I'm askeered....

Okay, a friend of mine is trying to get me to do the Around the Bay Road Race in March 2009. It's a 30 km race, the oldest road race in North America. Here's a link to the site...

But I'M SCARED!!! I've never run that far. What if I can't do it? The final part of it is all hills. I hate hills.

But think of the sense of accomplishment if I DO finish!

I know, I know, you're all gonna tell me to suck it up and do it, aren't you?

Yep, I'm going to tell you to DO it!! You have plenty of time to train for it!! From what I remember, you've already done a half marathon, right?? It's not *that* much further!! Go Shelley, Go!! :D

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! That's about 18 miles, I think. I'd rather (as Liann so eloquently puts it...) "go play blindfolded in traffic" than run that far, but YOU CAN DO IT, SHELLERKINS! GO FOR IT!

Shelley,
I was actually cursing you while I was on the TM today because I printed out Cathe's TM workout and you were the one who posted it so your name was at the top. Dayum, that's a tough w/out.

Funny you mention being "askeered" to run a race. I've never run in any race before and have recently been thinking of trying the Little Rock Half Marathon. But, like you, I feel too "askeered" to try. (What if I don't finish? What if it takes me 4 hours or more?, etc., etc.) That being said, if you run your race, I'll run in mine! I promise! (Mine's not until March, but it may take me that long to get over my fear of it.)

Go for it!

Deborah

p.s. Just noticed that your race is in March, too. How perfect!

Deborah - all right, you've got yourself a deal!

Run, Catherine, run!

Runnergirl - it IS hard, isn't it? I haven't done that one in a while. Maybe I'll do it tonight!

Ya know I wish I like to run. It's such a easy thing to do and it's free. But alas, I have heavy feet and a neuroma that doesn't like it either

OMG Shelley if you do this, you will be my new hero!

This is one of those times when a Segway would come in handy. :p

All right, Shelley, I guess we're stuck now. March it is! (Me and my big mouth!) I better stop shakin' and start training.

Run, fellow Catheite, run!

Keep us posted (and I'll do the same).

Your fellow FORMER askeeerdicat,
Deborah
