. Now all I have to do is actually get it. lol:+

Where did you see her photos? I tried going to P90X photo gallery and couldn't find them. Could you post a link?
Thanks
Heather

The photos were actually just part of her personal photos linked to her login name and not part of P90X, but here it is:

I ordered mine sometime around December 15 and got an e-mail on December 20 saying it shipped with a link to the USPS to track. I just received the order yesterday, January 7, so it took forever. Plus the USPS tracking didn't show any progress until the day before I received it. I didn't know anything about the discounts, I just ordered regular price and chose the $2.95 shipping. Guess that was slow boat or something. I just viewed it yesterday and it looks so cool. It has a timer on the bottom so you can see how long each exercise will take. I liked the music as well. I'm going to do it tomorrow. Also, Ab Ripper was on there as I had hoped.

Hi There! Thanks so much for the compliments! You are very sweet! I wanted to answer your questions...

Yes, I did mix in some Cathe and some running on the treadmill. On Tuesdays, I did GS Legs and either a run or PlyometricsX. If you do GS Legs and then Plyo X...don't expect much from your legs the rest of the day!!:7 :7

No, I am not a hardcore, super clean eater. I don't believe in that unless you can do it with 100% ease. Don't get too excited...I eat really clean but I don't do so 24/7....just MOST of the time. I have not sworn off pizza, chocolate, or sundaes...I just have pretty strict rules about their consumption.

Most of us stray and get off track a little. The difference between us and those struggling is we hop back on that track super fast. Just because you fell off doesn't mean you have to STAY off.

Hope this helps!!

Sarah, you look amazing. really amazing. i think that a picture is worth a thousand words and your pictures speak volumes about your exercise habits and eating program. you look truly amazing. what eating plan do you follow? if i remember correctly, i think???? was it a zone type diet???

by the way, you hav a beautiful family.

Thanks for the feedback Sarah! I'm the same way with food. I eat clean most of the time, but allow myself to eat fun stuff as well when appropriate. I would not enjoy life if I had to be 100% strict all the time. I eat in moderation and luckily have a fast metabolism so I've never had any weight issues. I was thinking that maybe you achieved your results by being majorly strict foodwise so that's why I asked.

If you were to pick out the best workouts of P90X, which would they be? Everyone said Shoulders and Arms was great, so I bought that. Plus, I'm really trying to get some muscle definition there. (Still waiting on that vein to pop). I don't really plan on buying the whole thing, but thought I'd ask if there were any others in there that you thought put you over the top.

i am very interested in purchasing these tapes. where can i find the discounts that were discussed?

Imafitnessfreak- I saw your pics in oxygen magazine and am so impressed!! do you only workout at home?

Amazing! Keep up the good work. You are too cute. Loved your "nose" shot! Ha! Your babies are adorable.

Thanks so much Icklemoley, you are so super sweet!!! You are right...I WAS following the Zone last year but it just was not enough to support my exercise habits...I needed more. If you follow it by the letter, it's too few calories. What I did learn from the Zone is to always combine macronutrients. That is my #1 law...protein with my carbs with a dash of healthy fat.

I aim to eat 1 incredient foods...like oatmeal (ingrediant...well, oats). Egg whites (ingrediant...eggs). Fruits and veggies. I steer clear of the processed stuff as much as possible.

Again, I do cheat but I have rules. If I want something sweet, I grab the Kashi Crunch and eat it dry with lots of water. The fiber fills me up. I keep junk out of the house and I have no clue specifically where any of the fast food joints are located. That is something I am strict about...no fast food...PERIOD! I keep a Clif bar or Zone bar in my purse for emergencies.

If ya'll haven't read Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, I highly recommend it. It is a very easy read and quite motivational.

Again, thanks so much for the compliments...especially those about my family. If I have failed to address your questions, hit me again.

Any of the P90X workouts that focus on the upper body are great for definition. I cannot remember all the titles but here (IMO) is what I think you could get away with skipping: Kenpo, Yoga, Cardio, and Stretch.

I think there is a Chest & Back that is great,Shoulders and Arms is great, Back and Biceps and Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. I would also use Legs and Back for the pull-ups...those are key.

IMO, any workout that involves push-ups and pull-ups are money workouts. Both exercises get more than just the back and chest...they get every muscle in your upper body and will help give you that ripped look and feeling.

As for getting the vein to pop...don't forget that requires a lower body fat. Burn off the fat with a great diet and a bit of cardio and your on your way!!!

>Hee Hee...I was never in Oxygen. You're thinking of
>Deb...FitnessFreak hee hee.

oops, yes you are right. however your pics are still amazing!!

You look gorgeous!!! I have this series but have never been able to follow it for the alloted 90 days because I can't stick to any exercise rotation that long, but this is giving me great incentive. I've refined my diet, I'm eating cleaner and eating 6 small meals a day. My energy level has increased tremendously so this may help me take on the P90X challenge. You mentioned you like to keep Zone bars around, but have you ever taken the dietary supplements and shakes this rotation follows? I really don't want to take on the added expense of buying dietary supplements and besides, they usually taste pretty nasty to me anyway.

No, I don't take their stuff. I keep Carb Solutions protein powder on hand...I like that from time to time in Vanilla and Chocolate. However, I make (almost) every attempt to get my protein from "real" food. Sometimes, I'm just in the mood for a shake...or the kids are trying to sleep and I don't want them to nap because they will be up all night...so I crack out the blender!

Besides, I am sure P90X stuff is WAY over priced and while I had very quick service, I have heard enough complaints from my sister Catheites to never give them my business again.

Thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions. That's what I love about this forum. Modeling others' success is the best way to be motivated and to succeed. And to have other women who are kind enough to share their success is something I value. Ok, now that I've buttered you up, (ha) I have one other question . . .

I don't eat beef or pork, so I get so sick of chicken, turkey and tuna. Since you are obviously a busy person and you mention that you eat as much pure protein as possible, what are your favorite no fuss pure proteins to eat?

Well...chicken. Sometimes I marinate it in a Jamaican Jerk or Louisiana Red Pepper marinade both by Lawry's then bake. Tonight, I will blacken it and throw it on top of my "given every dinner" salad. To blacken, I spritz it with spray butter, dust it with a blackening season designed for red fish, then cook on the skillet (med-high heat) for 3-4 minutes each side...depending on the thickness of the chicken.

Other options...we just bought an extra lean ham and we have been picking at that for a few days. That is good on the salad as well. I do indulge in deli turkey several days a week. I throw it on my salads and enjoy a sweet potato on the side.

My #1 all time favorite protein??? Egg whites!!! I eat them twice a day! I wake up so easy because I know I get to go eat some egg whites with oatmeal...before and after my workouts! Love 'em, love 'em!
